Unexpectedly Amazing

Kyle_M, Apr 2026
Our guide, Richard, shared his in-depth knowledge of the local area, and introduced us to a wonderful family on an Uros Island, who demonstrated how they lived. Afterward we enjoyed a delicious trout meal for lunch with a lake view.

Really nice morning! We wanted a few hours to for the Uros islands and exactly what we got! First you go to an island to visit a family who live there. The president was lovely and showed us her home. Next you visit a more touristy one - with souvenirs/restaurant. It was a great morning! I would recommend. The boat ride was great and the guide and driver very lovely.

Too staged and commercialized

Chae_P, Sep 2025
The Uro Island is too staged and commercialized that pressure the tourist to purchase totally unwanted souvenirs. We visited Lima, Cusco, Pisac, Urubamva, Machu Picchu and Uro Island and all of those places had exactly same souvenirs not so practical or appealing. If those locals just performed and displayed building process of floating island instead of pressuring tourists to purchase unwanted souvenirs. we could much appreciated and willingly offered bigger gratuities.

KALYANI_S, Aug 2025
This tour was exactly as expected. A 3-hr. tour with pickup from our hotel to drop off at the hotel. And a 2-hr. boat ride with an exposure to the life and conditions of the Uros people who live on floating reed islands in Lake Titicaca near Puno. The English guide was very helpful in translating the native language for us. The lady whose island we visited was enthusiastic to show us her way of life. At the end there was a show of their handicrafts and since they were nicely made, we purchased some items. Bring cash for souvenirs and for tips. Overall, a good tour to get out while getting used to the altitude!

Touristy….

Philip_C, Aug 2025
Struggling between a three or four star to be honest. On one hand Titicaca and the floating islands is a bucket list thing. At the same time it is extremely touristy practically the entire lake revolves around tourism now. Lots of Airbnb, young people folk dancing, knitting shows, but yes they do very briefly tell you how they actually make the floating islands. The guide himself I thought did his job, delivered the information but the info content I won’t say is super rich The visit covered two islands, the second island seriously may as well not allocate time to it there’s not much to see it’s a place where they drop you off briefly try to get you to buy some food and souvenirs. Nobody push sold me anything along the entire trip so that I still appreciate

So fun! Well worth it.

Kara_C, Dec 2024
This was well worth it. Our guide was knowledgable and was not hurrying us along. He was great with the locals and explained everything in detail

A fascinating trip to see an old culture

Uros Islands adventure

Marc_R, Sep 2024
The floating islands of Uros is a must and our tour highlighted how the locals built their islands and homes and how they live and work within their environment. Our tour guide, Edwin, was fun and very knowledgeable. There are some great souvenirs for purchase made by the people of Uros, and the local trout chicharron is a must try.

Great Uros Island Private Tour

Yuko_T, Jul 2024
The 3-hour private tour of Uros Island with Hugo was amazing. Hugo’s English was really great – more than that – he seemed to be totally in the slipstream. He was incredibly insightful and knowledgeable. He related to all of us – parents and teenage boys equally. The highlight was meeting a local Uros – and Hugo was simply at home with them as he was with us. The family were so genuine and kind – it was magical and charming. We all keep talking about the experience and hold a true appreciation that we could be in that element for the half day. Hugo was really the bridge for us from our world to the Uros people.

Visit to Uros Floating Islands

Pratik_R, Jul 2024
We enjoyed our visit to the floating islands. Meeting with the Uros family was the highlight of our visit. They welcomed us into their home and walked us through their daily living, arts, culture and music. It was a wonderful culture tour. A must do when visiting Lake Titicaca.

Great day on the lake

Shyamanga_B, Jun 2024
What a great day out. Flexible guide Richard was excellent. Arranged everything, including pick up and luxury boat. When we changed plans to add a tasty fresh lunch and do a tour of Puno, he easily accommodated. Friendly, personable and knowledgeable guide.

A very informative and beautiful experience with the First Nation People the Uros.

Pemiel_P, May 2024
The experience was very informative as they explained how the Uros live, build their floating islands, what they eat, the artifacts they make, and everything else they engage in.

Lake Titicaca - Amazing tour

Nicole_S, Apr 2024
Lake Titicaca is incredible - a unique experience in Puno. Samuel, our guide was amazing! I definitely recommend this tour.

Great tour, unique experiences!

GeorgeMarangoly, Nov 2023
This guided tour was well-organised. We appreciated the hotel pick up / drop off, and the personalised knowledgeable tour guide who took great photos for us. Lake Titicaca is truly vast and impressive! The Uros Island experience is unique and we get insights into how the islands were constructed, and to see and buy the beautiful traditional Uros handicrafts and fabrics. The trip to an adjacent island in a traditional boat was great as also the opportunity to get a ‘Lake Titicaca’ stamp in one’s passport! Highly recommend this tour!

Really interesting!

Vitor_P, Nov 2023
Really interesting tour! You get the chance to visit the Uros community and get to know their costumes. Our guide, Samuel, was very knowledgable and gave us a really deep insight to all the communities that live in Lake Titikaka.

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Could be better

Cesar_L, Aug 2023
The guide was pleasant and the tour was well-organized (pick-up from hotel was on time and everything went smoothly). At Uros, however, we found that the priority of the locals was to pressure tourists to buy stuff, and everything was organized around that. While we understand that their income depends on tourism, the tour was already paid and should cover for that. This pressure is unconfortable and somewhat spoils the experience.

Interesting culture of living in a floating island

Iris_H, Nov 2022
The tour is informative to know about the history and culture of indigenous people living in the floating islands. The islands are quite small and the residents there are quite forceful to sell the souvenir.

Response from Host, May 2023

Thank you for your review. I'm glad to hear that you found the tour informative and that it provided insights into the history and culture of the indigenous people living on the floating islands. However, I apologize if you felt that the residents were forceful in their souvenir selling. We strive to ensure that our guests have a pleasant experience, and I will make sure to address this issue with the residents to ensure a more comfortable interaction for future visitors. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Peru =)

Must do Puno tour!!!

Brandon_C, Aug 2022

We really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Samuel and the boat picked us up from the dock at our hotel Hotel Libertador. Samuel was very knowledgeable and explained to us both the history and culture of the Puno region and of the Uros people. At the first island, he demonstrated for us how the Uros people built their reed islands. I was happy that he had forewarned us the Island people would be pushy with selling their crafts and that we were under no obligation to buy anything, as this gave us the confidence to negotiate and say no to things we did not wish to purchase. He also arranged for us to take a traditional reed boat to the Uros capital where we got our passports stamped with the Lake Titikaka seal. We returned back to our hotel just in time to catch the spectacular views of the sunset.

Kleiner Einblick in lokale Kultur

Judith_S, Nov 2023
