Itinerary
A comfortable, air-conditioned coach will collect you at your Mendoza hotel and head out for the Pan-American Highway. As you cruise towards the Chilean border, learn about the region's cultural and natural features through your expert guide's insightful commentary. The urban architecture of Mendoza will give way to rolling wine country grape vines and eventually mountain peaks as you travel.
Potrerillos will be your first stop, where you can get some fresh air, purchase a snack, and admire the lake, the Embalse de Potrerillos. Your next stop is Uspallata, a charming mountain town with abundant alpine views and an opportunity to purchase lunch. Back on the bus, you'll reach Puente del Inca about 60 minutes later. This natural rock bridge over the Vacas River was once visited by Charles Darwin, and its swirls of colored rock make for great photos. There's a small community living nearby that has handmade native goods for sale.
Continue heading west towards Chile's border and Aconcagua. Argentina is the location of the largest mountain in the Americas, clocking in at 22,840 feet (6,960 meters.) The coach will stop at a scenic overlook for wonderful views and photo opportunities as the guide fills you in on information about the mountain itself.
Pichueta, a site of indigenous Huarpe ruins dating from the 5th century, is your last stop. After that the coach will head back down the Pan-American highway the way it came, delivering you back to your Mendoza hotel around 7 pm.

Great experience and very well paced. An opportunity to see the Andes in their grandeur. Our guide, Romina, made the trip interesting and fun.

Overall it is a nice excursion. Expect to spend lot of time in the bus. Our tour guide Paula was the best so Carlito the driver.
Our coach was noisy and a bit dated.

A good day in terms of seeing spectacular scenery…. And ease of organisation from our hotel and drop off. We really appreciated. We thought we’d booked an English translation but this was delivered as a phone message to read and very limited. The scenery was breathtaking and so good value in this respect - but the lunch stop off was very poor food ( although cheap). We missed all of the conversation and tour guide information as the day was purely Spanish …. And not made clear at the point of booking

I would not recommend this tour. It’s ultimately a bus ticket right before the Chilean border (as advertised), but much, much worse. First, the bus was old and very cramped. It’s not a comfortable ride as advertised. I was a solo traveler and the only spot available for me was up front next to the tour guide. I was told that pickup would be at 7:30 and could take an additional 30 minutes. In fact, the tour guide did not arrive until 8:30 and no one bothered to let me know. Also, the spot they stop for lunch…terrible. The restaurant was not clean at all. Bland undercooked chicken and a few sides for 2300 pesos. Also, I reached out asking how much lunch would be via WhatsApp and was told 2000 pesos. Good thing I had plenty of cash. All in all, there have to be better tours to select because with this one, you definitely get what you pay for.

The excursion was delayed for FOUR hours, starting from an hour delay to pick us up. No communication whatsoever to let us know they were running late on a scheduled of 7h30 in a cold morning. Completely disorganised all way through. We also had to wait about an hour in high altitude in the windy cold weather to have some lunch. Nonetheless, the sightseeing was stunning and the guide was very friendly and knowledgable about the sites.

Most of this trip is bus ride. Stops are short and if your guide is not willing to talk, then this trip is not good option. Our guide, on english tour, spoke 90 % of the time Spanish. In the group we had large Hispanic family from USA (they speak English and Spanish). After long talk in Spanish, she would give us just one sentence in English. Even that sentence was so simple, almost insulting (on your right is yellow rock and train station)...

I think it should be more clear in the description of this tour that this is a 12h bus ride only, you get out 3 times to take 3 bad photos, and have lunch. There are no activities included, it is literally just a bus ticket. I unfortunately did not understand the guide whatsoever as their English was very poor.
I know the tour is cheap and you probably get what you pay for, but along the way there are so many more opportunities for interesting stops and maybe put a walk in there somewhere. Badly organized as well, pickup in the morning took 1h and 30 min and we were waiting for the bus driver all the time as it was not clear what time we need to be by the bus when we had a stop for photos or other. By the end of the day you are just exhausted from sitting.

We really enjoyed our trip. Guide was very nice, well prepared and shared all of the information with great passion. Pick up and drop off option worked perfectly. Condition of the bus was very good and driver drove well and safely which was important due to specifics of some of the roads in the mountians. Worth recommending trip.

Comfortable mini bus. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly! Know that you’ll experience cold temperatures throughout parts of the trip. Bring a jacket!!

We had a wonderful tour, amazing and overwhelming nature. The guide did a good job to keep both spanish and english speaking uptodate. The tour is a bit exhausting due to the long bus ride, but we would not miss any of the stops. Well planned.

The content of the tour was good - seeing the Andes is extraordinary but the guide was very poor. She didn’t speak English and as that was a tour requirement it was a huge let down. There were 3 of us and we were separated which was not ideal. The lunch which was not included in the tour price but was the only option available was inedible and for what it was, was very expensive.

The trip is quite long, but well worth it. It includes many interesting and breath-taking stops along the way. Lorena, our guide, was very knowledgeable and provided the commentary in both Spanish and English. Remember to bring water and sun screen :)

The tour van picked us up very promptly from the Airbnb where we were staying. Beautiful trip, plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and very knowledgeable guide.

This is a very good value option. You get to see a few very cool areas via a comfortable bus. The tour guide (Hugo) was outstanding. Not only did he take the time to repeat each of his comments in English (there were only 2 English speakers on trip), his comments provided some valuable insight about the landscapes and particular sites we saw and visited. Hugo even included information and pictures regarding local wildlife. Very nice touch.

The tour was wonderful. Beautiful scenery. The only complaint was that the guide was not very friendly. We were given an address to meet up with the bus. When arrived, no one really had any information on the tour and were told it would be about an hour before they arrived. We took a bathroom break when the bus arrived and the guide was upset we were not waiting. We took off 4 minutes late! We started off on a bad note and didn't seem to recover through the whole tour. She did not make us feel welcomed!

Once again a great tour in the Andes, this time up to the snow. Amazing scenery, our guide was good although hard to hear sometimes on the bus. Be aware you go all the way to nearly the Chilean border, have lunch, then back down the same road, so the return trip is pretty much the same except from the other side of the bus. Fascinating all the same, and the colours of the Andes just blew me away.

Very long day with a lot of time spent on the bus, but worth it. We got wonderful photos of the Andes.

Wow what a value! A whole day trip up into the Andes climaxing at Christ of the Andes. Beautiful views and vistas everywhere. Our guide was well informed and friendly. The driver, quite expert. The high altitudes can make travelers a little sleepy but all in all a relaxing and stress free way to visit the top of the world.

Amazing trip, great experience. Guide Lucas was super and I am very glad to have Jose Luis driving for me.
Should be a “must” tour for those visiting the Mendoz region.
Don’t forget to bring PESOS!!
Patrice_D, Jan 2018
Very beautiful tour through such a fantastic scenery. Expert guide for the region. A bit unfortunate not being able to get a bit closer to the Aconcagua. Lunch part a bit disorganized.

If I could give this tour minus stars I would and if I could find a way to demand a refund I would. Not because of the places it goes to or the content of the tour which we didnt actually get to experience but for the discomfort!
We were picked up from our hotel in a minibus that was already quite full. The only spare seats were at the back of the bus. Though legroom was limited it was bearable until we stopped to pick up two more passengers. It was impossible for 4 adults to fit in these seats. It was so uncomfortable and claustrophobic that we had to ask the bus to stop and get off. The guide was quite unsympathetic but she had the best seat on the bus!
We went back to our hotel Finca Adalgisa and the receptionist was very helpful. He arranged a private driver to take us. The car was very comfortable and the driver spoke perfect English and was a qualified guide. If there were 4 passengers in the car the cost would have been cheaper than this trip.
We had a great day in comfort and often were the only people at each of the stops which gave us a really personal experience. We saw our bus at the view point for Aconcagua but this was on the highway. Because we were in a car we were able to enter a small car park and take a short walk to a much better viewpoint.
Our driver took us to a great place for lunch and helped us to get a really authentic lunch which was very good and great value. Our driver also seamed to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all the best and cleanest bathroom facilities on route !
We have previously had good experiences on Viator tours and booked this because of our previous good experience but will think twice next time.
My advice is dont do this unless you have a longing to travel for 10 -12 hours on a school bus. Take a private tour and if there are 4 of you.

The cordillera was starkly spectacular, puente del Inca was stunning.
Only negative was we were last picked up therefore at the back of the bus and so the English was difficult to comprehend.
Also, take cash for lunch and shopping in Uspallata.

Nice bus tour of the Andes. Saw all the highlights. Lunch was ok. Tour guide was great and knowledgeable about the area.
John P, Oct 2017
Great affordable tour. Guide gave the tour in English as well even though I was the only English speaking person on the tour.
audrey c, Aug 2017
Actually a great trip. A little scary and COLD but incredible. You don't get to do this twice in a lifetime unless you climd mountains for fun.
The guide was knowledgeable and informative. I would also say, this was FUN!
Courtney P, Jun 2017
We were the only English speakers on the tour and ended up at the back of the bus so didn't get to hear really any of the descriptions or history of the area. If you're an English-only speaker not sure I'd recommend this one. Also it's a long day on the bus so be prepared, but the landscape is beautiful!
