Very cool experience with absolutely amazing sights. The tour guide was very nice and informative. There was plenty of swimming time and the water was wonderful! I definitely would recommend, as it’s a great way to get out of the city!

First, the good stuff: Being able to stay in Rome and still see the Mediterranean was amazing! The tour guide was very friendly and helpful. The bus ride there was fine and comfortable. The ferry was crowded but thankfully, I didn’t get seasick (took Travelgum). Ponza Island is absolutely stunning! The water goes from turquoise to deep blue. To be able to snorkel in the sea was a bucket list item for my husband. It was very special experience. Now for the constructive feedback: the boat is too crowded. There were at least 35 of us on first level and maybe 6-10 could fit upstairs. The benches were hard and you are elbow to elbow. Once people claim their seats there’s no switching. Some people placed their bags on the bench and then sat down somewhere else, taking up that space. Here was our biggest complaint: smoking and vaping is allowed on the small boat! It should be prohibited or at least restricted to an area of the boat and when guests are swimming. The gentleman seated by us vaped the ENTIRE trip. It was terrible. The pasta lunch is ok. I recommend less olive oil and more Parmesan, salt and pepper. The bus ride back we were stuck in traffic which extended the trip another hour. We are glad we went but there is room for improvement. Regarding the size of the group, the boat service is operated by a local partner, and during high season it can be busier. For guests seeking a more exclusive experience, we also offer small group or private boat tours, which allow for more space and flexibility.
As for the smoking, we understand your concern — however, in Italy smoking and vaping are legally allowed in open-air public spaces. That includes boats like this one. We do our best to create a respectful environment onboard, but we also follow captains rules since the boat is handled by another company, and can not impose a rule..
About the lunch: due to the lack of refrigeration on board, we can’t serve cheese or perishables like Parmesan, even though we understand it might enhance the taste for some. Our goal is always to offer a simple, fresh option that works for most guests.

The island of Ponza is beautiful and sailing/swimming around the island amazing.There is a lot of travelling to get there and back from Rome but we were aware of this and it was ok.I originally booked the trip through get your guide which was cheaper than viator.I received a text cancelling my trip from the operator eco art and was given 2 alternative dates Friday/Saturday neither possible for us to attend.We then booked through Viator for the Thursday which I could make but slightly more expensive, I then received a text from the same person at eco art welcoming me and confirming my trip.So why didn’t they offer me the Thursday originally it looks like they just wanted to hike up the price.I contacted Viator through their price match policy and was fobbed off.Beware of booking this trip as it maybe cancelled and have the price increased.Also avoid booking through Viator if you can as it is more expensive.

The guide was wonderful. The boat trip was beautiful. Something happened to our return ferry where the tickets were not booked far enough in advance. We had to take a different ferry. This created an extra 2 hours of travel. It made a long day even longer. Due to this, I would not recommend it for young children or older people. We were in a large family group. The older and younger folks found the long ferry and shuttle ride to be a bit much.

The original ferry was unfortunately cancelled by the ferry company due to operational reasons beyond our control. As a result, the group was moved to the next available departure, which did lead to a longer return journey. It was really fun i enjoyed the spots where we stopped and could swim, didn’t offer a lot of water except when we ate. And there was an overbooking so we had another hour long bus ride. we were traveling more than we were on the boat. But other than that it was really fun

Just to be clear: water is ALWAYS available on board, you just have to ask for it, simply the bottles are kept in an ice-box to keep them fresh, but the fact their not shown doesn’t mean they are not available….
Yes, sadly the return that day was a bit longer than the standard: as you correctly told there was an overbooking problem with the standard ferry we use: it was the only solution not to cancel the tour..

It was so amazing! It’s a long tiring day so sleep well the night before. There was more than enough pasta, wine, and water for everyone. I brought my own snorkeling gear but they do give you a chance when you get on the bus to add it if you didn’t prepay. I went solo but met great people there. I was nervous about leaving my stuff on the boat but it was 100% safe. The water was wonderful. It was very hot tho so bring your sunscreen, shades, and hat. Water shoes are not necessary as most places we swam (besides the cave) were so deep you couldn’t touch the rocks beneath the water. Mara is an excellent tour guide and super friendly! You should definitely book this trip. You won’t regret it!!
The only down sides were:
-No toilet paper in the bathroom on the boat
-You pay the ferry fee in cash before getting the bus. I had not read this before booking so the grand total for the day is 260€ without snorkeling gear or 290€ with it. This is per person. I think it was helpful to have everything pre planned so I didn’t mind the extra expense although I did consider going independently.

Great tour, you get to go around the island and swim three times in general as well as admire the beauty of the landscape what you do need to be aware of, what is not mentioned as far as I know in the general travel information regarding this tour is that pick up is at 7:00 a.m. in the morning and you approximately drive an hour to two hours to the island of Ponza, and then you take the ferry (you will be asked to pay for separately) to the location where you'll be taking the boat. There are also in general a dozen people that will be with you, so around 12. It's worth the trouble obviously but be advised that you need to bring a towel and general beach attire, as well as brace yourself for the hot sun bearing down on you relentlessly for hours on end.

Just to clarify a few details: all the information you mentioned is actually provided both on the booking website and in the email we send the evening before the tour.
That message is meant to remind guests of what's included and what's not, as well as what’s useful or necessary to bring along.
Regarding the meeting point in Rome, it’s actually scheduled between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m., and is stated in the website and also reminded in the "Before You Go" email.
The bus ride to the port totally doesn’t takes two hours, it takes from 45 minutes to max 1 hour, and you reach ANZIO, not Ponza. From there, the group the ferry to Ponza, the navigation takes about 90 minutes. It's also noted in both the booking and the email (as for the rest)that the ferry ticket is not included unless you select the “ferry included” option at the time of booking, which was created exactly not to pay extras at the meeting point.
for what to bring: items like a towel, water, and sunscreen are definitely essential for a day at sea. Even though they are obvious, we recommend and remind anyway them in the pre-departure email just to be sure no one forgets.
Last but not least, while the upper deck of the boat is indeed in full sun, the lower deck offers plenty of shade and is well-ventilated — so there’s always the option to stay cool and comfortable during the cruise.

Incredible experience!! Such beautiful views, relaxing day; crystal clear water and lovely tour guides. The only reason I took off a star is because all of us who went thought the ferry fee was included so I ended up paying 120€ extra for me and my friend that day.

It takes about 3 hours by bus then ferry to get to island. This is a must do! The water was so clear and blue. Perfect to snorkel. Pasta lunch is filling. Gelato boat pulled up along side for sweet treat option. Bring plenty of sunscreen!

Ponza is beautiful! Tour guide Mara was very nice and friendly. Captain was great and crew, food and drinks not so much. We were offered water once during lunch as well as wine and that was all. The pasta was ok. For the amount of money we spent each we had better expectations for the lunch. Also keep in mind you need to pay an extra 60 euros for the ferry. The ferry was definitely rough, recommend to sit near the back or middle to avoid getting sick. Everything ran on time but wish we had more time in the water.

This tour was so much fun! Ponza is a great island and so beautiful. The water is on the cold side but definitely worth the experience. If you get sea sick make sure to take something before you go because you eat lunch aboard the boat.

This was the perfect day trip from Rome. My mom and I had the best time. Our guide was so friendly and helpful. We went all around the island of Ponza stopping around five times to swim and explore around the caves. Lunch and wine was delicious too! Would book this again in a heartbeat.

Well the taxi strike caused a bit of hassle but the Ponza island Trip was wonderful. the staff/ crew was great and lunch was awesome . Upon return we were left without transportation back to our hotel . We were told we would have assistance in obtaining transport but that didn’t happen. We waited for an hour and a half and ended up walking back to the hotel .Not pleasant vc

Swimming in the caves and the beautiful sites. Would think for the money the windows on boat would be clean enough to look out of ( for 1 1/2 hour ride) that you would get more then some noodles and oil for lunch. And the wine was bad . Could have passed out more drinks.

Best Day trip in Rome! I would definitely recommend this Ponza day trip if you're looking for a day of relaxing, swimming and enjoying the amazing scenery. The bluest of waters especially in the caves. Our stops were all so beautiful and the water was clear and warm. My tour guide
Gianluca (Luca) was amazing all day. I traveled solo and he gave attention to everyone on trip.
He went above and beyond even at the end of the tour by going out of his way to walk us to a taxi location and made sure everyone was all set! Thank you again Gianluca and staff! A+++

We had a great experience and our tour guide Gianluca was amazing. He met with us before and after the trip individually to talk with us about the day and give recommendations for the rest of our trip. As for the day, swimming was great and the views were spectacular. Only note is that the day does last about 14 hours with only one meal provided. Bring water and snacks.

This was a great addition to our Rome trip. Luca was a great tour guide and the boat captian was fantastic too. The boat was clean and well maintained. Ponza Island is beautiful and closer than going to Capri or Amalfi if you are tight on time.

Ended up going on this trip with my sister and it was well worth it. The journey isn't as bad as some people have lamented. What I mean is that yeah it's an hour and half on bus and another two by ferry to get on our boat but the time flew. Also Valerio our guide was great and clear and super helpful. Just make sure to plan the entire day for the trip. The trip is well organized and everything ran on schedule.
At first I was scared to do this trip because I wasn't sure if I was fit enough with an injured knee (if you can climb a pool ladder, you are fit enough for this trip) and I am scared of open waters but this trip allowed my to see my irrational fears.
The views are amazing and the water was so refreshing during a heat wave that was happening in Rome. This trip was def. my favorite part of my trip to Italy this summer.
Last thing, make sure to bring your sunblock.
