Gain access to a 1,000-acre cattle ranch, where you'll explore on horseback, during this small-group tour. With all instruction included, even beginner riders will feel comfortable on the relaxed jaunt through the tropical forests, around ponds and through the hills. You'll also experience an exhibition of the Paso Higueyano Horses, the Dominican national horse, followed by a traditional Dominican lunch.

This was the best excursion we did while in the DR. The biggest reasons were:
1. Great people-Friendly, knowledgeable, informative. Taught us a lot about the culture.
2. Amazing riding experience-Good horses, beautiful trails that wind through the trees and streams, and all the atmosphere you could want.
3.Million Dollar View-Won't spoil it too much, but the mountaintop view is breathtaking
4. An Authentic Experience- We went on several excursion while staying in the DR, and all of them were very... commercialized. It is not that they were bad, but it was very westernized. This tour is the opposite. You get to enjoy being in the heart of the DR and appreciate all the beauty that entails.

There were 4 of us on our tour and it did not disappoint! All of us have been around large animals or had ridden prior. The horses behaved great and would be fine with a beginner! Our pickup was on time, then we had a bit of a drive from our resort. That didn’t bother us because we had a lot of questions on the Dominican beings it was our first time there! Arturo (sp) answered them all and it was great conversation both ways. The horse ride was beautiful! The swings at the top were fun and view all around was breathtaking. We did the morning ride with lunch included. I am gluten and dairy free so was a little nervous on how that would work. We stopped at an adorable home in the town nearby for lunch and she accommodated my restrictions with no problem! I had let them know ahead of time. I appreciated that so very much and oh my goodness, it was absolutely delicious!!! We all enjoyed the experience so very much!! My husband, who originally was going just for me, ranked it toward the top for highlights during our trip! I wanted to see the true scenery of the Dominican and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience! The horses were well cared for and easy to ride. Large area to ride up to a scenic mountain top. The guides let up run with the horses as we had previous riding experience which was a blast!

We approached the ranch with no briefing on how to ride the horses and no helmets provided. The guide was rude and unresponsive when we informed him that one of the kids was autistic and would prefer to ride with his mom. Despite our prior request and assurance that this would be possible, the guide ignored the mom and insisted the boy would be fine. He even slapped the horse, causing it to take off and separate the child from his mom.
The horses were in poor condition, skinny and infested with ticks. My horse had ticks on its eyelids and ears and was underweight, making me feel bad. How am I suppose to enjoy myself seeing an animal like this? My wife's horse didn't respond to commands and had a swollen leg. Again No briefing was given on how to ride, and we speak Spanish I cant imagine how bad it’ll be for those who don’t.
We were there for no more than 5 minutes, we decided to leave the ranch, skipping all the inclusive activities like coffee and lunch. Upon returning home, I requested a partial refund, which seemed fair given that we didn't ride or experience anything. However, the owner, driven by greed, refused to refund any of the $543 we paid, offering only a credit for a future visit, which made no sense.
This experience was a hard lesson. I would never conduct business this way, but we all have different upbringings. Avoid this place; it’s not worth it. Other horse excursions are not only cheaper but likely offer a much better experience. I regret choosing this one.

Paulo, we have been talking at lenght about this issue and I am not surprised by your review. We would never let an unexperienced rider take a child on her own and even less a child with autism. We offered for him to be taken by a guide but you refused. The hundreds of positive reviews are a sharp contrast to what you express. We are a small business and we turned down other reservations to accommodate for you and your family, we were prepared to provide the service, food and transportation were prepared for you as well.

An incredible riding adventure on a beautiful Dominican ranch. Some riding experience recommended, the horses follow each other closely and if one is encouraged to gallop, the others may follow. The lunch served following the ride was fantastic. The workers and locals facilitating lunch were kind and communication was very easy. We did go to Terra Nuevo ranch (I thought it would be called Cana Tequila) and learned we could stay on property there as well.

We drove into the mountains onto private property for the trail ride. The horses are very well kept and very well trained. The trail included riding on curving dirt roads, crossing creeks, going through coconut groves, and meandering meadows with the most beautiful mountain views I've ever seen!!!
We finished the trail and some riding companions took a cooling dip in the fresh riverwater fed pool. Lunch was included and was simply delicious, giving us an added glimpse of the warmth and beauty this region has to offer!! It was a breathtaking experience and I am so glad I added it to my vacation.

The guide was very nice however we were very dessapointed with the expérience.
The horses were not well trained at all. My wife expressed she was not à good rider and ended up with the crasiest Horse there. They did not supply helmets as stated in the add. One Horse was injures and bleeding. There was no safety concernant for any rideers

We had Jordan as our tour guide, and we can not speak more highly about this experience. Jordan was personable, it really felt like we were just hanging out with a friend for the day; he is awesome. The whole experience was very laid back and relaxed; we rode up the mountains to the top lookout, and then back down. The whole way up and down, Jordan would point out the plant life. We tried cacao and coconut water straight from the trees while on horseback. He took us to an authentic Dominican lunch at a Dominican House - the food was delicious. The day was packed, and we have zero complaints; it couldn’t have been more perfect. 10/10 recommend.

Arturo was incredible, we can’t say enough good about this experience! We’ve done other rides and feel this is best horse ride experience in Punta Cana. Excellent driver, great service and an overall amazing experience, book this now with confidence! The horses are cared for and treated very well. The ride was filled with amazing views and was a lot of fun. We aren’t proficient at riding horses but are familiar enough; Arturo ensured everyone was fitted to a horse who would be best for them. The horses are well mannered and have fun personalities adding a lot of laughs to the day. Following the ride we had a great traditional Dominican lunch of salad, rice, beans, and chicken at a local’s home before being driven back to our resort. The cook was very gracious, kind, and welcoming. The ranch is beautiful and very well maintained. The ranch is about 60 km from Bavaro and the scenery on the way is great.

My boyfriend and I went on this experience expecting horses that were well trained. It was our first time going horseback riding in general and the horses were very unsuitable in general for any tourist to ride. The horses were not listening at all to the reigns and the one guy running the tour on horse did not speak any English whatsoever. As soon as we mounted our horses they just took off on their own to wherever they felt like and bumped us into trees and other horses. It was near impossible to control them, nor were they interested in listening. I received quite a few bruises on my shoulder and legs from all the trees and palm leaves my horse ran into.
My boyfriend’s horse was especially bad, it just suddenly took off with him and galloped away into the brush really quickly. He had zero experience and could have been in grave danger. Luckily he held on, but it was extremely dangerous.
The one tour man had to chase after my boyfriend and I had no idea if he was safe or not. We also did not have any helmets.
3 stars was just for the view as it was in pictures, and despite the man not knowing any English, he did his best to keep our horses together and we did manage to get to the viewpoint and back.
It is extremely shocking that this establishment is even allowed to operate with these types of untrained horses. We were lucky that another family from our hotel was with us, and had some riding experience to let us know this was not normal.

First off I would like to say how much I admire the workers I've encounter with and the owner. Their passion for what they do shows a lot! The communication with the company was extremely easy and very efficient! It was my first time horseback riding and Cana Tequila makes me want to come back. They're very understanding, welcoming, and care for your safety! The entire trip was beautiful. I do recommend to book the mornings as our ended up being switched, but it was for the best, the heat is no joke!!! Don't hesitate to book with Cana Tequila, you will not be disappointed!

Arturo went above and beyond to allow me to do this excursion; I was the only one booked after others cancelled. I’d only ridden a horse once before…30+ years ago…but enjoyed this experience. Riding up/down a mountain is the real deal! The area was absolutely beautiful! Arturo was an excellent guide and even took/sent pictures of me via WhatsApp.

Jordan was awesome! We had 4 adults, was very informational, professional, picked us up at resort, rode horses up in the hills just shy of 5 miles, then took us to a local woman's house who made excellent braised chicken, salad w Rice and beans! Highly recommend!!

My husband and I were lucky enough to have a private excursion since we were the only 2 people that day. Yordan was the nicest, fun, guide and was very informative! Easy to talk to, he made it an experience to remember! The horses were so well trained and gentle, regardless of riding experience, you will definitely enjoy!

This was a once in a lifetime experience to ride horses up a mountain in Dominican Republic. We enjoyed this adventure because it was different than all others offered. Arturo and Yordan were a great team! After the ride you visit a local woman’s house to eat a traditional Dominican meal. This was again amazing! We had a great time. I should mention that we are beginners and did not have too much trouble on the ride. Like mentioned I would not recommend for travelers with back problems or stability issues. Otherwise I give 5 out 5 all the way!!!

Absolutely fabulous, from start to finish. The views were spectacular and horses were very well behaved. Jordano and Chichi were great. The food was absolutely delicious. My one and only concern was my horse Maria, she was such a lovely, well behaved girl, but sadly her mane was thick with ticks which I assume was not helping her breathing. Rather upset me. I did mention it, but they seemed to shrug it off. Such a shame because otherwise this was an amazing adventure

Thank you vey much for your comments. With regards to the tick situation we had changed the treatment we normally use for a new product somebody suggested that turned out to be no good. I am happy to let you know that Maria is back to her old treatment and the tick situation is under control now.

Wonderful time riding horses to a mountain top with beautiful views. (Unfortunately my camera settings accidently got switched, so my pictures are not the best.) Horses were great and we loved that they "moved" on command. (...and didn't try to snack on food throughout the ride.) We passed many types of vegetations and streams throughout the ride. Our guide Yordan was super knowledgeable about the traditions, plants, etc. and shared his expertise with us both on our van ride and while horseback riding. (He also was overly kind to take so many pictures of us :-) There were swings at the top of the mountain allowing us swinging off the mountain and beautiful views. After our ride we ate a delicious typical meal (rice, beans, chicken and plantains), cooked by Virginia. It was a great day and we would highly recommend this tour!!! (Knowing some Spanish is a plus.)

This excursion was amazing. I was a bit nervous that my 7 year olds were too young, but the guides were so helpful and patient that it didn’t take very long for them to look like pros. The views were amazing and the swings truly created an unforgettable experience. For anyone who wants to leave the resorts and see the real Dominican, this is the excursion for you. And Arturo is absolutely wonderful. My kids voted this as the best excursion, even above snorkeling (and I’d have to agree).

Simply an amazing experience!! Arturo and his lovely dog, Kira, came to pick me up on time, and I heard a lot of interesting details about the country on the way to the ranch. I happened be the only person on this tour, and Arturo and his assistant, Redi, both made me feel really comfortable about it. The ranch is in a small village which allows you to see a glimpse of the real life in DR and outside the resorts, all while being in good hands and 100% safe. The ride on the horses to the mountain top through the jungle was absolutely breathtaking, I don’t even have the words to describe the views! I usually don’t write reviews but this experience was simply unforgettable and you do not want to miss it! Mil gracias de nuevo, Arturo!!! :)

My husband and I went with our 12 year old daughter. She is in love with horses and has done horse camps and been on several horse back riding experiences. She said this was by far the best experience. The guides were great with instructing us on how to handle the horses and give us a very unique experience.

Even though I made a last minute reservation, the owner - Arturo - (who speaks perfect English) made contact promptly to coordinate my pick-up from the hotel. Punctual pickup, comfortable car ride to the starting location, personalized ride. The horses had wonderful temperaments and were very easy to ride. I really enjoyed the trail in the Dominican countryside with beautiful rural views.
