Bite into the history of French cheesemaking on this unique food tour in Paris. Make your way to a specialty cheese shop to meet your guide. Don a protective suit designed to preserve the delicate cheeses, and descend into a cool cellar filled with ripening blocks, rolls, and wheels—some as large as 77 pounds (35 kg).
Learn about the traditional art of cheesemaking and the importance of the maturing process as you admire the cellar’s supply. Taste several different varieties cut fresh from the block, such as Swiss Gruyère, bôfavre (a hard cheese from Switzerland's Jura Mountains), delicate Camembert, Etivaz (a hard cheese originating in the Alps), and Beaufort (a raw cow’s milk cheese).
Alternate bites of fragrant fromage with sips of fantastic French wines paired for complementary flavors. Also, nibble on fresh baguettes to complete your gourmet tasting experience. After your tasting tour, emerge back into the streets of Paris as a newly minted wine-and-cheese connoisseur.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. One of the best I’ve had in Paris. Dion was an excellent, kind, and engaging instructor and guide.. I learned more about wine and wine/cheese pairings then I thought I would and thoroughly enjoyed this experience. It’s a must do and I will be back!

Highly recommend! Knowledgeable and friendly guide told us a wealth of information; the cheese and wine were delicious and the cheese cellar is charming. 1 1/2 hours just flew by.

Nicolas was a fantastic and knowledgeable host. He knew about wine and cheese and answered all the questions we had.

There is just as much information about flavor combos, history and the staff is so friendly. We entered saying “I guess everyone has to have cheese and wine in Paris” and left feeling like we took a very loved college class. This is the best must try. If you are hesitant, do it! We had three different generations with us and we all loved it!

Wonderful experience to learn more about the very wide range of French cheeses. Wine pairing were on point, and generous. Guillaume is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his cheese!

Very informative, fun and tasty experience. Lola was our guide she is very knowledgeable, humorous, ensuring everyone is at ease and able to share their stories, taste. We understood a lot more about cheese and can know how to pair and enjoy them in the future. Thank you.

I found the cost vs value to be on the skimpy side. 7 small pieces of cheese, 2 glasses of about 2 oz wine and 1 cider and that was it. The guide was marvelous and energetic. We happened to be in the company of a 'class' travel group of 20 year olds that didn't help conversation or inquisitiveness of the products. Most of them didn't like the cheese or wine... what! So it dampened our experience. The purveyors of this offer should have suggested another day or perhaps did 2 groups. Being in the company of 'Foodies' is probably better.

This experience was well worth every penny! The location is authentic and charming. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and proficient in both French and English. We learned so much, had a great time, and enjoyed all the cheeses we tried!

This class was a highlight of our trip. The shop/museum/cheese cave was a lovely venue. The staff we extremely knowledgeable, and thorough. The class was the right size and fun! We ended up telling several people we met about the shop and encouraged friends to take the class. I left feeling like I need to be a cheese monger in my retirement! Super educational, fun and delicious!

Wonderful experience and education on cheese - the history, types by area, tasting suggestions with wine. Perfect mix of knowledge and open-ended participation. Highlight of our trip.

The cheese and wine pairing was one of my favorite things we did on our visit to Paris. Our hostess was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic! Definitely a “must do” if you visit Paris.

Gabriel was so knowledgeable and we truly enjoyed the wine and cheese pairing. It was the perfect activity to do that didn’t feel very touristy, as our group was only 9-10 people.

This was the MOST AMAZING experience! Agatha’s passion for cheese melts your heart. I learned so much about cheese, wine and Paris! I recommend this trip for anyone! Agatha is a true etoile!
DeAnna_K, Sep 2025
Host very knowledgeable about cheese - every single aspect of it! This was really great. I do think the description was not entirely the experience as significant amt of time was spent on walking through how cheese is made, esp history of cheese making in France. The wine/cheese pairing was only part of the experience and it was more on the cheese and not a real focus on the wines we were trying and why. I think the description should capture that half the time is walking around the museum and hearing the history of cheese making with little connection to the wine or art of pairing.
All that said- was great just needs an update on what the time is spent doing.

I learned so much about cheese and wine. I was the only person in the class so got personalized information.

This is something that changed my entire life about wine and cheese and if you’re traveling to Paris it is a MUST! Wonderful wonderful experience and I would recommend doing this on your first day in Paris as it changed my wine and cheese experience for the rest of the trip!

This was a fun experience. Tasting and learning about interesting cheeses was a treat. Thank you Gabriel!
Nancy_P, Jul 2025
Our history was passionate about cheese. I learned so much about the kinds of cheese. How they make it and of course how to eat it! There was plenty of wine flowing and I learned how to eat cheese with wine and what wine goes with what cheese. I highly recommend this fun activity while in Paris!
Patricia_H, Jun 2025
Wonderful, fun, informative. Gabriel was a great “instructor.” Great wine and cheese. Recommend highly!
Chinwe_M, Jun 2025
This experience was perfect from start to finish. It started in a ‘Cheese cooling room’ where we learned about the process of making cheese as well as little history - before proceeding downstairs to a cellar where we tasted different wines and paired them with cheeses.
Pierre was simply the most amazing and attentive host.
I’ll be back on my next trip to Paris!

The communication from the vendor was not good at all. We showed up at the original address which is also the address in the Viator app for the event.
We were informed that we had been sent an email that told us the address had changed. The email was sent on April 21 and we were traveling and I never received the email. So based on being at the wrong address, we were 45 minutes late getting to the correct address which held up the whole event for all the other people.
The wine and cheese pairing portion which we were able to participate in was fine, but we missed all the original parts of talking about cheese and wine introductory talks.
All in all, we were very disappointed in the whole event, but mainly due to the miscommunications or lack of communication to relay the change in location. There should always be some form of reply by the customer to ensure that they have received the notification of the change.
I did notice today when I went to put in this review that there is a message in the Viator app that tells us about the change change in venue, but I hadn’t used the violator app because I already had my ticket printed out. There should be some other way to make sure that gets pushed so that the customer sees those notifications. Especially because customers could be traveling they should use text messages as they are much more reliable and then require an acknowledgment from the customer

This was very interesting and our host was very passionate about her work! She shared lots of great info about cheese and kept the group engaged. Of course everything was amazing and the knowledge she shared is something we will remember and share as well. Highly recommend
