One of the best tours I have gone on while in Costa Rica. Andrea was such a friendly and informative guide. I enjoyed walking through the markets and listening to her teach us about Costa Rican herbal medicine and indigenous ingredients. The cooking class was fun as well, and the Caribbean inspired chicken dish we enjoyed was delicious. Can’t recommend this tour enough!

After a short market tour, mixed 2 traditional drinks and made our own empanadas with the help of Angel, our wonderful tour guide. Provided dinner and drinks were very good, too. Did not leave hungry.

There is not much actual food prep but it was fun what there was. Oscar toured us around the market and the downtown, he uses a small speaker to project his voice, he's highly entertaining and full of information. The food part was wonderful. Overall great entertainment.

Suggest the name be changed to better reflect the experience. We didn’t have dinner at a local’s home but rather at a cozy restaurant with individual attention from our tour guide/chef. Night in San Jose may concern some, perhaps rightfully so. The evening was spent in the restaurant not walking the street.

Bring your appetite and a sweater. Plenty of amazing local food. Wonderful walk through the Central Market. Andrea showed us many vendors with a fascinating range of items to purchase. She included us in preparing the food and drinks which was a BLAST but not overwhelming. This tour was fun and a perfect example of Pura Vida! Our chef and bartender at the restaurant were excellent as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and will do it again.

I was running late because of airport issues. Angel our guide answered when i called and had me meet the group at the restaurant and looped me in on everything they were doing. I didnt expect to be able ti join late at all but they were really gracious and so kind. And the food was awesome!!

This tour provides an outstanding cultural and dining experience! Angel our tour guide was terrific. Our tour started at the Central Market where we spent time visiting some of the vendors. We then walked through the city on our way to the cooking and cocktail-making class. As we walked, Angel provided information about the history and culture of Costa Rica. Our cooking and cocktail-making class was a lot of fun with Angel and his assistant. We then had a sit down delicios dinner with more cocktails! I highly recommend this tour,at $49.00 per person, it is a great deal.

This was a fun, interactive experience. We really enjoyed making some delicious local twists on cocktails, as well as empanadas. Then we ate several delicious courses of local cuisine. We were late to the tour because of delays at the airport, so we missed some of the cultural sites. But we were blown away by the amazing customer service & coordination between Viator & the tour operator so that we could meet up with them mid tour. Thanks for a fun evening!

Angel was our guide for the walking part of the experience. He did a great job introducing us to the charm and history of Costa Rica. The food part of the experience was excellent. We made our empanadas and our cocktails (if you don’t drink, you get to make the mocktail version). The other meals were prepared by the staff. If you are in San Jose for a short or long time, definitely check it out.

We did this tour 2 hours after we landed in San Jose. Walked downtown a bit and then headed to the restaurant where we learned how to make empanadas. Daniel, our guide, showed us how locals make coffee and then taught us how to prepare two cocktails with local ingredients. It was very interesting and we learned a lot. Then we went downstairs for dinner, which consisted of local dishes. Everything was delicious and we loved this tour!

Our guide was amazing! We walked and talked and he was very friendly and accommodating. Loved the experience in the city and seeing the busy market was interesting. We started with a walking tour of San Jose visiting and learning about historic places. We sampled some delicious ice cream. Then we ended the night at the location to learn to make a couple of local drinks and a local empanada. We ended the night being served a variety of local items and drinks. It was culturally informed, fun, and delicious. I am glad I didn’t eat lunch so I could enjoy the different food items and feel satisfied at the end.
