Make your own way to Braulio Carrillo National Park or opt for an upgrade to include roundtrip transportation from your hotel in San Jose. Upon arriving at the park, wander down paved trails on a short guided nature walk, pausing to learn about the flora and fauna that characterize the region.
Step into a butterfly and hummingbird garden to see these colorful pollinators feast on tropical flowers while your guide explains their key lifecycle events and traits. Then pop into the orchid garden, which contains salvaged tropical orchids found on the forest floor, before heading to the terrarium to view reptiles and amphibians.
After your walk, climb aboard an open and secure aerial tram that transports you through two stories of the rainforest for a comprehensive perspective on the environment. Throughout the ride, learn about the biodiverse ecosystem from your guide, who will point out native plant species and animal sightings among the hanging gardens and verdant vegetation. Keep your eyes peeled and your cameras ready for possible appearances by tree sloths, spider monkeys, keel-billed toucans, and other tropical inhabitants.
Back on the forest floor, enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch like rice, beans, chicken, and plantains (own expense), or just relax in the natural environment. Return to your hotel in San Jose with optional transport upgrade or make your own way back to your lodging.

It was very well organised and adventurous experience! We saw tucanos, woodpecker, tapir, sloth, coatis and other animals in their natural environment. Pablo is a wonderful guide, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The other staff were very kind too. My husband tried the zip line and was charmed by that experience. Highly recommend this trip.

A little disappointed. Didn’t see anything other than couple of birds. Tram ride itself was ok I guess. Lots of stops made it little annoying.

We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. Wildlife sightings in the rainforest can vary from day to day since the animals live freely in their natural habitat. Some days we are fortunate to see many species, while other days sightings may be more limited.
The aerial tram makes occasional stops so guests can safely observe the surroundings and allow the guide to point out plants, birds, or animals that may be hidden in the canopy.

We arrived at 9:30am our reservation was for 10am. There were a lot of people and it took a minute to go from reception parking lot to get to where the tours were dispatched. We get to the desk and get our wrist bands and they direct us to the tram. I told them we had a reservation with an English guide. They asked us to sit and wait. We waited about 20min when the guide arrived and introduced himself there was another couple that would be in the group and he announced that we would start on our hike. I am a disabled person and said that I did not request to go on a hike.they told us to have a seat and I figured that another guide would take us on the air tram.After an hour and a half of waiting I asked when were we going on the air tram and was told that when the guide comes back from the hike we would board the tram. Upset that it was almost noon and we were still sitting there I asked if we were to be in that group wouldn’t it have been more logical that we do the air tram first and the hike could be after and we could be on our way. The woman kept trying to show me that my reservation did not indicate that I was handicapped. I tried numerous time to explain that we shouldn’t have had to wait all that time when we all could have went on the air tram first then they could continue with their hike and we would be on our merry way. All she had in mind was to keep telling me that it wasn’t indicated that I was handicapped. She kept missing the point I was trying to make. I got very angry and frustrated that because she was trying to express her view that she wasn’t listening to anything I said. She then said, very condescendingly, so what are you going to do.i asked are you going to refund our money and she said I was too upset and she would come back later when I calmed down. It doesn’t take a genius to see that there were 4 people in our group 4 that were going on the air tram and 2 for the hiking. What should have been done , and it’s the most logical was to do the tram portion first so all 4 could enjoy then the party with the handicap person can leave but no. She did the opposite and had us wait almost 2 hours while the other party went hiking. As the supervisor or whatever her tiitle was, should have used a little more common sense.

This is a good trip and the aerial tram was a very good experience.
The two stars ( if possible even more stars) taken off cause of the tour guide. Not sure of her name.
Since we started in the van which is a 15 seater (with closed space), she was talking so loud that it gave all of us a headache. We even mentioned to lower her voice once when we started the trip.
We started back from the park to San Jose at 150 pm and unfortunately the traffic was so bad that it took us 3 hrs+ to reach our hotel back and she was talking loud this whole way. The whole 3 hours——, so loud. Imagine you stuck in a van and someone talking loud in a language you dont understand for 3 long hours.. It was soooo soooo annoying which made our day feel like a punishment than a pleasant expwrience.

The experience was okay, especially if you want to learn more about rain forests, and Costa Rican culture and their produce, their economy, and other details, etc. I wish that animal seeing was also included in this, but this was more about rain forests. Zip lining is another activity you can do here, but need to purchase separately, might be good to book ahead if you are coming here anyway. Took more than 7 hrs. The tour was advertised as 3 hrs + travel. What I didn’t like is the last minute sign up by someone on our tour for zip lining and that made the whole tour to wait another hour and half to get back, this delayed us all. Otherwise, our Tour guide was good, knowledgeable and explained everything well in English.

Tour guide Malvin was great and very knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend. The only issue we had was going back to San Jose, the traffic was crazy. A 50 miles trip back took us about 4hrs

The Rainforest Adventure Park was ok! The guide Marvin was knowledgeable and gave us a through tour! We wanted to see Sloths and he found us one! The drawback on our tour was the transport. We were in the same car as other tourist who did zipline and our tram Ariel tour, which means we had to wait 2 extra hours in the park before going home. The park doesn’t have other activities besides zipline. I wish we didn’t have to wait the 2 extra hours.

We had a good time in spite of a downed tree that delayed our tour and a rain storm. The storm was actually kind of cool given we were in a rainforest, but probably diminished the number of animals we saw. Regardless we did see a sloth and some monkeys and toucans. Our guide Celimo was great and so knowledgeable about all the plants and animals. It is a great way to see the rain forest in that part of the world.

We had to wait as they were late picking us up and then another group traveling with us had more activities planned so we had to sit and do nothing for 3 hours while we waited for them so we could depart.

A wonderful tour! Our guide Adriana was extremely knowledgeable and the National Park is absolutely beautiful. The tram took about an hour and the views were out of this world. We opted to include the transportation option, and it ended up being more of a full day than half day experience, but we loved every moment. Would highly recommend!

We had a great day with Ranger James and his knowledge about the rainforest and its animals was phenomenal. He brought the forest to life for us. He has even met and guided David Attenborough and showed us photos of his visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip in the tram high up in the forest. This lady’s 90 minutes. Had a delicious lunch which we paid $12 including drinks. Great value. We will remember this day for a long time to come.

Tour was great! Didn’t have an actual guide from the company we booked the tour with and our driver didn’t speak any English but we got along well. However, Our guide at Braulio Carilla was Marvin and He was AWESOME! Great tram tour and Marvin was super knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

The park is beautiful. Very lush and lots of wildlife to see. This is where we saw our first sloth encounter. It was magnificent. Kathryn our guide was very knowledgeable. The tram ride was fun and very informative.

Loved the tour and Pablo our guide was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The only downside was timing. We were picked up at our hotel exactly on time but when I signed up for the tour it stated we would be back to our location by 4pm. We had a meeting to attend at 5 pm so I felt the timing would be fine. We were not back to the hotel until 5:30 and missed our commitment. I would not have signed up if I knew this ahead of time. This was a group tour and there were five different hotels we had to drop folks off before we got to our destination. In the future I recommend you do not put a return time unless you plan to keep to the time frame. I don’t think I would sign up for a group experience again as so much time was spent traveling to so many hotels.On the positive side our guide was excellent and very attentive to the group and I enjoyed the park and tram ride.

Overall it was a great experience. Seeing the rain forest up close and personal is a must see! James was an amazing guide and we learned a lot. The only reason it’s not 5 star is the wait time. If you go with someone who is doing a different tour you have to wait to be brought back together. We waited over 2 hours for one person. Then caught A LOT of traffic back. It ended up being a 11 hour day that was suppose to be 6. But as I stated earlier the experience was great but the description is misleading with the time, they should note if we are doing different tours or pick up people based on the tours they are doing.

Unfortunately, after we arrived the tram broke down and we were not able to take the ride up into the cloud forest which was the reason we booked this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. And we saw a tapir which is quite unusual. It was within 7' of us and did not seem to be bothered by us. The butterfly tent was great and we also saw a sloth. We were reimbursed 100% of the cost of this adventure due to the tram breakdown.
