The history walking tour by Jampier was truly a knowledgeable one...learning of the history of Costa Rica...its culture, welcoming people and food...its divided capital is truly intriguing with so much parks and statues in one quiet part of town for a truly relaxed moment at any time of day to the bustling city centre of many businesses and the Grand Market for that memorable local culture experience of crafts, souvenirs, artisans and everything in between with its many sodas...'local eateries'...it was also a plus to be there during their Independence celebrations with a few school parades in the city...Costa Rica is definitely a country I would love to return to someday.

Franklin was an amazing guide! We learned so much about the history and culture of Costa Rica while exploring San José, and he made the entire experience interesting, engaging, and fun. We especially enjoyed the delicious stop for drinks along the way—it was such a nice addition to the tour.
One of the things we appreciated most was how comfortable and safe we felt walking through the city with Franklin. We left feeling like we understood San José and Costa Rica so much better than we did when we arrived. Frank is knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about sharing his country with visitors. Highly recommend this tour!

What an experience! Juan Manuel was an AWESOME tour guide! He was thorough and so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all things Costa Rica! He took his time walking us around San Jose and highlighting lots of information about past leaders, politics, architecture, food, birds, and even the Detroit Pistons! Juan Manuel was truly a joy to be around, and by the end of our tour, we felt like family! We had quick stops for ice cream, coffee, and souvenirs as well. We had a very informative and interesting tour with a lovely young lady. Sorry forgot her name but it started with a O. Unfortunately this is only a 2 hour walking tour and is quite expensive. Actually it cost more than European city tours.

Just to clarify, our walking tour is normally around 3 hours long. On Sundays, however, the Central Market is closed, so the itinerary is slightly shorter. Also, your booking was for a private tour, which is priced higher than our regular shared walking tour.

This was an excellent walking tour of central San Jose. We saw all of the highlights of this under-rated city. Our guide, Frank was exceptional. He was friendly and informative and was genuinely proud of his city and country. He made it a very enjoyable experience. The small breaks (with an included water, small gift, and coffee) were a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this experience when in San Jose.

We just completed our small group walking tour with Andrea (our local guide) who was excellent and so knowledgeable about the city of San Jose and Costa Rica in general. In my opinion, this is a must-do activity for visitors interested in learning more about Costa Rica and its rich history. We are glad we did not skip this tour! Amazing information and background on everything. It's definitely worth getting a guide, you won't get half the experience by doing it by yourself. The coffee stop was my favorite part. My girlfriend loved the market tour, we definitely wouldn't have been able to see as much without him. Enrique was amazing and super helpful. He pointed us to a place for dinner that was the best food we had on this trip.

The walking tour in San José wasnt bad per se and I have to say that the guide was extremely friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. She seemed to have an answer to every possible question, especially when it came to the buildings and architecture around the city.
That said, I did feel the tour was quite expensive for what was essentially a walking tour. There was also a stop at a souvenir shop and a coffee shop, which honestly felt a bit like a tourist trap. If you exclude the coffee break and the souvenir store stop, the actual guided tour itself was only around 1 hour and 40 minutes long - not the advertised 3 hours
I also think the experience could have been improved if there had added a bit more focus on the history of San José and Costa Rica in general, rather than mainly the architecture and buildings around us.
Lastly, there were only two people on the tour, and whenever one of us stopped briefly to take photos, the guide would continue walking ahead quite quickly, which sometimes made the pace feel a little rushed and a tad rude

I had an amazing experience on this cultural walking tour and I can’t recommend it enough, especially if you get Juan Manuel as your guide!! From the moment the tour started, he brought so much energy, knowledge, and genuine passion for his country.
Juan Manuel didn’t just walk us through the city, he told stories that made the history, culture, and people of Costa Rica come alive. Franklin was a knowledgeable Guide!! I did not feel safe in the evening when waiting for the ride back to my hotel, but never felt unsafe during the walk. My husband and I learned so much!!

We had a great experience on this walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, sharing interesting insights throughout that made the tour both engaging and enjoyable.
The tour lasted about 3.5 hours, but it didn’t feel long at all because there were frequent stops along the way. We also appreciated the two breaks that were included—one for coffee/smoothies and another where we received a souvenir—which added a nice touch to the overall experience.
Overall, it was a well-paced, informative, and enjoyable tour that I would definitely recommend.

Enrique is truly exceptional, so knowledgeable, genuinely kind, and with such a warm, welcoming personality.
