Overview

Hop aboard a stand-up paddleboard and make your way along the historic Anahulu stream in Haleiwa in the company of a private guide. Beginners are welcome for this activity; your dedicated guide will ensure that everyone in your private party is safe and comfortable in learning how to paddleboard. Keep an eye out for the enormous Hawaiian green sea turtles, who make their home in these waters.

Look for the Rainbow Watersports VAN in the middle of the bay outside Haleiwa town (see photos). It is located in between Haleiwa beach park (62-449 Kamehameha Hwy) and BeachHouse restaurant (62-540 Kamehameha Hwy). It is a blue van with a big rainbow on it. We'll meet you there!

Heidi and Ocean were great instructors/guides. They were very friendly and professional. We had a party of 9 (all first-timers, mostly introverted teens, an 8 year old, and an individual who was on crutches). Heidi was so thoughtful and took my 8 year on her board because she was too afraid to try paddle boarding on her own. They were happy to assist my husband into the water with his crutches and all. They were so very patient with us and made us all feel very comfortable. We got out to the water like pros in no time. My 8 year old totally enjoyed talking to Heidi for the 2 hour trip. Thanks Heidi!! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Heidi and Ocean and would recommend Rainbow Watersports for any group looking to have a thrilling but relaxing time in Oahu.

Megan was AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable about the area and patient. Super fun experience. We even got to see some turtles while paddleboarding!

Fun, exciting, peaceful when finally in the river

With a group of nine people Heidi, Eden, and kat did a great job teaching us now to properly paddle, stand, move etc. Even when some of us struggled they were patient with us and helped us gained confidence and keep going. Some of us for may have fallen, but it was all apart of the experience. Would definitely go again.

My parents had little to no swimming skills and Kate was very accommodating and made sure my parents felt comfortable. The view on the river was gorgeous and with the river’s calm waters, it was the best place to get well acquainted with the board. Kate was very kind, a good teacher, and if that’s your instructor, you have nothing to worry about. We also saw a turtle on the way back that waved at my brother and peeled its head out of the water to say hi. Definitely worth the money and I bet my parents will be talking about the experience for awhile.

A must do for your trip

As a first time paddler in my sixties I was a bit apprehensive, but no need to be. The lesson was clear and on point The tips made it easy to feel at ease on the board and the trip up the river was great. Will do again!
