What To Expect

Make your own way to the Kitesurf Academy in Punta Cana, to meet your instructor and begin your kitesurfing lesson. After getting suited up and listening to the safety briefing, head out to the beach to get started. Depending on the option selected, you’ll enjoy either 1-, 2-, or 3-day course, including a 3-hour daily lesson tailored to your individual level.

Lesson 1: Enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the sport of kiteboarding, beginning with learning about wind theory and the wind window, then getting hands-on as you learn how to use the different equipment. Using a trainer kite, have your first go at piloting the kite, and practice steering with one hand.

Lesson 2: Hone your skills on a full-sized kite and learn how to control it in the water as you practice techniques such as a water relaunch and downwind body dragging. Enjoy the thrill of catching the wind and zooming across the water for the first time.

Lesson 3: Master more complex manoeuvres such as an upwind bodydragging technique, used to recover the board; ride the board in both directions; and try your first waterstarts.
