Marco was absolutely amazing! There was a mix-up through Viator, but he stepped in last minute and completely saved the experience. He gave us a fantastic overview of San José’s history and added so much depth to our coffee tasting with his knowledge and insights. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time and his pride for Costa Rica was evident. Everything ended up being seamless and enjoyable thanks to him. Highly recommend!

Some good information was given. But We did not get the lesson in preparing the perfect cup like a real barista, on pouring and preparing coffee using different filter methods as mentioned in the overview. That’s what really made me choose this tour over the others because I’m a hands on person.

Regarding the coffee workshop, we would like to clarify that our specialty coffee experience is designed as a one-hour session led by a professional barista, where guests are welcome not only to learn, but also to ask questions and actively participate. When guests express interest, they are absolutely allowed to go behind the bar and prepare their own coffee using different brewing methods, guided directly by the barista. In many cases, the level of hands-on participation depends on the preferences communicated during the experience. Our guides and baristas are always happy to adapt and encourage a more interactive, hands-on approach when requested. We have never had any restrictions on guest participation during our coffee workshops. We believe this may have been a case of expectations not being fully communicated during the tour. Had this been expressed at the time, the experience could have been adjusted accordingly, as hands-on participation is completely allowed and regularly offered in our tours.
