The tour guide showed up in front of our hotel right at time. She’s very chill and detail oriented. She would introduce some history of Norway during the hike. Also introduce us some local plants. We learned a lot and had a bunch of cool picture on the top. Best view ever at Norway. The hike is very manageable even if you’re not physically strong.

Erle was a superb guide! She shared a lot of interesting and useful background information not only regarding the scenic route but also on Norway’s history and culture. It made for a very enriching and enjoyable hike, boosted by a Norwegian hiking favourite — Kvikk Lunsj (the better version of Kit Kat!). Erle also made sure to take note of everyone’s pace and allowed for ample water breaks so that the way up and down was smooth-sailing. Hiking up to Pulpit Rock is incredible, especially when doing it with a group of lovely fellow travellers led by a wonderful guide without worrying about transportation and other logistics. Would highly recommend booking this guided hike for an unforgettable experience!

Great trip with the stunning view at Pulpit Rock

Jane_D, Jul 2026
Had an amazing trip to Preikestolen, escorted by our friendly guide. Extremely hot day so would recommend going early if walking it in the summer. Kent our guide was great at allowing us to walk at our own pace. We weren’t hurried at all. The view from the top was well worth it the hike up the rocks. Would highly recommend this tour.

A Walk to Pulpit Rock

Zoe_C, Jun 2026
I enjoyed the hiking a lot. The view was so stunning and it just made you stay there longer watching how Norway has combined itself so inclusively and incredibly with Nature. Nature itself is full of power full of attractions. When you really come here, your mind will calm down coz you will admire and be amazed how sensational Nature is. Ofz you will be excited in front of such a pure view shaped by time by history by everything from Nature itself. Needa mention our guide Ken ( not sure if I spelled it correctly loll ) who is so helpful and responsible. He is on time for the pick up. He guided us all the way and prepared food. Thank you Ken.

Pulpit Rock Ordeal (but so rewarding)

John_B, May 2026
It is brutally difficult and not recommended for amateur hikers or those not in good physical shape. But it is a unique experience and thrilling and beautiful at the top. Definitely recommend using poles and focus down where you place every step.

Pulpit Rock with Kenth

Joanna_R, May 2026
Our guide (Kenth) was great! He was helpful and made sure we were wearing the right type of clothing and hiking shoes. I have a fear of heights, everything was fine but 100 meters before Pulpit Rock I stopped and stayed put. Kenth guided our group to Pulpit Rock, then came back for me. Thanks Kenth, you made our day!!!

Nice experience

Bad company

Viator cancel my reservation two days before the tour and don’t give us a good reason why the cancellation.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We gave you a reasonble and specifically reason of the cancellation. We also tried to reschedule you to fit your schedule and our guides schedule in low season. We do our best to run every scheduled hikes, but sometimes we will not manage to fill in with substitute guide due to unforeseen circumstances. We are sorry that that did happen this time.

Our excursion was scheduled for January 9th. Everything went well. We were picked up on schedule. The tour guide Kenth was very nice and cheerful. Thank you for accompanying us. Also thank you for taking a few photos of us :) We are happy and tired. The weather was very windy.

You have to do this!

Tour guides were great but poor communication from Viator and tour operator

tuyetanh_n, Oct 2025
The guides who accompanied us on the hike were great but the communication from Viator and tour operator was poor. I changed my hotel 4 days before the tour and gave them the new hotel name but could not get anyone to respond to me to confirm the new pickup place. Viator received the response from the tour operator but didn't communicate to me. I had to call at 10pm the night before to get the response from Viator.

Incredible

Stephanie_E, Sep 2025
Wow! What an amazing experience, I am so so happy I did this! My tour guide was great, the views were incredible and the trip was well organized but most importantly, I felt safe. I will warn you, if you have bad knees this could be a very very very difficult hike for you, especially on the way down. I am in my 30s and my knees spasmed at the end - I've never had that happen but my years of soccer caught up to me on this hike! If you're out of shape this will be tough, but not impossible just take breaks. My iPhone said I climbed 143 flights of stairs just for reference. Lastly if you're irrationally afraid of heights don't do this. If you're moderately afraid then you can do this. I would say I am a little more then moderately afraid but I had good support by the guide and other hikers and I pushed through the fear. It was worth it!

Enjoyed the challenging...

Priti_M, Sep 2025
Enjoyed the challenging hike. However, the Guide was not helpful or encouraging. He shared many stories about those who did not make it. This caution is great to know, but at the same time it is helpful on a challenging hike to get some positive encouragement. His words of caution were so much that at the end one individual felt bad for being slower and turned around. We had total of five in group with three individuals who were fit and in their late twenties and two individuals in 60s … this was not a good match for pacing . The individual who turned around could have made it with a slower pace and some positive encouragement … this was a trip of lifetime for her. Guide hung back to chit chat with others many times rather than assist those needing help.

Windy, but Wonderful!!

James_V, Sep 2025
Our guide Arla was terrific! Met us on time, promptly drove our group to the base of the mountain, and got us on the trail early. She had a great pace for the uphill trek, given the age range. Despite the unbelievable winds, she took our pictures individually. Such a great bucket list experience!!

Must do for the soul

Laurence_A, Aug 2025
Published degree of difficulty is WRONG. Should be Moderate-Medium. Many folks on this hike (not in our group) should not be on it. I, along with another person on our hike rendered help to a lady ascending. Felt terrible for her but also affected our psyche.

Spectacular views.

Diana_R, Aug 2025
We had a great tour guide who was very respectful of our level of climbing. A couple of our group did not make it but half way but everyone had a great time.

Excellent experience!

Michelle_M, Aug 2025
This hike is probably more on the moderate side - but Else was very patient and prepared. She also was extremely knowledgeable about Norway’s history and wildlife which was fascinating to learn about. The view from the top is incredible and absolutely worth the trip. Would highly recommend. Thank you Else!

The views are great, but this hike is closer to strenuous than moderate. Very busy on the day that we did it (Saturday).

Best hike ever!

Great hike to Pulpit Rock with a nice early start avoiding the crowds .

Great trip to Pulpit Rock. Pick at accommodation right on time given . Very informative tour guide Ola . She was encouraging, patient , kind , did not risk us allowed us our own pace . Very knowledgeable. She showed us many interesting local edible plants. Was good to leave early at 7.00 am which avoided the crowds. Plenty of time given at Pulpit Rock. Ola kindly took many photos for us. Highly recommend this tour .

Amazing guided hike - an unforgettable experience

Hannah_B, Jun 2025
What an incredible experience. We were picked up from our accommodation in Stavanger by our guide (the wonderful Toa) and driven up to the base of the hike to Pulpit Rock. He chatted comfortably in the way and pointed out areas of interest without being at all intrusive. On arrival he made sure we were prepared (water, waterproofs etc) and then explained the hike, including where the sections of the greatest ascent were. Throughout the hike he was careful to speak to us all and make us feel incredibly safe but excited and motivated. He was very happy for us to take lots of photos and showed us where the best views were, but also watched the weather carefully; when it looked to him that’s was closing in he hurried us along so that we didn’t miss the best views. We were incredibly grateful for this as he was absolutely right and not long after we left the rock, the rain started. That being said; at no point were any of us made to feel that we were rushed or pushed beyond our capabilities. After some time on pulpit rock, he took us up higher for a fabulous view of the rock from above and then back down an alternative route (checking that we were all happy with this) . This alone made the trip woerh every penny; this was so fantastic and we all absolutely loved this. I genuinely cannot recommend this hike or our guide Toa enough. Worth every single penny:

Hike worth the view

Shannon_L, Jun 2025
The hike is mostly straight up. You will need some endurance, experience, and ability to make this climb. The view was wonderful. our tour guide was phenomenal. He was also able to give us a tour of some of the old trail that used to lead up to the rock. I definitely recommend.

Memorable Adventure

Aleem_M, Jun 2025
We had an exceptional experience hiking Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) with our guide, Toa from Argentina. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and attentive—ensuring we fully enjoyed the journey at our own pace. Toa provided clear explanations, took care of all the details, and never rushed us, allowing ample time to reach the summit and appreciate the breathtaking views. The descent was also relaxed, with no pressure to hurry. Highly recommend his services for a stress-free and memorable adventure!

Great Guide with Excellent Experience

Albert_T, Jun 2025
Our guide from Argentina is a very nice guy. He is knowledgeable and patient to allow everyone in the small group to catch up. He also took some beautiful pictures for us. The tour experience was very exciting and rewarding. This is our high point in Stavanger!

Fresh air, exercise & amazing scenery

The tour was excellent from beginning until the end. Our guide Paul were wonderful, friendly, very knowledgeable and really helpful. Overall had an amazing time and would highly recommend this tour.

Excellent tour. Highly recommended.

Michael_C, Apr 2025
We were picked up by Andrea right on time at our hotel. We were the only two people that day, so it was a private tour. Grateful that the company did not cancel the tour. Andrea was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable and accommodating. The hike was moderately strenuous. We lucked out - there was not a single person on the rock when we arrived.
