Great tour of both sides of the island. Quite a bit of driving but highly recommended if you are short on time and don’t want to do the planning and driving yourself. Lunch on both days was great as well. If you want to see the hydrangeas, I recommend late May or June. It was a bit rainy and misty at the end of April/beginning of May but still very beautiful.

We had two days, and it was the perfect tour to see as much as you can within a short time span. Andrea was a very good driver and fun to be around.
It was rainy and very foggy on day two, and although she tried to rearrange the daily schedule, we didn’t get to enjoy the special views. Nonetheless, it is to be expected when traveling the Azores.
Lunch option is practical food, but includes beer and wine, and it gives you the opportunity to get to know your travel companions.
Thanks a lot for a very good overview of Sao Miguel Island. We loved it.

Come prepared for swimming on the day you go to Furnas. It's a great opportunity to try out the water from the geothermal pools. Be prepared to get in and out of a van for each stop.
It's well worth your time and energy to take this two day tour. The scenery is wonderful, the views amazing, and the stops to visit places like the tea plantation very interesting.
Both guides we had were knowledgeable and had interesting details to share about the people and places we saw. They were also thoughtful and attentive, with the first one doing his commentary in both Portuguese and English, because the day there were both of those languages represented among the guests. He moved back and forth between languages apparently without effort. Amazing!
The tour is an absolute must for people who have never been to the Azores before. Im so glad we did it!

Great guide great places to see
But cramming 8 people (some are on the large size ) into a minivan in uncomfortable to say the least. If you were the unlucky one to sit in the back row middle seat. You could see nothing , also spending time to visit some areas like the fish town
The drug infested area was unnecessary and boring

We apologize if we are not a company that ensures that every traveler is a fitness person and has the weight you consider ideal.
Also, regarding 8 seats for 8 people being considered "crowded", i'm sending an email to Mercedes-Benz with your concerns and that 9 seats should be only for 5 people.
As for the fishing village, it was the setting for a Netflix series that ranked in the top 10 worldwide. It may not have been interesting to you, but it was for the rest of the group, according to the reviews of the same tour.
However, I am curious about what you would consider to be good enough for you...
I am far more disappointed by knowing that you could have completed your review mentioning that on the next day-tour, I made sure to put you alone at the front seats... two seats just for you and the "crowded" ones on the back, had a great time.
You could have mentioned you had all the time you needed for photos and sightseeing the second day-tour... Or that by your request, i offered you a private tour at cost price on your day off (at no profit to us) to complement your visit however you wanted.
You could have said that, but you didn't.

The sites were awesome and Carlos was entertaining. The group of eight in our van were so friendly making it even better. Carlos went the extra mile with the arrangements which made all the difference for me.

It’s a lot covered over the 2 days which sounds great but when considering how much time is taken to drive… there’s not much time given to each spot.
Instead I think quality should be prioritised over quantity.
Having the opportunity to walk around a lake, rather quickly getting a photo then leave after 20minutes.
If you’re looking to just get a photo of each place, great. Otherwise if you want to experience and enjoy, it’s probably not the best.
The pineapple plantation was a video and walk around the pineapple then leave. So things are rushed.
I understand there is time restraints however this should be taken into consideration to remove a few visits in order to enjoy more time.

Our tour guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable and personable. The challenge was that the order of the days was switched, even though the description references the thermal pools were on the 2nd day. Ours was changed to the 1st day but we had no notice and no bathing suit, so it was very disappointing. I only spoke with the guide about this, not any of the other guests, but that concern was used against us. So, we only did 1 of the 2 days with this company, did the 2nd tour, the West side, with another company and had a great time. Bottom line, if doing multiple days, bring EVERYTHING, as you do not know what day events will occur.

I know that many travellers do not read reviews answers but they should do it in order to fully know reals facts.
I'm sorry but it didn't happen as you say <<..i only spoke with the guide about this..>>.
Unfortunately, the feedback we had from the other participants on the end of the tour proved this, not only you didn't try to enjoy and appreciate the tour, but you restricted the enjoyment of others, by creating a pessimistic atmosphere and a not so good experience for the others.
We understand that you may have felt frustrated, but the other travelers had nothing to do with it., specially if it happens in a 8 persons small group tour.
In the tour description it is explicitly stated that the order presented may not be the order taken and to always bring what you need.
When we explain you that it was in the tour description, you told us that you had booked in a late time and that .."of course we shouldn't expect you to read the tour description".....(??)
Yes!! of course that's what we expect any traveler to do!!! We spend a lot of time and effort on it!
You only did one day with us because on the end of the first day-tour, the rest of the group confided to the guide that they didn't know how she had held up all day and they were refusing to take part in the same tour as you on the next day.
You told all day to the guide that you wanted to cancel and after we cancel and kindly refund, you start insisting with us on taking part of the tour on the second day.. This is not the travel spirit we are used to..

I had an amazing time both days, with Andrea and with Henry. The views are out of this world. On the second day, Henry drove up to the top of volcano in the fog, and some expert driving it was, very safe and very exciting! Highly recommend.

The east tour is more impressive than the west, even though it rained for part of the day. The tour operators were OK.
The West tour guide arranged the sequence very nicely and communicated well.
However she totally ignored our highly anticipated and advertised stop in Riberia Grande. When I asked about the importance to us Andrea first replied "That is not on the agenda." When I showed her the Viator itinerary, she then apologized and said she would try to include it on the next (East Tour). This is the first time through Viator that a stop has been missed.
When we had a different guide, he clearly missed her promise that would have been awkward anyway.
We couldn't understand his name, but although the East tour guide got better as we went, his monotone narration almost put us to sleep.

Bad. The guide/driver was not good. She did not want to get out from driver’s seat when she came to pick us up. She is not very knowledgeable about the places. She would sit in her seat and ask us to go out, visit and come back. She insisted on keeping drivers window partially open when it was raining and cold though we were feeling cold. On the return trip she made a left turn from a packing lot without looking, barely missing a severe collision and injuries. The other driver was very upset also. This was the last straw for us and we cancelled the second day of the trip. Adding insult to injury jury, Viator refused to make partial refund for the second day!

Dear traveller, thank you for rating us, however, we want all travelers to know that your review is false.
The traveler in question booked a 2-day shared tour with a fixed itinerary but the day before the first day of our tour, the traveler participated in a private tour with another company where he decided to visit some common points.
Our pick-up took place as usual and, as always, we held a short briefing to introduce ourselves and explain the itinerary.
When the traveller became aware of the places he was going to visit, he showed dissatisfaction and demanded to change the itinerary because he had already visited some of the places. The traveller expressed displeasure throughout the tour just because we had made it clear to that we could not change the itinerary for the 2nd day in consideration of the other travelers.
The traveller tried to get a refund making false claims, first justifying it with bad weather on a sunny day, which was refused, later the traveller tried a second time claiming that the guide didn't get out of the van and a driver honked.
These facts do not correspond to the truth and we assure all our travelers that they never happened. We did our best to satisfy the client, including moving to a different van travelers who were going on the same tour, accepting to visit some points out of our itinerary, including passing twice in some locations.
We cannot allow abuse and false accusations.

The guide can make or break this tour. The sites are amazing but the personal interaction with the guide is an integral part of the experience. Our first guide for the West Tour was excellent(Henry)and you could tell he was experienced. The 2nd day, East Tour was very interesting but was less experienced and did not interact as well with the group.

Island is like a postcard. So many places to stop at. The tour was in 7 people so not to many. The stops were 20 or so minutes at each view point.

This was the best tour I have ever been on. Diogo is a fantastic tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and conversational during the tour. We were able to see all the main spots on the island in only 2 days. I would recommend booking with lunch, as the lunch was also fantastic.

The routes are great, the tour guide knew where he was but offered just the standard information. Views are beautiful, lunches are fantastic, just no history, no real value added information. Just a generic tour.

If you are on the fence about taking this two day tour as I was, rest assured, it was amazing. Joãoaquine was the best guide around for two whole days. Attentive, kind and helpful with the island. It was 6 of us and my kids lived him. They even said he made their whole trip! I must add they hate tours. He made sure our experience was a good one with information and the best spots to go. Comfortable transportation, suggestions and awesome spots to try new foods and liquors from the island. He took pictures and revised the itinerary when we the weather wasn’t cooperating up in the mountains. It’s was an amazing experience and one worth every penny! Don’t hesitate and book this trip. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful two day tour of Saõ Miguel! I highly recommend. Great tour guides, we got to see so many amazing sites, visit tea and pineapple growing, and the other people on the tour were lovely. Unfortunately, the thermal baths were closed on the whole Island when we were on the tour, but the Botanical Gardens were amazing on their own. A few tips: If you are vegetarian don’t get the included lunch, there are options on both days for vegetarian food. Make sure to drink 3x as much water as you think you need and BRING YOUR OWN BIG WATER BOTTLE in case there isn’t anywhere to buy it. If you get motion sickness make sure to bring acupressure bands or take something. The tour guides were great and let me sit in front so I would feel the best I could. It was overall a fabulous experience!

My 2nd visit to the island so booked with igoAzores as they offer some different stops to those I did last year.
Joao the owner took us to see incredible views away from the crowds. Adapted the schedule as only 2 of us on Wednesday. On Thursday there were 5 of us on the tour (who ironically all live within an hour of each other in the UK!). Andrea was also so genuine and passionate about what she does. Giving us lots of time to explore and plenty of photo opportunities.
I genuinely recommend this company and will be back next year for more tours and incredible memories.

We booked a 2 day discovery of Sao Miguel trip on the 23rd and 24th of May with our guide Joao Correia.Both days were excellent with different experiences on either day. Joao was a excellent guide full of enthusiasm and knowledge about this beautiful island and the Azores islands in general. Nothing was ever rushed we had time on our own to explore, as well as time with group to really get a flavour for the scenery and the local culture! We had fantastic lunches on each day sampling the local cuisine and wine if you wanted it! If you are short of time this 2 day tour is a must! This really was a taster of the main not to be missed places but left us wanting to explore more off the beaten track! Thank you Joao for a fantastic 2 days!

Our guides Joe and Marco were incredible! Great knowledge of the history, religion, agriculture and flora and fauna of the island. This tour really gives you an appreciation for how diverse and vast the island is. It is a great way to get a lay of the land. We brought our two kids (ages 2.5 and 6 months) who thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we would definitely say this tour is children friendly. The lunches included in the tour were delicious.
