Manuel brought us through his amazing property and gave us a one of a kind experience. We saw so many creatures. His knowledge and expertise is nothing short of incredible. He also captured some amazing photos of wildlife for us and gave them all to us at the end without extra charge. He even had us follow him to take a better way back to Quepos after the tour. Manuel was a great tour guide!

Was looking forward to a night walk with my son to see some night wildlife, especially snakes. We waited 20 minutes for our guide and met a person from the animal rescue there who told us that this wasn’t surprising. Evidently the guide is dealing with something that has kept him from being reliable.
We had limited time on our visit and were disappointed in the no-show. We certainly expect a full refund. Won’t be recommending Viator obviously!

Like the last couple of reviews, he did not show up tonight. Seems to happen very often. For your own good, do not book this tour..

Guide didn’t show up and didn’t react on our try to reach out to him. Also the very gentle guys from „kids save the rainforest“ tried to reach out to him. Sadly this seems to happen frequently (as locals afterwards mentioned). The better choice might be the guide from finca salamandra nearby.

No show and no communication i booked months in advance so if for any reason there were a problem I could have worked around it.

Guide never showed up. Waited at the designated start point for over a hour and all attempts to contact guide were unsuccessful.

Never showed up. Never responded to messages. Ruined my evening. Look at the other recent reviews that state the same thing happened to several other people.

Do not book this trip. The guy never showed up and wasted our evening. He never even responded to any of our messages.

Do not book this. The operator did not show up and wanted me to go to another location to accommodate him. Traveling so far to do this night tour with family and we were so disappointed by his “no show”

Manuel made sure we found everything there was to see on our night walk. He is very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna in the area.

We booked weeks ago. To take a call at the time we were supposed to be picked up to say the guide would be late by 45 minutes. Explained not ok as we had something else booked later. He said he would call me back in 15. He didn’t . Messaged to say they couldn’t do any earlier then ghosted us and didn’t answer any calls /messages. Better to book with someone just a little more professional…

Our naturalist guide Manuel started out by texting us "there's a new place I want to show you!" and offered to start the tour earlier if we wanted to. We ended going to Bosque de Oro and walking around the area with flashlights he provided. We saw a lot of varying wildlife we would have absolutely not spotted without a professional guide, such as the terciopelo, common potoo, red-eyed tree frog, gladiator frog, scorpion, and a sleeping hummingbird. Our guide was very well equipped with camera and scope gear, so we could focus on watching the wildlife while he took the professional photos. He also shared his ambitions and the progress he's made for expanding his tour offerings to share more of Costa Rica with travelers. We wish you success, Manuel!

Guide did not show up. Guide messaged us a few hours earlier to confirm and then ghosted us. Do not book! How disappointing.

December 2025 - I booked for six people. The tour guide was a no show. We could not get any response to messages or calls to the number provided for the activity.

10/10 experience, Manuel’s enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation is clear, his vast knowledge of animal species is incredible.

Manuel is an amazing and very knowledgeable guide we actually had him on two tours. The jungle is a different experience at night. I

Small groups just adjacent to the park make for an intimate experience with night flora and fauna. Manuel is crazy enthusiastic and fun. Loved the black light on mushrooms and to find scorpions

This was an amazing tour. Dylan was our guide and was great at pointing out and explaining all the wildlife of Costa Rica. We had a great time and got some spectacular pictures. Would definitely recommend this night tour!

Manuel was my solo tour guide through the nighttime tour. He was so knowledgeable and patient with me. His keen eyes were able to spot creatures I would never know was there. T was two hours and the terrain was relatively flat but watch out for the tree roots and rocks. I am 79 years old and had no issues. Fascinating tour! I saw a sloth, three different types of ugly spiders, weird mushrooms, venomous snake, scorpion but no frogs this time.
Qihang_H, Mar 2025
This was an interesting and exciting trip. We saw a lot of spiders and frogs. And very lucky we saw a little mouse with its kids, which is very rare. The tour guide said he hasn’t seen like this for many years. The trip itself is very interesting. However, the trial starts approximately 30 minutes later than expected and no one contacted me on Viator.

While in Costa Rica, my wife and I embarked on night tours in La Fortuna, Monteverde, and Manuel Antonio. All were great, but this one in Manuel Antonio was simply spectacular and the best one we experienced.
Our tour guide, Dylan, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and passionate about the Costa Rican wildlife.
Before heading out in the rainforest, we visited different parts of the city itself to view and appreciate the night wildlife. It added a truly unique perspective to see how these animals truly live their lives so close to humans.
Our trip through the rainforest was simply a dream. There’s no other way to put it. Animals we saw on our tour included the following:
- Toucan
- Kinkajou
- A variety of monkeys
- Tarantulas
- Scorpions
- Shrimp
- Frogs
- Cockroaches
- Skunk
- Opossum
- White-Tailed Deer
- Crocodiles
- A variety of lizards and iguanas
- Katydid
- Leaf-Cutter Ants
There was then one animal that we came across that made this tour a memory we’ll never forget. We saw a Fer-De-Lance, which is the deadliest snake in Costa Rica and one of the most venomous in the world.
Our tour guide Dylan ensured our safety while also allowing us to appreciate the beauty of this snake and its habitat.
To further practice safety, Dylan also mentioned how he never has more than five people in his group. This also adds uniqueness to the tour, as the other ones we were on had larger groups. We felt much more connected to the wildlife and the rainforest on this tour.
I truly cannot recommend Dylan and Manuel’s Tours enough. If you’re in the Manuel Antonio area and are seeking a night tour, book this experience. I promise that you WILL NOT regret it!

No two night hikes in Costa Rica are ever the same! There’s always something new to see and experience. Our guide, Bruce, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly knew his way around the spot. We saw plenty of wildlife, including whip scorpions, frogs, birds, scorpions, tarantulas, walking sticks, and more.

One of the best night walks I’ve been on. Fabio was an excellent guide. Saw lots of frogs, spiders and snakes.
Douglas_T, Dec 2024
To say Manuel went above and beyond putting us on reptiles and amphibians would be a monumental understatement. He’s a great guide and great guy whose passion and enthusiasm regarding ALL Costa Rican fauna is contagious!. Contagious in a good way that is. I look forward to returning to Quepos for more nighttime adventures with Manuel…. Doug Taylor, Illinois USA…..

AVOID this company at all costs. They called me 10 minutes before the start of the tour to tell me they had to cancel because I was the only person to book on the tour. I don’t care if I am the only person, you should be prepared to run the tour if someone spends good money on booking it. They then offered to take me out the following morning for a 2 hour tour. They never showed up! I waited at the agreed time for an hour, they didn’t reply to my texts or to my calls. Please avoid this company at all costs, they don’t care about solo travellers. I only had a couple of days in Manuel Antonio, and Manuel’s Tours wasted half my time here. Terrible.

Mop was amazing and helped us see so many animals we hadn’t seen in Costa Rica. We saw kinkajous, tarantulas, a scorpion, and a sloth coming down to go to the bathroom at night that was 5-10 feet from us. Highly recommend this tour!
Pam_L, Aug 2024
We were so lucky to see a wide variety of animals combined with the best guide, Andrew! He was so knowledgeable, funny, and inclusive! He made sure everyone was able to get a chance to look at everything including others in another group. We were a lucky group that saw a sloth right in front of us as we caught her on her bathroom break. This tour was a highlight! So many animals and Andrew’s pictures were phenomenal!
Katlyn_E, Jul 2024
Your guide was nice and very knowledgeable! Andrew answered all of our questions! We found some super awesome animals and got to look through the scope which was amazing!
Luke_D, Jun 2024
Saw many interesting species of frog, snake and birds, the tour guide was really knowledgeable and good fun, overall an awesome night tour, I highly recccomend to anyone staying in the area.

Dylan was amazing! This was one of the best tours I have ever been on - and I have lead multiple environmental ed classes and hikes back home. Dylan was knowledgeable, passionate about the wildlife and nature of Costa Rica. If you do one tour - do this one!
