Experience Aquiares Coffee Farm My husband and I did a 4-hour horse riding afternoon tour. We decided to take a public bus from San Jose to Turrialba. I discovered that public transportation in Costa Rica is safe, organized, efficient, and very affordable ($3.00 one way for both of us). We got to enjoy the scenery during the two-hour trip. We were received at Casa Hacienda La Esperanza with a delicious home-grown and brewed coffee, bread, and fruits before beginning our ride through the coffee farm. Next time, we have to stay a few days at La Esperanza as the place is truly beautiful. The best asset of the tour is the wonderful people who received us. Our guide, Andrew, was friendly and very informative about Aquiares coffee farm, the largest in Costa Rica. Christian, who guided the horses, was very patient and also shared information about the coffee country. We got to see the waterfall, river, church, community, and the coffee shop (buy coffee there!). We truly enjoyed this experience; it is highly recommended.

A unique experience that leaves you pleasantly surprised

If you are looking for a unique experience that combines culture and horseback riding, this tour will leave you in awe. I highly recommend it! The entire experience was truly amazing. We went horseback riding to a waterfall, passing through coffee fields, forests, and a village. Afterward, we returned to a charming farmer’s house for a quick snack, along with coffee / hot chocolate. The farmhouse is authentically Costa Rican, filled with character and charm, and beautifully designed with many unique pieces of furniture and art.

Everything was as described the best part for me was the waterfall and the dinner but please note that the dinner isn’t included with the tour you’ll have to request it after tour but they do have drinks and fruits that you may have before and after your tour starts that’s included with tour they treated me like I was at home I really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.

Great ride. Andrew y Cristian were very helpful and professional. My wife isn’t an avid rider and she did great on the horses. The whole trip was amazing. My wife liked the waterfall the best. I like the whole trip.

Excellent. Highly recommend

A Fantastic experience

First things first.. If you are traveling in from the city, use the app Waze to get to the Coffee farm. We did not and traveled through the mountains in the most unconventional way. The experience was STELLAR, we arrived late due to issues listed above and the staff waited on us politely. The staff introduced us to the horses and told us all the safety precautions when riding horses. We began the tour and the guides were extremely friendly, he even offered to take pictures for us and gave us a detailed history of the farm including all that they do in the local town. After the tour we were served the BEST coffee we had ever tasted accompanied by a serving of fruit grown locally on the farm. As we sat there conversing, one of the guides asked us if we wold like lunch before heading back to the city. We accepted and we were served such an amazing traditional Costa Rican lunch. Rice, beans, chicken and plantains. This was the best experience we have had in Costa Rica and will highly recommend if you are visiting the country, or even if you live locally.

Great relaxing horseride

A coworker and I had a great time with Wilman riding horses, enjoying some homemade cake and coffee, and learning about the entire process of growing and processing coffee. It was an amazing experience!

Beautiful Farm, Friendly Horses, Delicious Coffee

This tour was worth every penny! It's based in a small town of approximately 1,800 residents. The horseback riding lasted between 3 and 4 hours, with stops along the way to swim in a waterfall (bring a swimsuit, we forgot!), to visit a viewpoint above the village, and to tour the coffee mill downtown. At the coffee mill, we really got to see the process up close. They process coffee beans in 3 ways there, and we were guided through the greenhouses and machineries of each. We ended the horseback ride at the house of the owners of the farm, where they gave us coffee and snacks (sandwiches and fresh fruit). Overall, the tour was an incredible way to see a beautiful Costa Rican coffee farm, and the guides shared lots of information and answered all of our questions along the way. Perhaps most importantly, the horses are clearly well cared for. My friend who went with me has horses, and she could tell that they were well trained, well groomed, and well fed. They do have personalities, though! Mine would often stop to eat, which required some control to curb. Because of that and because of the amount of time spent riding, I think people who are already comfortable on horses will enjoy this tour the most, but the guides are definitely equipped and ready to help guests of any experience level.
