It was a long drive with 3 to 4stops .We left 540 and reached park at 1230. Steve, our guide took time to do quick stops at private small coffee farm, gold extraction shop, mini monkey house , small town and cute highway restaurant . He is Very knowledgeable about anything regarding CR. He was thoughtful and helpful.and checked on us .
We did the tram and bridge walk and done at 330. Back to SJ hotel at 730 pm.

This was a wonderful excursion. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. We learned a great deal about plant and animal life of the region. The views were stunning.
Advice: bring a jacket with you on the tram even if it is a warm day. It can get breezy.

Picked up on time, English speaking guide as promised. He told a lot about Costa Rica on the ride. The fruit stand was a stop for breakfast- we couldn’t really eat a fruit as no way to wash or cut it. I’d eat breakfast prior to this but I’m weird about washing my fruit- especially seeing bugs all over the place. Beware: restrooms are really bad at this place. Next was The Monkey House which was a lot of fun. You NEED bug spray or skin covered here!! The bugs- mosquitoes - are bad but the monkeys come right to you and eat from your hands- some even jumped right on us. The guide was great about keeping an aggressive one away. He also offered wipes for after. No restroom here. Didn’t stop at beach town as we passed- would have been nice to grab a couple pics. As we headed up to Monteverde we did stop at one viewpoint for pics. Then we ate lunch and took a few pics of hummingbirds and flowers. This place had a gift shop and restrooms. This is a very nauseous producing drive up a steep winding mountain- Dramamine was very helpful! I’d never want to drive this- back and forth, big potholes, and you seem to climb forever! Kudos to our driver. At Monteverde, there is a gift shop and nice restrooms. We got there and went on the tram. It gets windy, cold and rainy fast! There always is a mist in the air and bugs around so wearing pants and a rain jacket is definitely helpful along with bug spray! We were able to walk to the 2nd highest point after the tram but couldn’t spend much time at the top as we had to be back down for our guided walk. We were led through four hanging bridges and told a lot about the different trees and plants. We saw howler monkeys but no other animals. It was a very cool experience (not sure if priced a bit high for what you get). We had no other time for other hikes once guided walk was done. As we headed down it was foggy and pouring- again our driver was awesome- I’d never of drove that! He stopped once on the way back for a restroom break. It poured the entire way back and he still got us back at the 13 hour mark. Just wish we had a little more time at Monteverde to explore but overall, this tour delivered as promised and our guide was excellent.

Be prepared for a long ride to Monteverde. We stopped several times at a fruit stand, the monkey house and for lunch. The monkey house was not what I expected. There were actually capuchin monkeys living outside in their natural environment by a house. It was good they weren't enclosed in a zoo. They were surprisingly friendly and let you feed them. The highlight of Treetopia Park was the guided hanging bridges tour. Our guide Marco pointed out and explained plants and animals that we would have missed on our own. Alex was our driver/guide. He gave us a geography lesson on Costa Rica and points of interest along the way. He ensured the tour ran smoothly and got us there on time.

With one exception the tour was excellent and the guide in the bus and the guide at the cloud forest was excellent. The visit to the monkey house was awful. I did this tour before and made the same comment. The monkey house area is dirty and squalid, and they are feeding the monkeys and interacting with them in a way that everyone else in Costa Rica is telling tourist not to do. I took some friends on the tour this time and they were appalled by the monkey house. Such a pity as the remainder of the tour was so good.

As we mentioned in response to your previous comment about the monkey house, this situation reflects the reality of wildlife and daily life in rural areas of Costa Rica. We fully understand that feeding wildlife is not a recommended practice, and we do not encourage it. However, it's important to recognize that there is a difference between the ideal world we all strive for and the reality of everyday life. What you observed at the monkey house is a reality that neither you nor I can change. Even if we tell these people not to feed the monkeys, it is unlikely that they will stop, as this is a long-standing practice in rural communities. Many locals who live in areas visited by wild animals feed them regularly, regardless of outside advice. As a local, I am aware that this behavior is common, even though I do not personally support it. Part of our goal on these tours is to provide visitors with an authentic view of Costa Rican culture and the way people live in the areas we visit.

Over a full week of CR activities, this was my favorite. Bring a poncho, not an umbrella. And a good camera. Our guide was fantastic, knowledgeable and fun. The tram is nice but the bridges are the highlight.

This was a great choice! Full marks to our tour guide/ driver- Fernando ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ he kept us informed about everything we were doing. Gave us a ton of historical information about Costa Rica . Great gourmet fresh cooked authentic Costa Rican meal - veg as per our request! The tram ride was fun and the tour guide on the hanging bridges was also very informative. Truly enjoyed rainforest weather - rain gear is a must !!!

Our tour guy was super friendly!! Nice guy! I enjoyed the whole day. we stopped for breakfast then we went to a monkey house. Our lunch was delicious especially passion fruit juice (fresh). Tour guy showed us a coffee plantation. Hanging bridge was awesome!!! Thanks

Overall the tour was ok. It took us to the forests, the driver/guide was knowledgeable however the tour was rushed. There was a hurry to get to the forest and the driver was very eager to get back to home soon. We came back one- two hours before the time that was told in the morning. There are lot of good places on the route and a couple of stops to take pictures on the way would have been great.

It was a great trip with clouds touching your face in the hills of Monteverdi. The Gandola ride was safe and make sure you climb the viewing tower once you reach at the top. It is safe to climb and you are the top of the world at the tower platform. Amazing view of the forest from up there. Then once you come down from Gandola ride, it’s time to walk on the suspension bridges and see the 200 feet trees in the jungle. Make sure you take rain jacket or panchos with you. It is completely safe but it can start raining any time in Monteverdi so be prepared. The lunch was ok and ride in the bus was fine although the bus is smaller with tight space for seating but does the job. The traffic makes the journey longer. Also the stop to see the monkeys was amazing. We saw so many capuchin monkeys and had a blast. Wear a good bug spray when you go to see the monkeys. I highly recommend this trip to everyone and it’s a must do when you visit Costa Rica. Our driver Fernando did a great job giving the details about Costa Rica’s history and geography. The fruit stand is not much to write about. Just bunch of bigger stalls.

This was an amazing tour with a wonderful lunch at a beautiful location where we saw a Toucan land on a tree right in front of us. The hanging bridges are an experience I will never forget. The cloud forest is absolutely breathtaking. My husband and I did this tour our last day in Costa Rica, and it completed a fantastic week of adventure.

Our tour guide, Oscar, did an excellent job to provide us with a wonderful experience. He was patient and answered all of our questions. Above all, he was very knowledgeable about the various weather patterns across Costa Rica and how it affects the wildlife and plants in general. The highlight of our trip was the walk on the hanging bridges, learning more about the plants and species on our hike, and ride on the sky tram.

We decided to book a trip to Costa Rica for Valentine’s Day’s weekend. We did it very last minute. Stay at the Doubletree Hilton in San Jose. The only thing left was booking our tours. We decided to go to Monteverde Sky tram and hanging bridges tour. Our tour guide (Fernando) picked us up from the hotel and off we went. He made a stop to pick up some fruits from a local fruit stand. Everything was very delicious. Then we made a stop to see some cappuccino monkeys. We also stop at a coffee farm. Here we got to see how they grow and had some lunch. Very tasty! Then we headed to the hanging bridges and sky tram. It was a long day. 13ish hours all together. But very worth it. Had a blast, and our tour guide was great. Highly recommend.

What an opportunity to travel through the "real" Costa Rica. To travel from San Jose you go through several small towns and many winding roads. Several stops were made along the way because it takes about 3 hours to reach Monteverde from San Jose. But the traveling was worth it! Guillermo, our local tour leader, and his stepson, Steven (who was training as a tour guide), were excited to share their country with us. Guillermo made unscheduled stops so we could take photos of the amazing countryside, as well as the Howler monkeys in trees along the road, and a hot springs hidden along the roadway. The hanging bridges were fun but the sky tram was an awesome experience riding through the clouds. I would definitely recommend this excursion to everyone.

Pro: the company was very responsive and reliable. As a single traveler, I was worried, because Viator only allowed me to book two tickets. However, the company assured me that I could join the group and they would refund me one ticket, which they did very promptly. I really liked the guide whose name sadly escapes me - he clearly cared about us having a pleasant experience. Also, Monteverde had been a dream destination of mine for many years and it really does have a Jurassic park feel to it. The lunch - especially the freshly made lemon juice - at the coffee plantation was also excellent.
Cons: it is a very very long day and whether it’s worth it really depends on what you’re looking for. For me, I concluded, I would have been much better off doing an overnight trip to Corcovado National park rather than the 2 excursions I had booked from San Jose (the other one being the volcano and La Paz waterfalls). The drive to Monteverde is through a less exotic park of Costa Rica with a lot of hills that resemble my European home. You do stop at a monkey house and see some wild cappuccinos, but I always feel conflicted about people feeding wildlife. Monteverde itself is reached too late to see wildlife. The walk was beautiful, but you have a good chance of seeing all of the hanging bridges in the rain, only. The real letdown was the sky tramway. It is super short - maybe a third of what most of the group had been expecting. We had one single stop where part of the group saw a sloth but the guide mistimed the stop on the way down and some of us didn’t see it at all. There was not a single bird to be seen anywhere. If you just wanna see the cloudforest because you like a forest with clouds, fair enough, but as a jungle destination, this is definitely not your best option in Costa Rica, let alone Central America. Also: the stop at the „fruit market“ is disappointing- they don’t really have any cut-up options. What were we supposed to do? Buy an entire watermelon or dragon fruit to take back to the hotel with us and cut up with a pocket knife? One more thing: bring your own snacks, if you do go on this tour! Since the restaurant at the Monteverde skytram was under renovations, they told us to just get some snacks from the shop to take on the tram. I paid 18 USD (!!!) for a bag of chips, a tiny drink (not even 300ml) and a single alfajor cookie. I consider myself a generous person who wants locals to benefit from tourism but this was such a blatant rip-off, it left a really bitter taste in my mouth. Again, I can’t fault the tour company, but overall, I would not book this again and go to Corcovado instead.

Thank you very much for your comments, you explained very well what the Monteverde tour is about: seeing the beautiful Cloud Forest without the expectation of seeing wildlife. I know you probably read in books about the big amount of wildlife that lives in the Monteverde jungles, but the reality is that it is not a good place to easily spot wildlife, that’s why we don’t advertise it too much on the description of our tour.

We went as a family of adults. Oscar/Omar (sorry I missed it) and driver Randy were at the front lobby right on time. Our guide Oscar/Omar is very knowledgeable and shared additional info and was able to answer any questions anyone may have. He showed us cool stops and we enjoyed our time at the Monteverde Park/Sky Tram. We personally loved the nature and greenery. Some parts of the road on the mountains were bumpy and you cannot avoid traffic in San Jose but you’ll experience all of Costa Rica’s weather throughout the day (hot, rainy, and maybe a little chilly in the mountains). Nice wholesome day.

This tour is great! It’s a really long day, but it’s worth the drive. The fruit stand was awesome, and getting to the monkeys so close was cool. Monteverde is beautiful! The skytram was cool. It’s a short ride, but it has a spectacular view point at the top. Our guide for the hanging bridges was wonderful. She taught us so many things about the forest- different plants and trees, found so many animals for us to see, and taught us why Monteverde is so special. It’s beautiful! Take a day and see Monteverde!

Lonnnnngg drive from San Jose but worth it if you're a nature buff.
Seeing and feeding the monkeys was great. The hike with swinging bridges was okay, however, plancaccordingly (rain and cold weather gear). Saw no wildlife. Tour guide and driver from San Jose were great. Overall, a really good experience and day away from hotel.

ROY, our guide on the suspended bridges hiking trail, made the trip nice for us as well as the Monkey Lady's house. Our guide was just ok - spent most of his time talking on his phone - never offered to pull over and view the valley on such a clear day. The road to the restaurant was horrible and the lunch was average. There appeared to be gaps in the itinerary filled with "fluff". Not good value. As a result, we have booked 2 more full-day tours with another company.
