I booked the Holiday Statue & Skyline Cocoa Cruise as a surprise for my family of five during our overnight stay in NYC, and unfortunately, this was the only negative experience we had on our entire trip. We gave ourselves more than enough time to get to the departure point, but when the E subway line was unexpectedly down, everything changed. As visitors unfamiliar with the city, we scrambled to find a safe alternative route with our kids, but even with our early planning, the transit disruption made it impossible.
I attempted to contact the tour operator an hour before departure for guidance, reassurance, or any kind of support, only to find that no contact number or live assistance existed. There was no way to get ahold of anyone. We were completely on our own in a situation we couldn’t navigate.
This lack of communication was especially disappointing because every other Viator tour we’ve taken, including one just the day before, had wonderful, responsive communication. This tour was the exact opposite. We had zero contact, no confirmation, and no way to ask questions.
Because we couldn’t reach anyone and had no guidance, we missed the cruise. When we finally reached the pier 3 minutes after the scheduled departure time, the company refused to refund the $350 we paid and offered to reschedule us later in the day only if we paid an additional $170, which simply wasn’t reasonable or possible.
I understand that we didn't make it in time and the boat could not be delayed just for us, but I truly believe part of the responsibility falls on the operator. Had any sort of contact number or real-time support been available, this entire situation may have been avoided. Instead, we were left stressed, stranded, and without help on what was supposed to be a special experience for my kids.
This was deeply disappointing, and I hope the company seriously improves their communication and accessibility so that no other family has to go through something like this.

However, we are quite surprised to read your comments about not being able to contact us since this was not mentioned when you arrived. I looked up your Viator confirmation, and it includes our correct written phone number with a note to call it if running late, and it also includes a direct link to our phone number as well as a link to message us through Viator. Your Viator message history with us is blank, and our team did not find any call records from your listed phone number. Our contact information is also readily available on our website, in addition to your booking confirmation. As far as the additional cost for the later cruise, which was the only available option on a popular day, that cruise was a more expensive option because it included live holiday music and entertainment, so we simply asked you to pay the difference, which you declined. If you would like to clarify what you mean when you say you could not contact us, please do so at feedback@sail-nyc.com as we of course would want to fix any communication issues on our end, though we are not sure what you could mean since there should have been several avenues available to reach us. My husband's first trip to NYC. The staff was friendly and snacks and drinks offered were excellent. One staff member named Kera was kind enough to snap photos of us as we passed the Statue of Liberty and around the Xmas tree. We also loved the information & history they provided as we boated around the city of NYC. I would def recommend this experience over a ferry ride if possible!!!

Perfect way to see the NY skyline and Statue of Liberty up close in comfort and warmth! Staff super nice and helpful. We had a great time! Enjoyed the drinks, cookies and extra snacks, which were very reasonable.

This boat ride was awesome! We went during Thanksgiving weekend and it was so intimate and convenient. This was the perfect way to see the Statue of Liberty and the city -It's not crowded, you have your own seating/ section, you can stay inside or hang out outside the boat, and you can drink! My husband has done other crowded touristic boats and he said this one was the best. Highly recommend, just dress warm! We even had a quick drink and salad right outside our meeting area which was convenient before we got on. Pluuuus, they give you your first drink free so all in all great price for such an intimate comfortable setting.
