Eden Island looks like a tailor-made tropical paradise—because it is. With lush greenery and protected inlets and bays, this small, man-made island in the Seychelles is a dream destination for luxury lovers. Conveniently connected by bridge to the main island of Mahé, Eden Island offers a long list of things to do, including snorkelling at Anse Bernitier beach, indulging in a day of pampering at the Eden Holistic Spa, or shopping for souvenirs at Eden Plaza.
Eden Island experiences the seasonal trade winds of the Indian Ocean, which die down between April–May and October–November. These months coincide with warmer weather and clearer visibility underwater, making this a great time to visit if you plan to dive or snorkel. In order to maximize time in the sun, avoid traveling from December through February, when the monsoon season arrives.
At only 0.2 square miles (0.5 square kilometers), Eden Island is small and walkable. From the capital of Victoria, you can access the island easily via the Eden Bridge, which takes you directly to the island’s shopping and dining area. If you’re in your own vehicle, parking is available at Eden Plaza. For those staying on the island, some accommodations will provide electric golf carts to get around.
Kick off your time in the tropics with a stop by Sey Si Bon—this unassuming juice bar in Eden Plaza serves up perfectly cooked coconut crepes and a wide selection of fresh fruit juice and smoothies. They even offer a ginger, mint, and lime hangover cure if you partied a little too hard the previous night. It’s a lovely spot for a light breakfast or to cool off with a drink.
