We had a great time!
Rainmaker park was a very fun experience for my family. We have two girls(6&8) and loved the hike, hanging bridges, and cool creatures. Our tour guide Elias, was very knowledgeable and did a great job guiding us through the forest. If you get a chance to check this excursion, do it!

For the money, a good...
For the money, a good tour. We spent 2 hours on the trail and in the stream, would have liked more time to explore the stream. Kevin our guide was new, but did a good job sharing knowledge.

We had the best time...
We had the best time doing a night tour at Rainmaker with our tour guide Enderson. He was SO fun and enthusiastic, and you can tell he loves what he does. He was able to spot lots of wildlife we would never have been able to see on our own. After the tour, we ate a nice dinner at the shelter house. It was simple, but very good! Highly recommend! A really cool experience all around.

Really nice walk through...
Really nice walk through the forest with nice hanging bridges and small waterfalls. Not much bird or animals but wasn’t expecting it

Wonderful tour
Great experience seeing night dwellers of the jungle. We saw frogs, cicadas, and whole slew of different insect. The dinner after was plenty and delicious.

Lots of fun!
Very cool! Appreciate Kenneth’s extra efforts to stop before and after the tour to show us great wildlife. Plus, he found everything and helped get the best pictures!

On-time and as described, but you can easily self-guide
Jade Tours was reliable — on-time pickup and the tour ran the length we agreed on. The Rainmaker Park Hanging Bridges & Waterfalls route was exactly as described. Still, for a daytime visit (we went in January), it’s a simple loop and easy enough to do without a guide. Wildlife-wise, we didn’t see much beyond insects, and we did a short dip at the waterfall.
My only real complaint is that about halfway through, we started to feel rushed. The guide also let our small group (around 6 people) spread out too much, so it didn’t feel very cohesive — more like hurrying through than taking our time. Also worth mentioning: the guide stepped off the path and picked up a millipede for people to hold, which felt unusual and unnecessary.
Overall, it was “as promised,” but for this daytime tour, I’d recommend doing the park on your own.

Good tour for families
Very fun and unique tour! The rainforest at night is something everyone should experience while they’re here. The cacophony of sound yet peaceful feeling you get is amazing. We saw a variety of frogs, insects, lizards, and flora. We took our 10 month old as well and he had a blast!

Rainmaker night
We saw many insects, 3 snakes, and frogs. Our guide was excited to find animals to show us. He struggled with English a bit. The food was good- beans and chicken with rice. I’d go again.

People Also Ask
Is Rainmaker Park worth visiting?
Yes, Rainmaker Park (officially Rainmaker Conservation Park) offers a unique opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Costa Rica’s virgin rainforest, far from the crowds of more famous natural parks and reserves. There are hiking and river trails plus canopy bridge walks to take in the central Pacific scenery and spot native wildlife.
How do I get to Rainmaker Park?
No public bus or train runs to Rainmaker Park, so you must reach the reserve with a rental car, driver, or a tour that includes transportation. The park is set a few minutes off Highway 34, about a 30-minute drive from the city of Quepos on Coast Rica’s Pacific coast.
What should I wear to Rainmaker Park?
The only way to explore the park is on foot, so avoid flip-flops and shoes with smooth soles and instead wear sturdy walking or hiking shoes that can take on the slippery trails and canopy walkways. Bring a swimsuit and towel if you plan to dip in the streams.
How many miles is Rainmaker Park?
Rainmaker Park has a 1.5-mile (2.5-km) trail system through the rainforest that skirts a natural river, passing several waterfalls and swimming holes. The main trail is generally level and suitable for most visitors; steeper side trails loop off the main trail, leading to lookout points and suspension bridges.
Are there hanging bridges at Rainmaker Park?
Yes, the park’s trail system includes a canopy bridge system with six small suspension bridges stretching about 800 feet (250 meters) high in the treetops. The bridges span between platforms built around hardwood trees, offering views of the forest from above that stretch to the Pacific Ocean.
Is Rainmaker Park or Manuel Antonio National Park better?
It depends on the experience you are looking for. Rainmaker Park is a compact reserve that is remarkably pristine, filled with wildlife, and with few tourists. Manuel Antonio National Park is much larger, with more trails to explore and many more visitors that crowd the park in high season.
