Itinerary

Relax during your time onshore in Mazatlan and spend it at a beach front resort with this shore excursion that includes a day pass, transfers, lunch, and some beverages.

After your cruise ship docks, take the shuttle to the cruise terminal and meet your tour representative inside. Travel by air-conditioned minivan to Gaviana Resort, in the heart of the Golden Zone and the main shopping area.

You’ll have around 4 hours to take advantage of the resort’s amenities, including its beach, pool, hot tub, and water activities. Your package includes lunch and two alcoholic beverages.

At the end of your excursion, get dropped off back at the cruise terminal for a hassle-free experience.

Did not include any of the things that I paid for that it said were included lunch 2 drinks bottled water etc

Hello Jill, I understand your confusion, which is why we eliminated the "lunch not included option" The name of the tour says with lunch, and we had the option inside the tour to include or not include lunch and drinks. Causing confusion of whether lunch was included or not, therefore we only offer this option with lunch to avoid any confusion or unpleasant experiences.

Great local spot

Great beach and pool. The food at the restaurant was very good and the kids loved getting the drinks. Make sure they know what size of drinks you want because they might give you a large sized drink that will take up both of your drinks. The van driver was great and he returned exactly on time to take us back to the cruise terminal. Bring cash for tips and be prepared to be accosted by local vendors trying to sell you sand toys, jewelry, sunglasses, hair braiding, etc

Swindled and had to pay more

We were swindled. No instructions on the ticket how to find the tour. Finally found Mazatlan van tours. Overbooked the tour, not enough seats in the van. Taken to “gaviana resort” not los Flores as advertised. Manager of resort didn’t know what was included in our ticket, then we were told to “enjoy and order whatever it’s fine”. When it was time to be picked up we were given a $140 bill - told lunch and beverages not included. Van driver yelling saying I had to pay, that my ticket didn’t include lunch. Ticket clearly says lunch and drinks included.

Not as advertised! Local scam

I believe that we were scammed. We purchased the day pass with lunch and transport for our family of 4. The van did not have enough seats for our group, so my daughter had to sit on my lap. She is not little. They dropped us off at the hotel and said “just meet me back here at 4pm.” We went in and found that they left us at a different hotel then the one on the website. The staff there said “it’s ok, just order whatever you like.” They reassured us multiple times. All smiles. About an hour before leaving, the tour guide and manager come towards us very angrily. They basically say that we knew that we had to pay for all drinks and food, and if we didn’t pay, then the tour company would have to pay. They were yelling at this point. They were blaming Viator for mislabeling the tour. In order to leave, calm everyone down and not frighten the kids, we just settled the bill which was an additional $110.

Very nice time in Mazatlán- Well worth the money

We were transported from the cruise terminal in Mazatlán via van by Carlos, our careful driver and very nice guide. He went out of his way to make our stay as memorable as possible. The ride took about 25 minutes along the malecón (beach front highway). When we arrived at the Gaviana resort, we were given wristbands, towels and told that we could have two drinks each and a lunch. Then we were shown around, and headed to get a shady spot on the beach. That was somewhat of a challenge as other guests were also looking for shaded areas with lounge chairs. Of course, we also had access to the pools. At any rate, everything that was promised by Viator came to fruition. The beach was nice, especially the June water temperature. And the resort service, although not at a fancy 5 star location, was excellent. We spent a good 5 1/2 hours there, and were taken back to our ship on time. It was certainly worth the money.

They picked us up right at the pier. They made it easy. The resort was beautiful and the food was amazing. The bartenders were so nice! The only downside was that the gift shop did not accept credit cards and were unfamiliar as to how to give correct change back in US dollars. But besides that, everything was perfect!

This hotel was new for this excursion . The service was really good at Hotel Gaviana. Food was good. It is limited to lunch and two drinks per person. Any drinks or food beyond is on the customer. Beach access and pool access at no extra charge. Frank was very interested in our feedback for this trip and made sure we were taken care of.

1 meal and 2 drink coupons included. Beach was clean. Lots of vendors. $20 extra for beach chair and umbrella on the beach though. Pool was clean and refreshing. WiFi only in the restaurant space.
