This experience was just as fun as it was interesting…delicious, too! Our host/teacher was very smart and made chocolate come alive. Plus we got to make chocolate that was so tasty. Highly recommended for anyone interested in cacoa/chocolate.

Fantastic with kids!

This class was absolutely one of the highlights of my stay in Oaxaca. The staff could not have been nicer to this grandma, three little girls and a baby! They made faces for the baby (who loved it), held her so I could join in the class, and totally entertained the older girls. They even helped me improve my espanol muy malo. It was a perfect afternoon!

We really enjoyed the class. Very educational, and you get to make your own chocolate drink at the end. I would say we spent about 3 hours: about 1 hr of ‘class’, 1 hr tasting, 1 hr making the chocolate drink.

Lupita and the whole team made this experience one we won’t forget. From the very beginning we learned about the different cacao beans then actually got to make our own chocolate. This was such a fun way to understand the cultural and social importance of cacao! The setting added to its charm and almost felt like we went back in time as we roasted, ground and created our own chocolate!

Chocolate Making in Oaxaca

Super fun and informative workshop. We learned a lot about cacao’s history and production. We sampled different beans with different styles of production, washed vs fermented, sampled different ground powders, and then roasted and ground our own cacao, which we made into hot chocolate. We got to keep the remainder of our ground chocolate as a delicious souvenir. We would highly recommend this workshop and would do it again. We did it with our two kids, 12 and 8, and they enjoyed it immensely. The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.

Fuimos mi hija de 4 años y yo, lo pasamos súper lindo. Diego y Ruth muy atentos y pacientes, explican todo con lujo de detalle, el tiempo se nos pasó rapidísimo. Mi niña no deja de presumir que hizo su propio chocolate. Lo recomiendo al 100.
