We had three people fishing and caught one large 62 pound yellow fin tuna. They guys were very informative on safety procedures and fishing techniques. They filleted the fish and gave us bags and ice to transport the fish. We even saw pilot whales and dolphins!! The boat was very nice. The men were very nice and helpful!

Anyone thinking about just going sportfishing on Aloha Charters, know that it means you are just going on a boat ride and they do the fishing and if they catch nothing, ZERO, which is what happened, then you just paid a $1400 for a boat ride and get a comment from the captain, “well that is fishing”.

My family and I had a fantastic, private, half-day, fishing experience aboard Captain Max's catamaran! All of the amenities described in trip's description were provided, safety procedures reviewed, and a thorough explanation by mate Casey of the fishing technique was given. The only thing left up to us was to catch a fish. We did!! A Mahi-Mahi that Capt. Max filleted for us upon return to shore. We took a dinner sized portion of it to our hotel chef who cooked a wonderful appetizer and main course for us. This was truly an unforgettable experience!! P.S. Leave all bananas on the dock!

Not a lot of effort put...

Not a lot of effort put in by the fishing charter crew. There were 5 of us and we spent the whole time cruising and watching the big TV screen. The poles were baited one time. We ALL felt there was no effort in trying to locate the fish and it was definitely more of a boat ride. The crew and captain stayed up on the deck most of the time. Very disappointed with experience.

Aloha Paul, when hunting elusive pelagic fish like Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Ahi Tuna, Mahi Mahi and more it is never a guarantee that we will catch them and some days unfortunately they are no where to be found. This is just the reality that anglers have to accept when sport fishing for pelagic trophy fish. However more often than not we do catch fish. The captain and crew set a spread of lures that had been biting very well that week and may not change them out until they have made a pass or two on an active pile of fish, birds or rubbish. They spent the majority of the time on the bridge due to actively hunting for birds, rubbish or any other signs of fish while trolling. Captain and crew are always scanning the horizon and using binoculars to try and sight piles from far away. We are very sorry you felt your experience was not top tier and we always value any feedback from our clients. We hope that you will choose to fish with us again in the future and give us another chance to bring you home a trophy.

Not likely to catch fish

The crew tried hard but the trip is a little misleading. They told us only one in five trips catch fish. It was an expensive trip that ended with no fish and disappointed kids. While they can’t control that, if knew the odds were one in five, we would not have spent money on this. Also, my son left his sunglasses on the boat, we messaged them right after and they never bothered to respond which was disappointing.

Aloha Joseph. We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your trip with us. We spoke with the captain and he clarified what he was telling you is that we may NOT catch fish 1 out of 5 trips but we never really know because it is fishing! We apologize for the misunderstanding. We did have the crew triple check the boat and unfortunately we did not find any sunglasses left aboard. We are also working on adding an option for kids to try to catch small reef fish at the end of the trip should we strike out on the pelagic sport fish. We hope that you choose to join us again in the future and that this experience won't be your last!

Striped Marlin on board!

Our trip was great. We had Captain Clint and deckhand Bob. They were both very friendly and Bob was great with our children, 11 and 15. He helped them catch small tuna while we were trolling for the bigger fish. My father got to catch a Striped Blue Marlin. 85lb, 94 inches. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Hawaii for him. It was a great experience and we really enjoyed the day and the hospitality of the crew. Would highly recommend Aloha Charters. Ask for Clint and Bob, we definitely will when we visit Hawaii again!
