Normandy Landing Beaches & American Cemetery

We had a full day with our guide, Gaetan, and were able to see and learn so much information about Normandy and the events that had occurred in preparation for D Day, on the day, and of course following the initial landing. We were able to view the various sights, so many memorials and take extra time where we chose. We were picked up at the cruise terminal in La Havre on time and in a very nice vehicle for the trip to Normandy. Gaetan found us a good spot for lunch and went out of his way to make this a great experience. Thank you so much and would highly recommend.

Matthew was a great guide. This was the best tour and we learned so much history. I highly recommend this tour. Ages in our group ranged from 22 to 76 and all of us had an amazing experience. This tour is a must...ask for Matthew he is amazing and very knowledgeable.

Very interesting tour and excellent tour guide. Sound system in car was difficult to hear causing some issues. The trip was booked for 8 but 2 were sick and did not attend. This was good because the van would have been too crowded with 8 adults.

Normandy visit

We were rushed through the day and did not have time to tour any museums. Our guide was concerned about being done by 5:30. He had us back to the ship at 4:30, even though we had until 7:30 to board our ship. This was our last port and the cost of this private tour was double what we paid at any other port for a private taxi tour. I expected more considering the expense.

Dear Diana, Thanks for taking the time writing to us. I would like to clarify few things. first of all you paid for a private tour departing from Le Havre and lasting 8 to 9h long. This means that you have 3 hours return drive to go to the Us beaches and the program we have given you once you booked this tour was : Omaha Beach Pointe du Hoc US Cemetery No museum was planned, for the good reason that there is not enough time from Le Havre. Secondly, the guide managed to add one more stop for you in Arromanches on the top of the program above. Thirdly, the guide handled you an appreciation form and by reading it, you mentioned being really satisfied with him and therefore the tour. I am sorry if you expected more from this tour. IF you want a longer and deeper tour, I would recommend you book a tour with a departure closer to the beaches like Bayeux for example, you will then be able to spend 8 hours on sites with much less driving. thanks for your understanding, Kind regards Morgane

We’re glad we took a guided tour to visit Normandy. Without Rose our tour guide we would have been clueless what to do and which important and historical sites to visit. She was well informed and able to relate some of the history of Normandy. We were pick up from Le Havre Cruise port promptly. We loved visiting the cemetery. It is here where I felt true appreciation of the sacrifices of the heroes laid to rest here. They have given us the freedom we enjoy today. The tour is a bit costly but worth it. I recommend this tour.

...This was a full day trip, and was to be the highlight excursion of the cruise. While researching this excurision, I had questions about where the vehicle driver would meet our tour group. A call to Viator resolved the issue, and we were met by the driver at the port instead of having to go into town. The driver was prompt and arrived at the agreed time. He introduced himself, and gave us an overview of the day's tour. He told us that the drive time to Omaha Beach would be around 1 1/2 hours, the time we would spend at the beach, the other places we would visit and where we would be stopping for lunch. The driver lived in a village near Omaha Beach, and was very knowledgeable of the area and the history of the sites we visited. We had lunch and had time to shop for souvenirs in the village of Sainte-Mere-Eglise before ending our tour at the American Cemetery. The weather was perfect, sunny, and warm for the outdoor tour. The price of the tour was about one-half of what the ship tour for the same itinerary cost. We were delivered back to the ship at the time agreed, in plenty of time to board before sailing.

A perfect day. Our guide, Celine, arrived on time, was extremely knowledgeable, professional and delightful. We thought we were pretty well informed about D-Day. While Celine was explaining her maps and photo album all along the way, we realized that there is a lot more to learn. Being at the D-Day site and the cemetery brought forth much emotion and pride in the sacrifices that these young adults made that changed the world This day was the highlight of our trip!

Phillip picked us up at the cruise terminal right on time. He was very knowledgeable and we all learned a lot. My only complaint is he left us on several occasions to to go have a smoke and I just wish he would've stayed with us as we wandered around to answer any of our questions. This tour was pricey for the 7 of us and it bothered us that he left us a few times. At lunch time he took us to his friend's cafe and didn't really give us a choice of where we wanted to eat. I also asked him to take us to a certain intact gun turret and he dismissed it out of hand. I then showed him a photo of what I wanted a photo in front of and he finally agreed to take us to the beach where they were.

Philip was a marvelous and knowledgable guide. He gave us background details for the American Day beaches we never learned in our history classes. He was courteous, on time, a great driver and in addition to seeing the sights, we had a really good lunch in a local restaurant. We can't say enough good comments about Philip. highly recommended.
