Although its place on the Amalfi Coast makes it a great vacation destination, Positano also has excellent proximity to two of Italy’s well-known historic sites: Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. The legendary volcano that preserved the city of Pompeii in ash, Mount Vesuvius is still an imposing sight today. What a great tour! I’m so happy we booked it. The transfer to and from Positano was so easy and comfortable. Our guide Sasa at Pompeii was fantastic and our ride to Mt Vesuvius was well orchestrated. The walk up to the top is steep but was worth it. I was so impressed with how the tour was organized. Everything went like clockwork. Visiting in March was lovely.

Hopefully you are lucky enough to have Frankie as your guide in Pompeii. It is helpful that they offer round trip transportation directly to and from your hotel and between Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii Ruins. They handle all ticketing making it seamless for you. The only drawback is that we did not expect our shuttle to have a detour through another town on the way back so expect that the drive back might include an extra stop which added about an hour to the drive. (For reference, we were staying in Positano but the return shuttle had a stop in Sorrento).

The trip was amazing and was a great way to see Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii in one day from Positano. Our guide at Pompeii, Frankie, was incredible. His knowledge of Pompeii was deep and he was hilarious, cracking jokes the whole time. The transportation and van transfers to pick us up in Positano and then get us to all the sites and back worked very well and was all done is well air-conditioned vans. Highly recommend the trip!

Paolo our driver was very friendly and timely. My. Vesuvius was fun to hike up and we had a beautiful clear day to enjoy the view. We made it to the crater in 25 minutes. Frankie our guide in Pompeii was wonderful and engaging. He focused on showing our group the “main” attractions given it was only a 2 hour tour. I would recommend this tour.

We had an incredible time! Frankie was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and made sure we didn’t overheat during our visit (it was about 90 when we came). I learned so much during the tour and he was very approachable and answered all of our questions. Thank you Frankie for giving us a great experience!!

Visiting Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius was like taking a trip back in time. Our guide Frankie was incredible. He brought us to the most interesting sites within Pompeii and kept us engaged through the tour. We would have missed out on a ton if we hadn’t done the tour. Transport was also easy, and Giovanni was a great driver.

Pompeii was amazing and 5 star. Frankie is a great guide! But Mt Vesuvius was a bit of a mess. Drop off by driver that didn’t speak English and no instruction beyond a piece of paper that said the time we should be back. The older couple also with us didn’t make it until 20min later and we stood around with no clue what was happening. They don’t really give enough time to make it up and back if you need to rest at any point.

The trip was amazingly planned out, everything ran to time and we were kept informed throughout by Giovanni our driver who was lovely. Our tour guide Sasa was amazing, really engaging and gave an interesting tour of Pompeii. Would highly recommend this trip if you are looking to see Pompeii and Vesuvius in a stress free way!

Our tour guide in Pompeii was fantastic and very knowledgeable. The drive from Pompeii to Vesuvius was backed up with lots of cars and took a long time. There are only port-a potties at Vesuvius that are gross so go to the bathroom in Pompeii before you leave. You get about an hour to hike Vesuvius which is enough time but it’s very steep and strenuous so really does take the whole hour to go up and down. If I were to do this tour again I would pick Pompeii or Vesuvius but I would not do both in the same day. It’s a long day and a long drive to and from Positano. Also make sure you bring cash.

Francesco was an amazing guide. He had a great sense of humour and a wonderful knowledge of Pompeii. He made the tour fun rather than just presenting the facts in a dry and boring way. My 11 yo daughter even commented it was her favourite tour of our entire trip and she is a hard nut to crack!
I do agree with other reviews where communication with the tour organiser was very difficult and had to be followed up to get the basic info needed such as where to meet and what time. But in true Italian style… it may have seemed chaotic but in the end it all worked out ok. I would highly recommend this tour.
Vesuvius we too only had one hour which was a tough ask. It’s a big walk all uphill and in the heat not an easy task. We basically made it to the crater and had to return immediately to meet our guide. Whilst you don’t need to be an iron man to make it to the crater it isn’t a walk in the park.

Great trip. I'd give it a 5 but the communication with the tour guide needs to be improved. I've lived in Florida with a heavy tourist function and you need to understand. That we've never been here. Exact location where to meet had to be dragged out of operator and I had to pester them for it. Not cool. Pompeii and our guide Sass was phenomenal and his passion and details of Pompeii made that part great. Driver at Vesuvius was rushing us and gave us very little time at the top of Vesuvius so if you are not in good shape and do not want to be rushed, book another tour.

sasa was so knowledgeable about pompeii. he was born, raised and still lives in pompei with his wife and children. he know the ruins like the back of his hand and his stories were expertise, his personality charming yet funny

The tour of Pompeii was pretty decent, but the tour communication was severely lacking. We got grouped with other tours from Praiano, and we barely got time to eat lunch. Then, we randomly ended up at a winery, which was not included in our tour, and they were going to have us pay out of pocket for! The tour felt very rushed (we only got 1 hour to hike 300 m to the crater and back!). Overall, I wouldn't have minded the winery if they had asked us first, but we were very tired and had to ask them to take us back to Positano (which luckily, they did via a private taxi).

Dear customer, if you have booked a shared tour it is normal to be together with other people who perhaps also come from Praiano who then booked a tour without lunch and we did not pay for you, we think it is not our fault. what you thought was a private taxi was actually one of our cars that waited for you outside the winery for 10 minutes while you sat down at the table thinking you could eat without paying and our driver Nicola came to call you explaining that you didn't have lunch included and the wine shop certainly didn't give it to you for free,

Pompeii was amazing and Francesca our guide absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately we didn't get to Vesuvius as it was closed because of the mist and rain on the mountain but our entry ticket cost was refunded promptly.

Our tour guide Sasa made us want to stay in Pompeii all day. He made sure we heard all the amazing history in the time we had, and got us to the crowded areas when there was little congestion. He knows his way around Pompeii and loves to share it with you. He has a deep archeological background, and gives this tour a unique perspective with his rich knowledge.
Vesuvius is a walking tour on your own with beautiful views from all the allowed elevations.(Bring sneakers for this part, and be aware that the Vesuvius climb is not for you if you’re out of shape.)

My Wife and I did the Pompeii and Vesuvius Tour and loved it. This company did an excellent job getting us there and back and the tour guide at Pompeii was great. I would highly recommend for anyone trying to see both places in one day. If you really want to see a lot of Pompeii then maybe just book Pompeii only. We would have liked to have a little more time there to walk around. Also, the Vesuvius trip is a little bit of a climb so wear good shoes and pack waters. The view at the top is stunning!

Our Guide Sasa was exceptional.
Fun, intelligent and thoughtful. We were amazed at how extensive the ruins are, how well preserved they are and how much is left to be discovered.
