Beautiful, Adventurous and Refreshing Private Tour in Ocho Rios

We are a 70-something adventurous couple who wanted to see Jamaica's beauty and adventure during our cruise stop in Ocho Rios. We hit the jackpot with our private tour guide Winston Gayle who met us with his van a short walk from our ship. Well before this, Winston was excellent answering our questions about the tour, what to wear etc via WhatsApp text or email. As we drove to the first adventure venue, the Blue Hole / Island Gully Falls attraction, Winston entertained us with a Jamaican Patois v. English vocabulary lesson. Ya Mon, wi a go have fun today ! Dressed in swim suits and wearing water shoes, we met our waterfall guide, college-age Lindo, at the Blue Hole entrance. Here we donned life vests and trekked upriver for about 20 minutes carefully following Lindo's directions on where to step when in the pretty river. Then the fun meter pegged as we jumped into the different blue holes below the cascades and waterfalls as we worked our way back downstream. Sometimes it was a 5 foot jump from rocks and once a jump about 15 feet down from a purpose built platform. It was thrilling and refreshing. Lindo used our cell phone to take some great photos and videos of our adventure. We never once slipped on the rocks thanks to our water shoes and our phone stayed dry, thank goodness. The Blue Hole was a super fun time for us, and the other tour groups and their guides on the river were obviously all having fun too. Saying “Mi ah flash out, bless up” to the Blue Hole, we kept our swimsuits on and sat on our towels while Winston drove us to our next attraction, the Konoko Falls & Park on the mountain ridge overlooking Ocho Rios. Here we leisurely explored the attractive Konoko gardens, jungle trees, plants and flowers, the small museum of Jamaican history, a zoo with colorful parrots and budgies, tortoises, snakes and a free-ranging iguana content to hang out at the edge of our footpath. There's a food and drink pavilion if you're hungry, and beyond it a modest amount of water cascading down rocks that some people were climbing up in their swimsuits. This water feature was minor league compared to Blue Hole so we passed on getting wet again. Beyond that is an observation platform where you get a very nice bird's eye view of Ohco Rios, its beaches and resorts far below. Our time at Konoko Falls & Park was a beautiful and relaxing experience, and a perfect change of pace after the thrills of the Blue Hole. Our entire tour took four hours which was just right. Winston offered to stop at a shopping area but we passed on that. Keep in mind that although the Viator cost for this private tour adventure is modest, there is a $20 per person entrance fee you pay at both the Blue Hole and Konoko Falls & Park. Plus you'll want to budget for gratuities for your guides. So our total expenditure for two people was over $200 and we considered it money very well spent. Winston dropped us off close to our cruise terminal and there were lots of flowers along the sidewalk as we returned to our ship. Shoot, score, this was a wonderful experience for us in Ocho Rios.

Fantastic Private Tour

Winston and “Tour Jamaica today” provided my wife and I with a fantastic tour of Ocho Rios. From the moment I booked a tour with Winston he was in constant communication and provided me with clear and detailed instructions on meeting our driver. He also noticed that I had made a mistake in my booking date due to a change in the ship itinerary and revised our tour accordingly. Had he not done so we would’ve found ourselves with no event booked on arrival. Our driver for the day was a gentleman called Henry, who is fantastic company and gave us a great history and description of the areas we drove around. Our primary interest was seeing the Blue Hole and the Konoko Falls. Henry made sure we got the both locations ahead of the crowds, and personally arranged that we had two fantastic guides for the tour of each location. I cannot recommend Winston highly enough, you are in safe hands with him, and he will provide you with a wonderful private tour.

Blue Hole was definitely the highlight of our trip!

The Blue Hole portion was absolutely incredible. So glad we had the driver to take us up there even though we'd rented a car. The road was pretty crazy. When we got there we were led by Tino and Kemaro - both such great guides. We climbed up along different portions of the river to falls and jumped from about four different spots - I'm terrified of heights but I was able to do all four of them so they definitely were fun and challenging but not ridiculous. They also knew of the best photo opportunities, and we didn't ever feel rushed. We climbed the falls and watched Tino do amazing double jumps along the way. All of the pictures were taken on my phone and Kemaro did an amazing job with slow mo and video and regular pictures on my phone. He knew how to use the camera better than I do! They didn't charge for the photos too which was really nice. Of course they work for tips so tip well!!! The Konoko Falls portion was less fantastic. The botanical garden tour was not super exciting (our tour guide did his best!). When we were going to climb the falls, we ended up waiting for a long time for other groups to change and get ready. Then climbing the Falls was all done single file. That part was pretty fun and our guide along the way was very nice but overall I think we would have skipped Konoko with the limited time that we had on our trip. The van was comfortable and the driver was nice enough although it didn't really feel like we were getting a full tour, more just a driver which was fine.

Falls and Shopping Tour

The experience was excellent for many reasons. First, our driver and guide (totally sorry I forgot his name) was kind and above all patient with us. We had the entire van to ourselves for transportation purposes. The van was very clean with AC the entire time we were on the road. He looks us to both Blue Hole and Konoko falls. Never one did we feel rushed or out of time for either location. Finally on our way back to our resort. He even took us to do a bit of shopping. There was. no time limit. He said, "Just let me know when you are ready." It was an amazing experience. My wife and I give this tour a 5 Star excellent customer service.

best tour ever! winston picked us up five mins early and was so accommodating. had waters ready to go, gave us an informative tour of the island and the Best part was it actually ended up turning into a custom tour! He was willing and excited to bring us anywhere we wanted to go and made sure he brought us to the bus tour guide when we arrived. He was great about taking pictures and we had a blast! We did the blue Hole, downtown shopping and the bamboo rafts. Can’t recommend this store enough he’s amazing. also ended up having him give us a private ride to the airport when we left for a great price

Winston was an absolute delight. Unfortunately, the experience itself was a waste of his and my time because the Blue Hole had a film crew working there and I couldn't see the falls, and Konoko Falls was closed too. It was a big disappointment for both Winston and me but we finished having a real nice lunch at Scotchie's. I was totally bummed out! My advice is: before you book a tour, make sure the attraction is open. This happened once before on my trip to New Orleans to the Cemetery Tour.

For the Konoko Fall's wasn't open it's because of the covid situation and Viator couldn't know it would be close but this pandemic make changes all over the world. Amazing private trip to blue hole and Konoko falls! Winston our private driver was great! Very punctual and ready with bottles of water when we needed them. He was very patient and let us hang out at both locations as long as we wanted and when we were ready to go he magically appeared ready to whisk us to our next location. He wore his mask the entire time and had the van super clean for us as well! Make sure you bring enough money for the entrance fees and to trip the guides at each park. We almost had the entire place to ourselves at both locations so amazing at such a tourist spot. Traveling during covid has its perks!! Thanks Winston! Much love!

Fabulous trip to Blue Hole & Konoko Falls

My husband and I booked a private tour to Blue Hole and Konoko Falls with Winston GayLe and Tour Jamaica Today during our recent NCL Cruise. Winston left us detailed instructions and was waiting for us when we got off the ship. We were on our way to Blue Hole ahead of the crowds. He kept us entertained with stories & history of the island. Blue Hole was beautiful, exciting & fun. The guides there take care of you, hold your phone & take pictures for you. Next stop was Konoko Falls which was also a great time. We wanted to eat some traditional food so Winston took us to one of his favorite places. He would have taken us shopping, but we wanted to go back to the ship instead and we’re dropped off right at port. We loved the tour and felt safe the entire time. If you want to see Jamaica-I recommend Winston as your guide

Moi et mon chum nous avons adoré cette excursion de la chute blue hole pour commencer notre chauffeur de taxi que j'ai malheurement oublié son nom était très gentil et souriant il nous expliquait tout en chemin et nous parlait de la jamaique nous l'avons adoré , puis une fois rendu au chute notre moniteur était tony nous l'avons moins aimé il nous a seulement demandé pendant le 45 minutes de la visite et des sauts pour les chutes si nous savions bien nager il nous a pas saluer ne c'est pas présenter et nous a pas demander nos nom.. une fois rendue a la chute il voulait probablement se dépecher et pourtant nous étions 2 dans le groupe un groupe privé .. les autres étaient 6-7 et le gars qui était avec eux avait l'air très bien .. je voulais me mouiller avant de faire les chutes il ne voulait pas il fallait que je saute immédiatement.. puis a la fin de l'activité il nous a simplement dit: n'oublier pas de penser a tony et de lui laisser du pourboire et mon chum a dit c'est tu toi tony il a dit oui puis une fois rendu au taxi il nous attendait de tres proche pour qu'il ait du tip nous avons donner 5$ et il nous a répondu : IS NOT GOOD puis pas de merci de sourire rien .. très ordinaire de sa part pour la dernière activitée nous sommes aller au konoko falls c'etait bien mais sans plus visite d'un jardin avec oiseaux moins notre style puis une grosse chute qui etait bien nous pouvions l'escalader .. A choisir j'aurais préférer comme deuxieme activité les chutes dunns mais les heures ne convenaits pas avec l'heure de partir de notre bateau de croisière .. peut-être un jour .. Bref je recommande les chutes blue hole elle vaut la peine mais avec un autre guide bien sur :)

I'm so happy to know that your driver does what is expected to give you all the information that you can get the understand as you go along. Unfortunately I'm disappointed with your guide at the Blue Hole, normally your guide should great you with a smile and that smile must be there for the entire day. First he must great you with a bright smile and identify himself to you,then asked your names and yes find out if you can swim and make sure that you both enjoyed the day and want to do it all over again. Now we normally say to our guests your tour guide cannot charge you he doesn't work with you he's employed to the Blue Hole, but if he does a good job if you can afford it you can tip him and whatever you give him he should accept it. An so ill make sure i have a talk with him about that. I'm so sorry about that experience with the guide, but thanks again and i look forward for you to come and and see more of Jamaica.
