Itinerary
After pickup from your Puerto Plata hotel (select hotels only), relax into your air-conditioned vehicle and venture into Dominican Republic’s countryside toward Jarabacoa.
Along the way, take in views of villages, gorges, forests, and rivers, and then travel into the foothills of the Cordillera mountains, catching glimpses of Pico Duarte, the country’s highest peak.
On arrival in Jarabacoa, head for the Yacque del Norte river and meet your instructor-guide. Don the provided equipment, including a helmet, and then board your shared raft with your guide.
Following a safety briefing, set off to experience this beautiful river, the Caribbean's longest. Glide over the initially gentle waters and absorb the breathtaking gorge views — scenery that can only be experienced from a raft.
When you reach more challenging parts of the river, enjoy the adrenaline rush as you navigate foaming, white water rapids and canyons. Feel the water on your face, and bask in the satisfaction when you reach the route's end.
Back ashore, travel to a picturesque country ranch. Refuel with a buffet lunch here, and enjoy unlimited beer, rum, and sodas as part of your tour.
Finally, travel back to Puerto Plata, where your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.

We reserved the Jarabacoa White Water Rafting from Puerto Plata tour 2 weeks in advance. We also followed the confirmation steps per the voucher we received when we reserved the tour.On the morning of the tour, we arrived in the hotel lobby about 10 minutes before our pickup time of 7AM.At 7:10 the local tour operator van had not arrived. We called the local tour operator and he confirmed our booking reference and asked that we call back in 10-15 minutes for an update if the van had not arrived. The van did not arrive so we called back.At that time we were informed that the tour had been cancelled because there were not enough tour participants. The local tour operator (Blue Travel) said that they had tried to contact us the day before the tour to inform us of the cancellation. However, we had no missed calls, voice mails, or emails from them. They then asked us if we wanted to reschedule for the next day.We said no because we had other plans. It was frustrating because we had built our mini-vacation around the rafting (and it was my wife's birthday). So we called Viator and since then we've called a number of times to get our full refund. The Viator customer service has been very nice, but at 8 days after the tour date we have not received our refund. The other thing that angered us is that when we talked to the local tour operator he said

This was very enjoyable and not too difficult. The guides were all very personable, fun, and quite knowlegable. This river has just enough white water to make it exciting but not dangerous. I would recommend it to others.
