This food and culture tour truly exceeded my expectations and was one of the highlights of our time in Puerto Rico. It offered an incredible introduction to Afro–Puerto Rican cuisine and culture in a way that felt authentic, immersive, and genuinely meaningful.
It was my first time visiting this part of the island and its beaches, and I’m so glad we experienced it this way. Our tour guide was extraordinary—engaging, friendly, knowledgeable, and fun.
The small group size made a huge difference. There was plenty of food to go around, and everything we tasted was absolutely amazing. From flavorful Afro–Puerto Rican street food to locally crafted rum shots, every stop felt thoughtfully curated and delicious. The food alone would make this tour worthwhile.
The three beach stops were the perfect touch. This allowed us to cool off, unwind, and soak in the beauty of the coastline. At one stop, we purchased mojitos from a local vendor—and they were some of the best we’ve had. It added to the authentic, community-centered feel of the entire experience.
If you’re a foodie who loves learning about different cultures—or if you simply want an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience—this tour is a must. It’s more than just a food tour; it’s a celebration of Afro–Puerto Rican heritage, community, and flavor. Highly recommend!

This was a horrible tour that my friends and I ended up leaving early. The van we were transported in did not have a/c or working windows, the food we were given was not worth eating at all, and the alcohol was cheap (and we would have had to pay for most of it). Our guide appeared visibly high, and the area was not one that we thought most tourists would enjoy. We got our own transportation back to SJ, and we've requested a partial refund of the high tour cost, with no response. Do not waste your money on this experience.

Its unfortunate you and your guest did not like the tour. I was notified about your group not wanting to eat any of the food that was ordered for you, I was told that you didnt want to walk to kiosk or take shots. It seems nothing that was done satisfied you. I will say that as a company we do not tolerate drug use or drinking from any of our employees. We are looking into this matter now as we will not tolerate this behavior if it is to be true. The guide you had on Sunday has a very good report with us and leads our company with 5 star reviews for the food tour so to hear this is something new and unfortunate. I have went back to that exact date and he had received tips and good reviews from other travels that were on the tour as you so its wierd to hear this but not to dis credit you. I want to address that also that this tour covers your food cost and shots of alcohol is included in the price. I dont know why you are saying you had to pay for most of it with all due respect this statement is not true. I also know that the windows do work in that van and that there is AC as well but I will be looking into this matter to see how effectively it is cooling the vehicle immediately. I never received a response from you asking for a partial refund until i seen this review. I have even try to reach out to you to discuss this matter further with no reply. In response to you saying pinones is not a place tourist would enjoy. This is not true. It just depends on your expectations Many travelers have booked this tour and enjoyed it . Pinones is a historical food district filled with history and authentic traditional african puerto rican food. Pinones has a large part to do with the identity of Puerto Rico.For future travelers If you dont like culture or local spots away from tourist areas then this tour is not for you .

It was an okay experience overall, but not quite what I was hoping for. There was a beach stop, but we didn’t get enough time there to actually swim or relax and enjoy it, which was a bit disappointing. The bar crawl itself had decent energy, and the group was fun, but nothing particularly stood out. They did a good job communicating about a few unexpected issues that came up, which I appreciated—but those hiccups still affected the overall vibe. Also, the “included food” was just a small appetizer platter for the whole group (about 10 people), so definitely more of a light snack than a real meal.
If you’re going in with laid-back expectations and just looking for a casual night out, it could still be enjoyable—but it wasn’t quite what I expected.

To bring clarity to the situation this is a 4 hour tour.3 hours of this tour is spent near the beach. beside 30 minutes for eating. The tour on sunday last 5 hours. I gave extra time for guest to order hookas and extra drinks. I personally enjoyed the group so i didnt watch the clock as much.The group in all had a very good time over all and i have received 5 star reviews from people out the same group you were in . None of us were dressed up to go swimming nor was it concern from any of the guest or brought to my attention at least. I walked us out to the beach and took photos for everyone. and not at one time did you or anyone decide to just get in the water when it was right there.
About the food The ad says that you sample puerto rican/African Crusine. Due to the first tour guide not showing up due because of an emergency I asked for the staff at the restaurant to give us 12 trays of samplers for only 9 people who actually ate. 1 person from the group just wanted to eat fish. There was plenty of food. While i was talking to you guys at the table other guest were asking me to take some food but i declined until you guys were all finished eating first. The idea of it is to get travelers to try many things at once . I still appreciated the company and the feedback. safe travels.

It’s unfortunate that you didn’t enjoy your time on the tour. Our tour guide noted that you refused to walk anywhere including the service center where he gives facts about the island and the town of loiza. All of our staff was aware of this in real time.I was called that day due to the fact you ask him to take you home early as soon as you got your food and shots . For some reason you didn’t even want to take pictures which was odd. You have to be willing to participate in order to get a full experience.You didn’t take interest in the culture. You came out for the food and drinks You also wanted a refund too after you basically got everything the tour came with which is not a decent way to behave . For future travelers this is not a club venue. This is not a touristy area. What you called boring is a way of authentic living in loiza . That’s the purpose of the tour. If you enjoy culture, history,meeting locals, enjoying authentic puerto rican /african food and getting out of the tourist areas this tour is for you . Safe travels

This was such a fun tour! Earlier in the day my husband and I did a tour of the city with a different company and it was nice. But this was a completely different vibe! As advertised we were provided with a fun and tasty rum pouch then headed to Pinones. We made various stops and enjoyed good food, tasty drinks, and enjoyed the scenery. Our guide was super chill and nice and our group was fun. This is yhe perfect pregame activity for setting the vibe! Would recommend!

Such a fun tour with Isail! Started off with delicious rum pouches and good music for the ride to Pinones/Loiza. Isail was very attentive and informative. The food and drinks were delicious! We saw a beautiful beach and natural rock formations at a hidden local spot Isail took us too! Book this tour!

Easy made this tour super fun but also educational! Easy provided us with a drink pouch before getting started. We went to several different locations / beaches, had a free plate of different Afro-Puerto Rican food, free shots of liquor, and he lets you play your own music. He even takes pictures of you with the beautiful scenery behind. I loved this tour and would 10/10 do it again.

I recently went on the Piñones Bar Crawl and Beach Hop Tour with Drinks, and it was an unforgettable experience! The tour was the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. From visiting beautiful local beaches to experiencing the rich African influence in the area’s cuisine and bars, every stop felt authentic and welcoming.

I was a solo traveler for this adventure, which I was a little hesitant about from the start, but Izzy made me feel very comfortable. When we got to the first location, he offered to be my photographer for the evening since he knew I was alone, which I really appreciated. He takes really good pics...We went to a few local spots with the most amazing beaches that I would not have experienced if not for the tour. We were definitely off the beaten path... I was able to learn a little about the African influence on the culture and religion of PR and was even given some insight on things to experience when I return! I loved the down to earth nature of this experience!!

I like going on food tours to learn more about local culture and food that I should try, especially off the beaten path. Within that context, I think this tour was really not for me.
Our tour started with a rum pouch which was, ok. It was nice to have something in the car on the way but no context was given and it felt more like a way to get us drinking, which can be fine!
On the way we got a bit of history about pinones and the battle, however honestly I couldn’t hear the tour guide as I was in the back of the van. I ended up looking it up on Wikipedia to learn about it. We stopped at an interesting small museum and the tour guide told us a bit about bombas. I will say this was interesting, and I wanted to know a lot more!! In general I could have used more of a deep dive into what PR is all about and how that intersected with the food/drink we were trying.
We got to the first location which was a BBQ stand with chicken or pork ribs as your options. I will say the food was tasty - we liked both, and the sides we got were also nice and flavorful - rice/beans, yucca, tostones, and malanga. However, we got no context on the food, advice on what to order, or how this food is uniquely PR (or not). Something I look forward to a lot!
At our next stop, we got to try the local rum (Don Q) with coconut that was sooo smooth. We liked the vibe of this place a lot and agreed we’d love to come back! There were some other good looking foods we didn’t order. I wish our guide had advised us on other tasty things to try here. Especially because at the start of the tour, we asked about mufungo. But I think the tour guide forgot.
At this stop, I also was really turned off by the fact that there was a person walking around attempting to scam other patrons on the tour. They were doing the “donation” with a list of names scam that is really common (you can google it). I don’t think the tour guide realized, but this was really upsetting to me because a tour guide should be aware of people who prey on tourists. She was able to scam people out of some money before we left, and in general I think this left a bad taste in my mouth.
The next stop was a yummy mojito spot on the side of the road and this was definitely one of the best roadside cocktails I’ve ever had! This also came with a free shot.
The other part about the tour is that the vibe was very disorganized. We waited a while at each stop and found ourselves just kind of…sitting. The guide was having to rush to get people’s orders and then wait in the general line to get our food/drinks. I really liked our guide as a person, and I could tell he was trying really hard to keep us happy. I think fewer people and having a better system when stopping could help with this.
In general, I think this was a good value for the drinks/food you get. You definitely get tipsy! However, if you’re looking for a lot of education and advice on foods this really isn’t the tour for you. I would pay more for a more in depth tour!

Reading your review you have left me scratching my head. The guide that took you out is a local born and raised in Loíza . He has many great 5 star reviews so this is a little shocking to hear about . Also There are vendors out there that are selling items all over the place . You’re not the only person that they try to sell too. this is what they do for a living . It’s not a scam if they are offering you food and a customer decides they want to try it. Also i do agree with you on the part that Isail works extremely hard to give customer service . You also must understand that he is working with a restaurant and sometimes the restaurant may be having troubles getting out order or an order gets mix up or they may be other people who have ordered ahead of you because it is a local restaurant These things can happen . I’m going to leave you with this life is short be kind be polite and patient especially to those who are working hard to accommodate you. Also I will take some of what was said and make changes were need be .safe travels

I was amazed to see Pinones. We were greeted by our tour guide with rum punch and hit about 5 stops. My favorite was shelias Mojito and Pina Coloadas! The water was magnificent to look at and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I was also able to meet a few other solo travelers in the group and made friends! Definitely worth the money !
