Time was too short for such a treasure. It was all we could manage on cruise stopover.
Guide was great & read her audience well.
Exceptionally hot day - no shade
Pompeii was so much larger than I was expecting. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant.
Pompeii is well worth the visit! Our meeting agent Martina was communicative and the meeting point was easy to find on foot. Ride was very comfortable, about 30ish minutes so not too bad. The tour guide in Pompeii I believe was Michele and he was great, he was well informed, engaging and funny. Loved seeing the ruins, would do it again!
The tour of Pompei only touches the tip of the city. You do learn about the eruption and the way of life. Any questions while on the tour were answered. You need a lot more time and days to really see Pompei as it is much larger than you imagined.
Directions of where to meet the driver was incorrect.
Upon arrival to the noted departure point, we spoke with another Viator representative who said we were at the correct location.
Waited approximately 40 minutes without any representative appearing. Wife spoke with terminal employee who was gracious enough to call tour guide.
He informed us that the location was approximately one block away. Luckily the tour driver waited for us.
The van driver was one of the most horrific drivers that I have ever experienced. Better part of journey, he tailgate vehicles sometimes being as close to half a car length behind. Quite harrowing experience. One we arrived at destination, we were met by the tour guide, who was phenomenal. If you are lucky enough to find the van and have a different driver, you will love the guide.
This tour was a highlight of our stay in Salerno and we chose a half day tour because it fit us better. On reflection, we would not see Pompeii without a guide! Transfer went smoothly and our guide Lisa was very clear in her communication. Finally, by visiting in December the weather was comfortable and our group size only 8!
Another great experience via Viatour.
They picked us up from a place close to the hotel and drove us to Pompeii. There, we had a 2-hour tour with someone who has a lot of knowledge about the place. There were a lot of interesting details about Pompeii. We got to see the typical street, the House of the Lovers, the baths, and the forum. Overall, it was a short tour, but it included everything you need to see if you don’t have time to spend a whole day. Everyone was very professional. I would recommend this tour 100%.
As a solo traveler on this trip, I really appreciated the driver picking me up at the place I was staying. Everything was done in an organized, professional manner. The guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor about her. She also kept watch over her flick, and didn’t lose any of us.
Much of this tour is spent waiting such as for late comers, people going to the restroom and waiting for other tours to move onto other areas of interest. The guide was interesting enough, but we were very limited in what we could see due to the business of multiple groups booked on the day. In hindsight, it would be better to move through the site individually as there is a greater opportunity to see more.
A real low point was the tour operator asking if we wanted to use the restroom (for a fee of 50 cents) before beginning the actual tour. The toilets were run by rude people and the toilet facilities were dirty. Please note there are free toilets within the Pompeii site.
The highlight of the tour was the actual bus ride from Salerno to Pompeii.

Pompeii is awesome. Had difficulty understanding guide, although she did very well. Group was large. Was difficult to find the van that picked us up because signage was nonexistent.

Dear Customer if the group is large we give everybody an earphone for free to better listen to the guide, you didn't receive it?
The tour was very informative, which I would not have been able to do without the Guide. Michael, our Guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful guide.
It was a flawless experience from start to finish. Our tour guide was so great and very knowledgeable.
After looking forward to experiencing Pompeii, I was very disappointed. We were supposed to have an English speaking guide. We were assigned Susie. She was very difficult to understand. She had a very heavy Italian accent. On many occasions she was far ahead of the group that her microphone cut out as if she was out of range.
The group was too large. She walked fast and didn’t wait. There were two people with canes that had some difficulty even staying with the group.
That being said, it was very disappointing. You book these tours so that you are able to learn from your guide. Unfortunately that did not happen.
Way too many people in group, approx 40. Site was very busy and spent most of tour trying to not get separated from group. Earpiece speaker only worked when Guide was within about 50 feet and in line of site. Whenever she went around a corner or distance was too much audio dropped out. She would be pointing out things but had no idea what they were due to these issues. Confusion after tour as we were not given correct info to meet driver.

The tour was absolutely amazing, to see the history was awe inspiring! Our guide was hard to hear at times and the radio head phone was hard to keep on my ear.
I highly recommend this tour! Got to see the
main elements of Pompeii in 2hrs. Our tour guide, Salvatore, was not only funny and charming but extremely knowledgeable on the history of the ancient city. There were about 25 of us in the group. I could see, hear and understand everything. If you struggle to understand accents please don’t be ignorant and book a private tour.
The tour company was great, everything was very efficient, the communication was great, they got us there, and it all went well. The tour guide at Pompeii was not amazing, but I don’t think that had anything to do with the tour company, I think they have to use the official Pompeii guides and it’s a set lecture. He was very difficult to understand, and did not give us as much information about the history as we would’ve wanted. However, Pompeii is amazing and overall we enjoyed it.
Very interesting tour. Our guide, Salvatore, was awesome and soooo funny! If you get him, consider yourself lucky. He had the whole group laughing. It was very hot, so the length of the tour was perfect… not too long.
Contacted tour operator twice for specific pickup info- got. “just outside ship.” Went thru a building, saw no one, walked out where buses were picking up- no one. Finally they called and were in the building. Omarosa the meeting agent spoke 3 sentences on the 30 min trip to Pompeii. Elena the guide at the site was knowledgeable but had a very heavy accent for English making her hard to understand.

It was a relaxed pleasant experience , the ride was pleasant the guide very knowledgeable informative . People were concerned about our experience and comfort
The tour was very interesting. I really enjoyed the history and upkeep of the ruins. The guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the ruins.
The guide was incredible. She was funny and knowledgeable, and she knew how to get everyone engaged. Truly was worth it!
Got picked up in a mini van right outside the cruise ship port which was convenient. Got stuck in traffic a bit heading in, was an extra busy day at Pompeii. Got out of the van, taken to a meeting spot where we waited for our guide Erica. We had 15 minutes to use a nearby bathroom. Turns out this tour has 35 people in one group, and we were waiting on a bus load of 20+ people before we could start our tour so we ended up waiting almost another half an hour extra. Got given a little ear piece to wear so we could hear our guide. Not the best quality, sometimes a bit muffled but better than nothing. No line to get into Pompeii which was good. Erica was a good guide, pointed out some unique things, took us to some interesting parts of Pompeii. It is very very large so it is probably impossible to see everything in one day. Erica was very patient, especially with a rude woman in our tour group. It was a slow-medium paced walk, mostly on very uneven and cobblestone surfaces. For most people it was easy, but some people just dawdle too much, and some had some mobility issues. Hardly any steps to walk up which is good. A few steps to go down at the end. One place inside where we could use the bathroom quickly, and one place we could fill up a water bottle quickly if needed. When the tour was finished, we were taken back to the guide meeting point and told what time our transport back was expected. My group had about 20 minutes to explore the market stalls. Got a delicious orange and lemon slushy drink. Back in the mini van and back to the cruise port with about 1 hour to spare! In total we spent I think 2 hours inside Pompeii
our group had over 35 people in it. thought it was small group. too many for narrow crowded streets of pompeii on a crowded noisy sunday. the headphones and mouthpiece the guide used were not good and could hardly hear what she said over ambient noise. the guide was always in the front of line and you didnt see what she was pointing out and talking about. that group should have been no more than 15. Disappointed i mussed out hearing and seeing so much when i finally hot there,
Our tour guide knew her stuff but she walked way too fast for the group. For example, she would say on the left is a fresco in this family home, but only 3 people in the group were able to see what she was pointing at. The others were struggling to get close enough to see what she was talking about and she was already gone. Very frustrating.I felt like she was just reciting her words and didn't care about what we were doing.
Ruins tour was the best but but it took a very long time to get there as pick up driver was half hour late and unorganised. Tour guide was good but only saw not even 1/4 of the city. To top it off we had the same unorganised driver for the return trip. Take the bus yourself and explore at your own pace. Be prepared, it’s incredibly busy.
Tour was great, guide was knowledgeable. Could’ve spent an entire day exploring. The only critique is that the tour was PACKED with 30+ people, so occasionally it was difficult to see some of the highlights our guide discussed. But I guess we will just have to go back.
A great tour with a very knowledgeable and personable guide. Half day is long enough to get the full experience. Transportation was efficient and swift.
