Our guide Abdul was very friendly and knowledgable. Thanks to him we now feel like we know a lot about Moroccan culture. The pick up to our hotel was smooth and tea was delightful. The camel stroll through the palm grove was fun and the sunset was beautiful.

We are just back from the really wonderful experience of riding a camel across the palm groves at sunset. The driver and camel guide were both lovely, friendly people and were happy to answer all our questions about camels. We were treated to a snack of bread and olives with mint tea. The camels were adorable, especially the baby camel, Scooby Doo, who accompanied his mum while she worked.

What To Expect

Begin your experience with a pickup from your central Marrakesh hotel. Meet your friendly driver, hop inside your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with the rest of your group, and set off for your first destination—a traditional Berber home.

Be welcomed by the friendly family who lives in the house, and sit down for a delicious, freshly brewed mint tea—a staple in Morocco. As you sip, chat with the family members about their daily lives and the customs they follow.

Next, return to your vehicle and drive to the Palmeraie, a picturesque palm grove on the fringes of the city. Be shown to your camel and learn how these hardy desert animals have been used for transport in Morocco for centuries thanks to their ability to travel long distances without water.

After a safety briefing, climb into the saddle on the back of the camel and relax as you enjoy a ride through the verdant palms and sands. Take photos of the views as the sun descends through the sky and absorb the serenity of the surroundings as you saunter through the grounds.

After your ride, drive back to your hotel where your experience ends.

A beautiful sunset while riding the „Ships of the Desert“.

A very pleasant and interesting experience, riding the „Ships of the Desert“ in a large natural area at sunset. Our guide was pleasant and informative and added warmth to the experience. After about 30 minutes we stopped for refreshments and then returned. Our driver Mohammed was also very professional and helpful. All in all a good if you want a camel ride without spending 3 days going to the desert.

The driver Abdl, Jonas the tour guide were very professional and kind. We had a good time hearing about the local perspectives about the country. The tour is in the desert and you’re invited to someone’s home for food. Our host was also very welcoming and very generous with the serving. We were given Berber attire for the tour, which was worn over our clothes. We road two camels and there was a young baby camel that joined the trip as well. This was our first time doing something like this so, definitely a great memory for the books.

Picked-up promptly by Abdel at our hotel, short informative drive to the camel ride. Abdel shared lots of information on Monuments and Morocco generally with us. Met Yasin (the camel trainer) who helped us dress in traditional wear (including a headscarf that helped with the sun), and then led us on a lovely camel ride. He even took professional looking photos for us! We had a snack of delicious tea, bread, and olives at a local family home, and then back on the camels to meet Abdel who drove us back. Wonderful experience! My teen son loved it!

We had an amazing experience on the sunset camel trek! Mawran our driver picked us up promptly and was an amazing host! Very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to! The only downside was the litter in the area that the camels were walking through and broken bottles. The hosts were lovely very accommodating and camels appeared contented and well looked after, and were treated kindly. I liked the tradional wear available and head scarf as well as the tea and nibbles.

Really great experience. We were made to feel welcome by 2 members can't remember their names but one I think was Yusuf. The handlers were really reassuring as one of our member was scared of the camels and lightened the mood. One of the handlers were really knowledgeable in answering our questions about camels etc and were happy to take so many of our pictures whilst on the camels passing the sunset. The hospitality of the lady in the berber house made us feel at home with fresh bread, mint tea and biscuits made available. Thank you for a lovely experience and exceeding our expectations - from England the girl who said she does kickboxing :)

I can not describe how amazing the experience was! Shame it finished so quick because we did enjoy every second of it! Guys are well spoken (English) and told us some history of Marrakesh. My son and I wanted a longer camel ride and booked this through Viator. We were picked up from our hotel on time and had a really lovely ride on the camels just as the sun went down. Dressing in traditional outfits added to the fun! We stopped for mint tea and a snack halfway and a little herd of young camels followed us along. It was really lovely and a real highlight of our stay in Marrakech!

The whole family really enjoyed this trip. Our driver Abdul was friendly and gave us an insight into local culture and politics as ge drove us between the hotel and the camels. Hassan and his team were excellent and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable and reassuring our youngest who was a little alarmed by the camel getting up and down. The trip itself is a really good length and very chilled out.

Worth every penny, lovely camel ride with a break where we were served freshly made bread along with olives and moroccan tea. Was very welcomed and we’re all so friendly especially The driver Abdul he made the experience extra special, took care of my bag for me during the ride.throughout the journey there and back he shared so much knowledge and history with us, he had us and the other couple laughing along the way. Really wish we had brung some money to tip him as he well deserved it.

Marwan the driver was very helpful and picked us up directly from the hotel. He was very polite and friendly and even went the extra mile by letting us use his WIFI hotspot to make an emergency call, which he didn’t have to do. Hamaza the tour guide was very nice and made the experience very enjoyable. He took several pictures of us with our phones and made conversation throughout the journey. We were also served traditional tea accompanied with bread and biscuits which were delicious.

We had a great time during our sunset camel ride in marrakech. I wasn’t sure to go for the short one in the palmeraie (ie. This one) or a longer one in the desert. I’m so happy I chose this one. The pick up and driving back were really smooth. Marwan, our driver, was very kind and entertaining. He had a lot of family history to share and was happy to answer our questions about the country. He also got us a small bottle of water before stating the activity, which was very welcome ! When we arrived on site (a 15 minutes drive from the medina), we were greeted by Hamzah - the tour guide and person who walked with us and the camels. He was also very friendly and witty and made sure we were comfortable. He answered our many questions about the animals and would stop on the way to take pictures of us. We started by dressing up and then hopped on the camels. I knew I would enjoy the activity but it went beyond my expectations and I’m so grateful I had the chance to experience a camel ride in such a beautiful setting with great people. We stopped midway for some tea and food in a little Berber house (really lovely) and back onto the camel to go back home. If you’re hesitating between a long ride in the desert or this ride, go for this one. The tour is not long so you’re not spending a good chunk of your day away and it doesn’t feel touristy. Actually it felt quite intimate. Thanks Marwan, Hamza and the camels for such an amazing time (from Charlotte and Peter).

If you want to tick the box, camel ride at sunset, then you won’t be disappointed. The area is not like the true desert, but is only a short drive away from the city centre. The camels look well taken care of and you can see the owner really adores his camels. The staff are really friendly and they take you for a long walk around, and also take excellent photos and videos for you. Would highly recommend the experience

Such a wonderful one-of-a-kind experience! Marwan was our driver and very knowledgeable about Marrakech. Once we arrived, Hamza was our guide during the ride to and from the Berber tent. He made the experience memorable and made sure to stop for all the photo-ops. Once at the tent we had delicious mint tea, olives, and bread before heading back on the camels. The ride finishes while the sun is setting, such a beautiful back drop! Can’t recommend this tour enough.

Hamaz was our guide. He quickly calmed our fears with his sense of humor when explaining how to mount and dismount. The education about the animals as well as the region was very much appreciated. We would do this again. The animals were very gentle and the experience is perfect for families with younger children too.

This was a fun and memorable ride from beginning to end. Our ride to and from the Palm Grove was great, thanks to our driver, who described what we were seeing on the road. Our camels and guide were wonderful and was a perfect sunset and ride. Victoria, Sophia and Maumania were experienced dromedaries making our trek through the grove very pleasant and fun. Highly recommend this to anyone.

We got to the palm grove where our excursion started, however before that our taxi driver was fantastic any questions about the city he knew shoutout to him. Our guide for the evening was Marouane he was fantastic, very knowledgable about the camels and he was excellent with our 7 yr old daughter taking it nice and slow for her and answering all her questions. We then took a short stop to have some mint tea, olives and biscuits which was all lovely. Then we all got back on our camels to go back to our transport watching the sunset heading back. Definitely recommend this trip anyone, especially families with young children they’d love it. 10/10
