Itinerary

Trade the urban bustle of San Jose for the wild beauty of the jungle with a visit to Rain forest Adventures Costa Rica Atlantic. This 1,200-acre (475-hectares) private eco-reserve borders the Braulio Carrillo National Park and offers miles of scenic jungle trails. Your adventure begins with early morning pickup (if selected) at your San Jose hotel and a scenic drive to the reserve. Once you arrive, fuel up for your hike with a hearty Costa Rican breakfast served with coffee, juice and tea.

Accompanied by a naturalist guide, climb aboard an aerial tram for a ride through the rain forest canopy. As you head deeper into the jungle, enjoy a bird’s-eye perspective of the treetops, where you can observe plant and bird species not typically seen from the ground. Hop off at one of the gondola towers and descend back to the forest floor to begin your hike.

Follow the Corinto River as you hike through dense foliage and scramble over rocks and along muddy paths. Plan to cover about 3 miles (5 km), with an elevation gain of 475 feet (145 meters). Stop at several points along the way to rehydrate and admire the amazing rain forest scenery.

Take a refreshing swim in a natural river pool if you like, and settle in along the riverbank. Hike back along the river trail, and then take a detour back at the gondola tower where you’ll traverse the reserve’s shared border with Braulio Carrillo National Park. Back at the main building, you have a chance to shower and change before the return drive to your San Jose hotel.

Great trek!

Charles_M, Mar 2025
What a fabulous experience! Marvin and his trainee Moises gave us the vigorous educational experience we wanted. They never rushed us and paid attention to our interests. We learned so much about the forest and its residents, and got to see both flora and fauna that we had not seen on other tours. We highly recommend this trip!

Great day in tropical rainforest

Petra_S, Mar 2024
This tour is a guided loop walk through tropical rainforest. Even though I could do only a part of the trail, it was great. We started a breakfast, then went into the forest by tram and continued walking up to mouintain rainforest. After lunch, I went for a walk with a guide again to see more. I enjoyed whole day, it was very relaxing to spend time in the reserve and to be able to see many birds species, capuchin monkeys, sloths, fruit bats, butterflies, beautiful trees and tropical plants. The guide was experienced and knew the forest very well. It was great that he was able to adjust the tour to our interests. It felt like a private tour (only 2 participants). I highly recommend this tour, especially to anybody who loves nature!

Elite Tour Excursions

LaMar_B, Aug 2021
Our tour guide Sergio did a good job sharing some of the history of Costa Rica on the way to the venue and once we got there. Although there was no breakfast offered as stated in the excursion description. Also, it was stated that we would visit a river to do some swimming, but since it was raining I figured that would not happen. In saying that, I did not see any river for this activity to even take place, so this is another potential aspect that is mentioned and was not included. I also would have liked to see more wildlife in a rainforest, but we only saw an anteater.

Response from Host, Aug 2021

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your review and feedback, we are really sorry that the tour was not of your liking. Wildlife is really unpredictable and even in the rainforest, is a matter of luck to spot it. We have no control of this since all of the animals at the park run free. In regards to the breakfast the handling of food due to the pandemic had be canceled. If you are ever back in Costa Rica, please let us know and the tour and breakfast is on us. Sincerely

A great day trip. After an early start we were taken to the rainforest centre about an hour from San Jose and given a very nice breakfast, followed by a trip on the aerial tramway through the canopy. Then a hike through the forest in the company of two expert guides, who were extremely informative and interesting about everything we saw tapir, toucans and other birds, butterflies, and an incredible variety of trees and plants. Then lunch and a swim in the river and a hike back to the tramway. The walking is fine for the most part, though you need to be steady on your feet roots, wet leaves and after lunch there's quite a steep climb back. It's hard to think of a better way to see the rainforest.

熱帯雨林のハイキング、カマキリ先生も訪れた場所

masahiko_m, Jan 2020
