My sister and I just went to DR and this was our favorite excursion out of the 3 we did!! The reviews are very deceiving. This was an action filled day from start to finish. If you enjoy being outdoors and you’re fit this is a perfect excursion for you!! My sister and I both enjoy hiking and being outdoors. It’s an all day excursion you won’t be back until 6/7pm. My sister and I loved the whole ride to the destination because we got to see a lot of the DR countryside. We also learned so much history from the tour guide!!! Additionally they stopped at a gift shop which I think is so helpful when trying to get souvenirs for loved ones! Immerse yourself in nature and book this excursion!! (P.S this was the most beautiful beach all trip!!)
Lori_H, May 2023
The waterfall and beach visit were wonderful. Be prepared to travel a long way to get there. We enjoyed learning about the DR during the ride. Bring water, it was only supplied at the end. I feel the phrase “Bacardi” is a bit misleading. You get one little drink. It’s def not a booze cruise. The buffet lunch was good but also not until later on. We were starving by time we got there so bring a bar or snack. Overall worth it to us but it was a long day.

This trip was terrible. When we realized that this place was five hours away and asked for a refund it was too late. Called the people to cancel and would not allow us to cancel. On the day of the trip no one picked us up. No phone calls or anything. Terrible representatives and no one called to apologize, but took our money and did not refund us back. DO NOT GO ON THIS TRIP!!!!

Hello,
it's a pity you missed this tour. When you book a tour, flight or hotel you accept the cancellation policy. This is a long tour which you can not cancel the same day, many things are prepared the day before to receive

Had an amazing experience. So much packed into one excursion—boat ride, open air truck ride up the mountain, horse riding, beautiful waterfall we swam under, and a relaxing beach. Be prepared for a long day—especially coming from Punta Cana, but so worth it!
Norman_G, May 2023
Great experience, from a relaxing boat ride to the island, driving through towns and seeing the countryside, to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The horseback ride was a little tricky, as the horses had to navigate rocky trails to get to the waterfall. Then a climb down a steep trail. The waterfall was amazing and there is no rush. The guides were patient and had a good time with us. The only drawback was the steep hike back up the trail from the waterfall to the horses (apprx 250 steps). This was a WORKOUT for sure. The lunch at the top was incredible. The next stop was to Bacardi Island for some beach and swim time. Very relaxing, crystal clear water, sandy beaches. The tour guide was top notch, very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this excursion.

Picked me up 30 minutes late, 15 hours of travel time for 30 minutes at the waterfall and 90 minutes at the beach. We had to turn boat around halfway at end of trip to pick up family that didnt listen to directions to meet at 4:30pm to depart. This added another hour to our total travel time.

There were so many things wrong with this tour, I am just going to start from the begininning.....
This tour should not be sold to anyone staying in Punta Cana. It should also have an extreme warning about age and physical ability. It is simply too far for it to be an enjoyable day. I had concerns about this based off looking at a map and called and was told that it was "about an hour bus ride". This was absolutely not true and looking back I feel like they said that just to get our money (which we had issues with other excursions doing the same thing during our stay).
This is fully a 12 hour day, with roughly 10 hours of travelling. This was roughly the agenda, which we found out AFTER we got on the bus:
3 hours on a bus, arrive at boat dock
45 minutes on a boat....NOT a luxury catamaran, and no refreshments
45 minutes on an open air shuttle vehicle with incredibly uncomfortable seats
45 minutes on the back of a horse (more about that later)
45 minutes at the waterfall
45 minutes back on the horse
30 minutes on the boat to the island/beach
1 hour at the beach
45 minutes on the boat
3+ hours on the bus dropping everyone off
The booking says lunch and two drinks on the catamaran. They served us bologna and cheese sandwiches with a bottled water at the dock. No refreshments on the boat.
The horseback ride was an absolute nightmare. I am surprised that PETA is not camped out at this facility. It was absolutely, 100%, horrible conditions for the horses and very dangerous for the riders. It was 45 minutes, one way, of the poor horses slogging through foot deep, mud and rocks. The description says that you take a horseback ride through "coffee and cocoa plantations" which is a lie. You are riding a poor, underweight horse, through mud and rocks in the jungle with a guide leading each horse. Horses were stumbling and trying to get through, only to be whipped by their guide. It was completely horrible and scary.....and I am a very experienced rider.
After you get off the horse, you have to go down a lot of stairs to the base of the waterfall. This was actually easier than expected from the description. The waterfall was beautiful and my only complaint about this portion was all the people trying to sell you pictures, demanding that you pose for them, basically just being pests. They would literally not leave us alone and just let us enjoy the waterfall. The hike back up was strenuous, but expected. One positive on the return was the buffet lunch, which was actually pretty good. One very negative about this portion was all of the people lecturing or straight up asking you for tips, repeatedly.
The time at the beach was OK, but everyone was so tired that we were just basically waiting to leave. Most of the group from our bus just sat at the bar. Leaving was a complete cluster F**k. All of the tours that were at the island were trying to leave at 4pm. The boats backed up at the dock. They loaded our boat by tying it up to another boat and we walked through the other boat to get to ours. This would not have been a major deal, except that the surf was rough and it became very dangerous for people to get through. A person in our group got their leg smashed between the boats when they shifted. It was a major accident waiting to happen.
In a nutshell...
This tour was not as described and definitely not forthcoming with the details. It was dangerous at multiple points (horses, boarding/off-loading boat). It is not suitable for the elderly, overweight, children/teens, or anyone not in pretty good physical shape.
It is totally NOT worth the money or time, if you are staying in Punta Cana, especially when you add in all the money that is expected for tipping.

Nice tour, Well organized.
Great look of the wild forest, nice waterfall but facilities is very local.
Remember to add 20% tip to the total cost

Tío Raphael was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He took care of the group and communicated through every hiccup along the way. He was the best part of the trip! It started off rocky, getting drenched on the boat as we battled a storm. We kept it light and laughed it off and moved on. I was looking forward to the waterfall but I never made it due to some physical pain and apprehension over the horses, many of whom were slim and aged. There is the option to walk but we had inclement weather and with my pain, I didn’t want to push it. The people were extremely friendly and welcoming while I waited and made sure I had drinks and conversation until the group got back. I enjoyed my time at the beach, though the drinks were completely watered down and I never got a taste of the promised Mamajuana. Overall, I recommend and would do it again when I’m in better health.

Great trip. Highly recommended it. The trip combines many high quality activities and Rafael is awesome
Theresa_S, May 2022
Miguel, guide and Francisco, driver were just terrific— history of the island, facts about their economy, culture and so much fun. While the stop on Bacardi Island was memorable, the waterfall is EVERYTHING.
I would like to note that I was initially apprehensive as reviews mentioned the undernourished and maltreatment of the horses. I did not see a single malnourished horse— and I do not know enough about horses to know if the ride along the cobble filled trail was tough for them. If you are unsure— the hike is to the waterfall is quite pleasant— and short. Only 30 minutes.
Make sure to wear a suit as you’ll want to dip into the water—

This was an awesome day tour if you like adventure. The day starts early, we were picked up from our hotel at 6:15am and joined two other groups on the bus then were transferred to another bus with the rest of our larger group from other areas. (this happens for almost all tours in Punta Cana because there are a lot of hotel/resorts and they are very spread out, so it actually saves time instead of riding on the bus for hours to everyone's hotel as there were about 25+ people in our group). The bus ride is a few hours to the coast where they take you on a boat to the Samaná peninsula, not to worry there is bathroom break about halfway! Then the boat is ride is about an hour, it can be choppy so if you get sea-sick take medicine before. Then once you reach Samaná you take a truck ride to the area where you have lunch and the horses are kept. You get matched up with a horse keeper and they guide you through the path to the waterfall Salto del Limón, it's about a 20-30 minute journey on horseback each way. Once you reach near the waterfall you do some walking which is about 10-20 minutes before you reach the waterfall. The walking is a sweat and a decent workout as its uphill and downhill (do not recommend if you don't want do any walking), we did this for my Dad's 66th birthday and he enjoyed it very much but he's also very fit and grew up on an island. So if you're not interested in getting a little dirty, walking, and sweating I do not recommend this tour for you. Then you spend about an hour at the waterfall and then walk back to your horse and ride back to lunch. Lunch is a typical buffet like you see on all the tours, the food was good and you can eat as much as you want. Then you take the boat to Cayo Levantado which is a beautiful island off the coast and hangout there for about two hours they also provide everyone with a pina colada in a pineapple with or without rum! After spending time at the beach you make your journey home the same way it started, boat, bus, hotel bus transfer. We're back to our hotel by 7:20pm. Overall the day and trip was beautiful and so much fun! We made so many friends and memories. Rafael was our tour guide and he was awesome! Great tour with friendly tour people and locals. Highly recommend this tour!

Horse Rides and the waterfall. Our tour guide was fun and entertaining. The food was good as well. Very professional

Tour guide Miguel was amazing. Our driver Billy was great. All the spots were worth the long day! I would definitely recommend.
Take a bathing suit, socks, sunscreen, hat, towel. And don’t forget money for tips the people really only get paid by the tips.
Ashley_G, Mar 2022
FRAUD. They took us on a completely different tour that they hid in the notes(whale watching vs bacardi island). YOU WILL NOT GO TO BARCARDI ISLAND HALF THE YEAR. YOU DO NOT GO ON A FUN CATAMARN. NO CIGARS. NO DRINKS. Half of our group knew they get sea sick and would NEVER sign up for 3 hours of whale watching in 4' seas but guess what we ended up doing?
Moving on from that. The poor horses have to walk on this insane 25% concrete path that had 6" deep edges. my poor horse had a bum right ankle, I was so mortified by their conditions that's all I could think of. The assistant that helps you is very nice and try very hard but it was very clear they live in destitution and give you the hard sell on giving tips.
For some reason we did the BS whale watching trip first so by the time we got off the boat for food we were all sick and exhausted - couldn't eat the food. The complimentary drinks were dark rum and sprite??? Who drinks rum and sprite? Especially after being sea sick for 3 hours? Also the only snacks we were given were warmed up ham and cheese??
Paid $50 for photos we STILL haven't gotten yet. (I should have known when they said they'd email instead of air dropping or handing us a flash drive I'd never see those pics.)
When I emailed for someone to explain why the ENTIRE post for this tour says one thing and we went on a completely different tour their response was "there is one line in the description that says we do whale tours during season". That was their solution? I'm convinced they've got it written that way so when they don't have enough people for both tours they just combine the 2 for their profits.
DO NOT GO ON THIS TOUR OR USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a great time! So much to see and do! The transportation team were great and took great care of us. Miguel from Runners Adventures was the best! Very charasmatic and knowledgeable!

Miguel and Daniel were our guides for the day. They were very personable. The ride was fun and informative. The waterfall was insanely colorful. The island was picture perfect and more remote compared to other locations. Great trip. Bring lots of cash for tips as there are multiple people who will interact with you through the day.

One of the best our tour , its very organised. It is very beautiful and the tour guide was very kind to us
David_V, Nov 2021
From pickup to drop off. This tour was amazing. Yes.. it is a full day tour, and you will be wiped out afterwards. But this is a 10/10 tour. Our tour guide sexy papi was hilarious and treated us like family the whole time. Waterfall and beaches we’re AMAZING, had some of the best lunch as well.
Stacey_N, Oct 2021
If you are looking for a full day (12 hr) excusion with history, culture, fun & incredible sights, this is the trip for you. We loved our tour guide (shout out to Sexi Papi) who gave us lots of great info about life in DR along the tour. Yes, it is a lot of travel (air conditioned van to boat, to covered truck, to horseback ride, and then all this in reverse back to your resort). But we felt it was fun & interesting the entire way. The highlight for us was jumping off and swimming behind a gorgeous waterfall. Most people we spoke to did not even know about this tour, it is in my opinion a hidden gem! Bring cash to tip your guides. They appreciate it & make their living off tourism. You get to see villages, houses & businesses of the locals which is interesting. Lunch on the ranch was delicious. Horseback riding was great. Make sure you barter with the merchants who try to sell you trinkets though, they can be pushy, so be firm & don’t pay more than you feel its worth. Overall excellent guides, we felt safe, they watched our bags all day so nothing was stolen & we could swim & enjoy, we highly recommend this tour!

The driver Juan Cruz was great on time and very helpful, hope everyone get him as their driver for pick up and drop off.
After changing to a bigger bus, you are off. Our guide “sexy Papi” gave a lot of cultural information on our way to the boat.
The only part that was confused is we where told we can get breakfast when we get to the boat dock. This was not the case for the restroom line was long and no one did not have time to order anything.
The boat ride was nice and enjoyable. The crew was great and passed out Soda and water.
Once you arrive at the doc you get on a Safari truck and go though the town. This was great to see the culture outside of the tourist area.
Then you get to the horse back riding , able to use the rest room. Now everyone should wear close toe shoes. But if for some crazy reason you don’t. They do have rain boots for free for you to wear, however you do have to purchase the socks.
Everyone one get their own guide to the falls that walks with your horse. Even if you know how to ride (like myself). This is understandable due to the rocks can be slipper or like in my case my horse did not want to be slow. Lol The horse are very well taken care of, by the guides.
Please note that the guides only get paid via what you tip them. So please tip them something.
There is Beautiful scenery and the guides pointed out cocoa plants and other plants and animals as you saw them along the way.
You then reach a point where you get off you horse and hike to the falls. This is a HIKE, there are steps but it is long and if not use to hiking it can be to much. But you can rest along the way, for it is worth it.
The falls was Beautiful and worth the hike, you get to spend about 1hr at the falls swimming , taking pictures and the brave people where allowed to jump of a rock ledge into the waterfall pool.
Then you dry off and hike back up to the horses. The guide get your horse and you ride down.
Once you are back to the horse area, it lunch time. It’s a simple lunch buffet style and will fill you up.
After lunch it’s back into the Safari truck, and then into the boat.
The boat then takes you to Bacardi island, this island is actually an orchard but it shut down due to Covid right now. Here you get to have a piña colada in a pineapple, or you can purchase other drinks.
You get an hour on the island to swim in the ocean and enjoy the beach. Our group would have of courses like this part to be long. Lol
Then back to the boat you go. We hit some rain on the way back. The crew were amazing and nice about it all even gave out drinks again.
Once at the dock you get onto the bus again. You drive for a bit, “sexy Papi” then let you know you are stopping at a little market. You can purchase some souvenirs, get food and drink. There’s even an area where you can order warm sandwiches.
Then back on the bus for the long drive. You do stop at the same location as earlier to switch to a smaller bus. “Sexy Papi “ and all the drivers were very helpful to make sure everyone got on the right bus to take them back to their hotel.
I would recommend this excursion to everyone. Just keep in mind it is a full day trip. We where picked up at 6:40am and dropped off at 7pm.
It was so early that our resort did not have any type of breakfast ready for people with early excursions than 7 AM, however that’s on the resort not this excursion.
I enjoyed every part of the excursion and the guide and drivers.
Adamarys_R, Sep 2021
I had a great time, everything was very organized. The tour is long but worth every second. I will definitely come back again. The guide leader, driver, horse keepers and everyone I encounter was very helpful.
Louis_M, Aug 2021
Jesus our tour guide was patient and knowledgeable. The tour has much travel but worth every bit. The horse riding was a big hit with my family. Lunch was good.
Lisa_M, Jul 2021
This is not a tour for drinking "bacardi" this is a tour of Bacardi Island.
Overall excellent tour..
Horseback riding through rugged terrain, climbing to the waterfall and back up.
Description needs to be updated to let customers know about physical requirements of excursion.
Brittany_B, Jul 2021
This is a very long excursion so come prepared with water, snacks, towels and a change of clothes if you want to! Pick up started very early from our resort at 630 and spent about 1.5 hrs picking up others that then lead to a larger bus with the entire group for the day. This bus ride lead to a boat that takes you to soana island. The boat ride leaves you drenched from the splashing of waves but they do give you a free poncho that helps! Once to the island you board another bus that takes you to the horses which was a little chaotic, if you do not have closed toed shoes they have water boots you can purchase. Each person is paired with a volunteer that works only off tips and stays with you and the horse the entire time. This is about a 25 min ride up to the water fall and back down each way. To get to the waterfall there is a lot of steps but so worth it. Here you can swim but it is very rocky def need water shoes. After your done at the water fall you head back down to a buffet lunch which was very good! After that you get back on the bus to get back on the boat and go to Bacardi island where you get about 1.5 hrs on the beach. This was beautiful ! Then you board back on the boat and head back to the bus again. All in all there is a ton of travel involved in this long day which makes it so tiring but there is a lot to see during the travel time on the bus. It was a very cool experience. Make sure you bring a lot of cash to tip we ended up running low. I would suggest 60-100$ You do stop at a gift shop on the way back home as well!
Maylin_M, Jul 2021
Very enjoyable trip. Very well organized. Our guide was the best and the guides are the ranch were very welcoming. What an incredible view of the falls
Tyson_A, Jun 2021
Overall a great trip, if you know what you’re getting into from the beginning. Lots of travel, but the destinations are worth it.
- They pick you up from your hotel around 6am.
- You meet up with the other parties and you all leave together around 7am (so already 1 hour of travel)
- You then travel 1.5 hours on bus to through the northern island countryside. You stop about 45 minutes in for a bathroom break and to stop a local store. The countryside is beautiful to look at. The guide was great and talked about different facts and history about the Dominican Republic.
- After the bus ride you board a boat. Ours was pontoon boat. Not fancy at all; for some reason we thought it was going to be nicer, with bathrooms and snacks and stuff. They do offer some soda in a small cup. You then take a 45 minute boat ride up north to Semana. The boat ride is fun and pretty- our waters were kinda choppy which made it fun for us.
- After landing in Semana, you are then on ANOTHER bus ride. This one is shorter- probably more like 20 minutes. This takes you to the ranch.
- At the ranch you get on a horse which takes you down to the waterfall. The horse ride is awesome and the views spectacular. Our horse guides were fantastic.
- The waterfall is incredible, and swimming in it is a dream. I honestly wish we could’ve spent all day here. You take the horse back up, then eat lunch at the ranch, which was great.
- Then it’s the bus back down to Semana, then on a boat again to a beautiful private island where you get to spend a little over an hour relaxing on a beautiful beach. This was amazing too.
- Boat back to the buses, buses back to the hotel. We didn’t get to our hotel until closer to 8pm.

The best tour!!! I went on all the tours, Saona, Scape park, Buggy, Zipline, horseback riding. This is the best one by far!! The experience is authentic and so much fun!! Manuel and Alejandro helped us out and they were so great. My only complaint is that they don’t pay their workers. They set them up as volunteers so that all they get paid are our tips. Every one gets assigned one volunteer to assist and carry their things through the rigorous course. I did not like that as it seems the tour is abusing of their poverty. Make sure you bring cash to tip your volunteer.
Debbie_F, May 2021
Our guide Nacho was great! Very helpful and a lot of fun. The waterfall is beautiful and so is the island. The volunteers that helped with the horses were great also and went above and beyond to help. It is a long day but worth it. The steps too and from the waterfall can be challenging if you are out of shape or have medical issues so keep that in mind. Be sure to tip the helpers, drivers and most importantly your guide! They work hard to please and earn their living off of your tips! Be generous :)
