The biggest disclaimer I would give is if you are even remotely prone to sea sickness, then you should avoid this tour. We had the bumpiest 2.5 hours on our way to Amantani and felt like our intestines will roll out! Lol
Otherwise, it’s a very nice tour with very good experiences at all three islands. It makes you see a very different side of Peru and feel grounded. Ricardo was a great tour guide and give us good information throughout the tour. I just wish the boat that we travelled in was of a better quality. Washrooms were not great and constantly had the smell of diesel or gasoline, whatever they use that made me more nauseous .. The Amantani homestay is definitely a highlight.

Dear Tanvi,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed exploring the Uros, Amantani, and Taquile Islands and that Ricardo made your journey informative and memorable.
We truly appreciate your honest feedback regarding the boat and facilities, this helps us continue improving our services for future travelers. We’re already working closely with our local partners to enhance comfort on board and ensure smoother sailing experiences, especially on windy days.
We hope the unique beauty and cultural warmth of Lake Titicaca made the trip worthwhile, and we’d love to welcome you back again for more unforgettable experiences in Peru!

Visiting lake Titicacca is a must; it provides a different perspective to the peruvian way of life which contrasts with that found in the cities and it also provides nice views and vistas if the weather permits. I opted for the two day visit organised by Jumbo Travel Puno. On the first day we visited the Uros floating islands; opinions about this part of the tour varied amongst us visitors. For me personally it was the least enjoyable part of the tour; I was expecting to see a whole community of people in action showing us their way of life. Instead the island we visited was inhabited by two families who were very interested in selling us souvenirs. I was also unimpressed with the gondola boat ride which we had to pay extra for since it provided no further insight to life on the island; I saw the exact same things on the ferry which brought us over to island in the first place. On the other hand I do understand that these people have to somehow make a living; just my personal point of view.
The visit to Amantani was amazing; don’t expect any luxury. The accommodation and food is simple but very authentic. The highlight of this part of the tour was the party organised by the locals; live music was played by the locals whilst us visitors all danced together dressed im traditional costumes. The atmosphere was lively; quite a memorable experience.
The next day we visited the island of Taquille which was also very enjoyable. On both Amantani and Taquille we were treated to amazing views, but be aware that this involves walking up considerable height with steep slopes (on well paved passages).
I would also like to thank and commend our tour guide Carlos. He was very organized and very informative. I really appreciated his effort to explain in detail in both Spanish and English.
Overall it was a great experience, I would do it again

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review!
We’re delighted to hear that your overall experience on Lake Titicaca was memorable and that you enjoyed the beauty, culture, and authenticity of Amantani and Taquile Islands. It’s wonderful to know that the community celebration in Amantani left such a lasting impression — dancing with the locals in traditional dress truly is a highlight for many visitors.
We also appreciate your kind words for Carlos, your guide. We’ll be sure to share your compliments with him — he’ll be very happy to know his efforts in guiding and explaining in both Spanish and English made your journey even more enjoyable.
Regarding your feedback about the Uros Floating Islands, we understand your perspective. The local communities depend heavily on tourism, and while some parts can feel more commercial, it’s still an important opportunity for cultural exchange and economic support for the families living there. We’ll share your observations with our local partners to ensure that the experience remains as authentic and educational as possible for future travelers.
Thank you again for traveling with Discover Lake Titicaca and for your sincere reflections. We’re truly glad to know you’d do it again — and we’d be honored to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience on the world’s highest navigable lake.

Cordialement,
Israel Chalco
