We preferred to book the guided tour so as not to explore the archaeological site on our own, since many times, if you don't have context, you don't really know what you are seeing or the history behind each place. It was definitely an excellent decision. The guide we were assigned was wonderful, very prepared and attentive, and also the group was small, which made the experience much more pleasant and personalized. We were able to get to know Uxmal in depth, better understand its history, its architecture, and many details that we probably would have overlooked visiting it alone. A totally recommended experience. Without a doubt, touring Uxmal with a good guide makes a big difference.
