When the weather forecast for this trip said rain all day, I must admit that we weren't looking forward to spending all day in the wet. I am so pleased that we did do this trip though. The RIB ride was great even though visibility at some points was poor. The scenery is stunning and rain means better waterfalls so there are some advantages in doing this in the rain. Our skipper told us lots of interesting information and the seats were comfortable with storage for personal belongings. We were given waterproof suits with hoods, goggles and gloves for the ride.
The rain came and went throughout our hike up to Pulpit Rock and whilst the hike isn't an easy one, it was enjoyable. I think the rain had put a lot of people off so the trail wasn't too busy and you could get photos along the way. Visibility wasn't great at the top but we still had enjoyed our hike and the company of the other 2 guests plus our lovely guide.
Don't let the weather put you off, as the saying goes - there is never poor weather, only poor clothing. Luckily I had a waterproof jacket, trousers and hiking shoes plus a hat so I didn't get too wet.
Great view from the top and some good vantage points along the way. The trail is almost all rocks/steps, unless you choose to go off the main path. It can get crowded.
We had a sunny warm day for our experience, which was wonderful for the RIB ride, but made an already challenging hike even more difficult.
The Pulpit Rock hike is strenuous but this combo tour is a good one for those who want to take in the natural beauty of the region while also taking on some adventure!
This excursion is DEFINITELY challenging. Uphill on various sized boulders and rocks, it took 2 hours to make the climb but the view at the top made all the pain go away!!! Practice cardio and incline walking before you go. Our guide Thomas was wonderful, even taught me a trick of how to climb like a Norwegian to make the climb easier. AMAZING view from Pulpit Rock, i felt like I was at the top of the world!!!
If you are on the cruise , do not book the combo because if your cruise is late you will miss the first part of the tour. We are disappointed about it.
Great day. Professional and organized company who communicates exact meeting location. Helpful at every stage and wanting to please. However, for those taking the RIB trip as well as Pulpit Rock, there was no tour guide for the trek up. It would have been helpful to have guide (as detailed in the itinerary) to cheer us on.
