Our driver Courtney picked us up on time from the hotel, took us to a lovely view of Ocho Rios on the way to the lagoon, and was very friendly and courteous. The lagoon experience was like nothing else we’ve encountered before. We were worried whether we would see much luminosity in the water as it was nearly a full moon, but it did not fail, it was very bright, like blue led light in the water. The boatmen, sorry cannot remember their names, were also very helpful, took some pictures of us on their phones and air-dropped them onto our phones for free. We stayed in the water maybe for 15-20 minutes, which was plenty. The water was very warm.

Very disorganised from the outset. It was a free for all, people ignored the numbering system. The simplest way would be to call the numbers relating to the number of people the boat will fit. , instead of calling 120 to 235. Overall not worth the money

The numbers called, such as "120 to 235," correspond to the groups designated for a particular departure, ensuring everyone on that tour boards efficiently.
We've found that when guests follow these instructions, the boarding process runs smoothly and when they don't they will find a problem with the system or they may simply misunderstand the system, which can unfortunately lead to a perception of disorganization.
We would have loved to hear about your tour experience once you were out on the water. We pride ourselves on providing memorable tours, and we're disappointed that your overall impression was negative due to the boarding.

Pick up and drop off was excellent! Our driver was an absolute gentleman who shared lots of local knowledge along the way. The tour was a little rushed BUT the experience swimming in the bioluminescent waters was unbelievable! Would definitely recommend going and booking through Viator for this excursion as it was fair, organized, and very professional!

It was interesting to see the luminescence, but we were experiencing a full moon so it wasn’t that dark. Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time at the bar before the fire show and then boat tour took place. The kids were getting a bit bored waiting..

Desmond Transportation Services provided pick up and drop off to the tour site. Desmond was excellent, timely and knowledgeable. He gave a lots of facts about the Jamaica and different sites along the way. The boat was entertaining, one of my favorite tours in Jamaica so far. The guide was hilarious and made the experience one to remember.

This activity was amazing! Our transfer from Ocho Rios to the location was great, our driver was so nice and offered up so much history about the areas we were traveling to. Once we arrived, there was a wait about 1 hour and a half as we waited for the sun to go down. The dock is also a restaurant w/ bar that features a DJ so we had a time while we waited. Once aboard our captains were great and hilarious while also keeping our safety a priority. No, you won’t be able to use a camera to catch the glow but the lifelong memories that were made have no comparison. It was BEAUTIFUL! It lit up so good, just an amazing experience. 10/10 would do again

Our driver, Desmond was very friendly and knowledgable. The crew was funny. We got great pictures. Bring bug spray for waiting to go out on the water. There are only five places in the world where this natural phenomena occurs and Jamaica is the only place you can go in the water (or so we were told)

This was a complete waste of money and time. Very disappointing! The glow was barely visible and only takes place when you splash the water and it disappears almost immediately! Nothing like the advertising pictures show.
The captain was trying to convince everyone that the glow was there and telling them to keeping swimming around the boat to see the glow, but there was nothing at all like the advertised photos. He then made all the excuses under the sun as to why it wasn't like the advertised photos.
They crammed 50 people on the tiny little boat, so it's not a very comfortable journey either. They then had the cheek to ask for money at the end and leave a bucket by the exit for you to tip them.
The only saving grace was the beautiful sunset, as more than. Have the tome is spent waiting for it to get dark. The stars were also, shinning very bright in the night sky while we were out on the boat. The photos do not do it justice.
When we returned to the little bar/restaurant, where the transfer drop you off at, there was an amazing fire show taking place and our lovely driver Desmond allowed us the extra time to watch the show, before dropping us back to our hotel.

We understand your frustration about the bioluminescence not being as vibrant as the pictures might portray. It's important to note that the Luminous Lagoon's natural glow can vary depending on the moon phase, cloud cover, and water conditions. To ensure the best chance of witnessing a spectacular display, we highly recommend booking the tour during the Darkest Night of your vacation in Jamaica as highlighted in the tour description and booking recommendations.
We apologize if the captain's explanations about the natural phenomenon didn't fully address your concerns. We'll work with our crew to ensure they effectively communicate the factors affecting the bioluminescence's intensity.
Regarding the number of people on the boat, each boat has a Capacity number of Persons allowed on each based on seating and at no time the number exceeds the required amount.
As for tipping, it is always optional and a way to show appreciation for the crew's service, but certainly not mandatory.

I am rating this 5 stars because the driver, servers, and boat captains were all fantastic. Also, the food at the drop off was fantastic.
That said, the actual experience was a let down. We went on an overcast day, so the microbes did not get as charged. It also wasn't an ideal moon phase (new moon is best). Lastly, the swimming off the boat is above some really icky mud/plants so you can't really stand. We did our tour end of January.

The trip from our hotel was smooth and our driver Desmond made sure we arrived safely. He told us about the history of the towns we went through and was attentive to every detail…checking in if we were hot/cold comfortable during the 45 min trip to luminous lagoon. The lagoon was very neat, but if you are planning this take a waterproof cover for your phone so u can get some pictures!

This is a must do for anyone visiting Jamaica. It’s such a unique experience and no photos do it justice. We ended up sharing a tour with a family which only added to the experience. The boat crew who bring you out are super fun and add to the experience giving you information about the lagoon and surrounding area and also helped take photos of us in the water and knew some tricks. Our driver Desmond was also great and gave us lots of information about things to do and tips on plans we had made.

We enjoyed going to the lagoon but it is a bit short for an excursion. The bottom of the lagoon is super slimy. It is fun to see the water lighting up but it is not as bright as we see on the picture. Speaking of which they charge you 25usd for 4 pictures that you get by email... a bit expensive

Travelled to the site from Ocho Rios (just over an hour) and Courtney our driver was excellent. He was a safe driver,courteous,informative and very pleasant.
A bit chaotic on arrival at the venue e.g. We were asked to pay again on two separate occasions when the tour price was prepaid.
The lagoon itself is larger than we anticipated but the boat trip out only takes a few minutes.
The luminescent display by the micro organisms is amazing. Once the water is agitated they light up for a few seconds it is just like being in an alien world. I swam around the boat and it was fantastic. The lagoon is quite shallow (only 4ft deep where we were but the bottom I can only describe as "gloopy" and you definitely don't want to putt our feet down into it. One or two swimmers did get minor
Jellyfish stings but they were insignificant and wouldn't put me off.
On the downside the Captain of our particular boat was officious and overbearing. Amongst lots of other things we were told not to use a flash and without that only darkness is visible. I can only think that this is to encourage the purchase of the on board photographers images.
All in all though a memorable experience that is pretty unique worldwide.
