What To Expect
Begin this tour with pickup at your Marrakech accommodations—if your hotel is in the old city, simply meet the driver at the closest point that’s accessible by vehicle. On your way out of Marrakech, stop at a traditional Berber house for a glass of mint tea, an important symbol of Moroccan hospitality and culture.
Continue into the Palmeraie, an oasis that sprawls 54 square miles (140 square km.) from the edge of the city, filled with date palm groves, elegant homes, resorts, and traditional communities. Take in views of spiky palm groves and the low-lying vegetation as the sun goes down, and enjoy the rhythmic, swaying gait of your camel. At the end of a 1-hour ride, say goodbye to your camel and meet the driver for the return trip to your Marrakech accommodations.
Note: To ensure that your group is able to ride together, we suggest signing up all members in a single booking.

I was very nervous as it was my first time doing a camel ride and I found how tall the camels were slightly intimidating. Our lovely guide Hamza made me feel safe as his knowledge of the camels was abundant and the animals were very well kept. I didn’t want to ride the camel on the way back because although I am very glad I did it once I didn’t want to get back up on the camel. Hamza was very kind and let my mum and myself lead the camels back and I really enjoyed this too.

While in Morocco, my friend and I decided we wanted to try a camel ride. We definitely did not want to do the 4+ hour camel ride into the desert; that was too long for us. We just wanted a taste of riding a camel. This excursion was PERFECT for just that, and at the right price. The whole thing was about 2 hours (including pickup/drop off) and was only $38 per person. We rode the camels for about 30-40 minutes (more than enough time in my opinion, b/c my bum started to get sore towards the end). Note, you are not riding in a desert technically. You ride through the "Palm Groves" which is a giant sandy area with palm trees that is between hotels and Berber neighborhoods. So, if you are wanting a ride thru the Sahara desert, that is not this. Our guide (Zechariah? Zalaryia?) was AWESOME!! You'll see him in the green hat in the pictures. He was energetic, kind, helpful, and made sure we all a) stayed on the camels, and b) got amazing pictures. He took turns using all of our phones to take fantastic pictures of our group so we came away with great memories. He also made us a little souvenir camel out of grass (see pictures). We got mint tea and cookies in a little tent in the middle of the ride. I highly recommend this excursion if you are just wanting a 'sample' of camel riding.

Excellent evening. The staff were super. The camels were well looked after. The pick up was on time. Everyone had a great time. A must in Morocco!!

Overall very nice but it all depends on how clear the sky is. The tour guides we had were nice and sang songs along the way. It took about 2.5-3 hours for the camel ride, tea and back. It's worth it if you have never sat on a camel before.

It was a lovely tour but it was in an artificial place.
Got to see the sun set and visited a barber house.

Have tried other tours with Viator where the balance between price and value were more appropriate. Picked up at hotel 1-hour earlier than informed and 2-3 hours before sunset - and 10min drive to starting point for camel ride. Then 1 hour and a quarter nice and comfortable camel-ride between the palm trees including tea - and return to hotel - where we could view the sunset during the next hour from our terrace. At least we can say we are glad to support the camel owner with the possibility to have double turnover - and at least offer a good experience for customers which happens to be there during the sunset.

This was a great trip to be fair. We were picked up in a small van from our hotel 2 hours before sunset, drove to palm grove and then we meet with others who booked the trip. We then waited 10mins and were dressed in traditional Moroccan robes and shown to our camels. We then rode through a large patch of sand / palm trees, stopped for tea in a Berber and then made our way back as the sun was setting. This was great and for the price of 25 each pp - it was worth it.

Very helpful and polite guides.
Camel ride is a must I guess for tourists.
You get to wear local clothes and turban provided by the guides.
I would change the village visit a bit.
Its a bit dirty and there is no meeting with locals personally I wouldnt blame them with all these tourists!
Generally good experience

We had already done a small camel ride the day before which was quite uncomfortable so were apprehensive. However the camels on this trip were a lot more comfortable and were in better condition. We were able to get fantastic photos and the scenery was great. The sunset was timed well and some baby camels followed us as one of my friends was on the mother camel. It was great to see them come running every time the mother called.

Our family of 5 adults ages 62 - 28 thoroughly enjoyed the sunset camel ride. The evening temperatures were perfect and the stop for mint tea in the picturesque village was fun. We got lots of great pictures and had some laughs with the two guides who went with our camel train. We did see someone fall off a camel and I would caution you to be careful taking photos and make sure you hang on at all times. The guides are willing to take photos for you. The scenery is not spectacular but we saw dates ripening on trees and heard some interesting bird calls. I would recommend not taking backpacks or any large bags with you and there's no need to take water. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Marrakech.

This was an interesting experience. We drove past numerous stopping points where camels were waiting for rides and finally came across ours. The drive was approx 20-25mins and we were dropped off and dressed up in Turbans/ Kaftans straight away for a photo. We waited only for about 5-10mins for our camels Olivia and Shakira who were both pregnant. It was lovely watching the babies walk freely alongside their mothers. We got on board and headed out into the Palm Groves with our guide, it was lovely just being my friend and I. Unfortunately it was very over cast so no sunset. I was not expecting to feel so saddle sore after 20- 30minutes of riding a camel! We then stopped in a little berber village and was given Moroccan Tea with cookies! we then got back on our camels and headed back to the start where our drivers waited for us. Excursion done in 2 hours!! An enjoyable experience and definitely worth doing once.

Very good tour around Marrakech. Guide redouan was helpful and took several photos which he sent us. Highly recommended.

If you just want to get a couple pictures on a camel, this tour is fine. But if you are expecting anything else, you will be disappointed. They take you to a field and you ride around on a camel in what looks like a deserted slum. Then they wanted us to get off the camel in the middle of this little homeless village and have tea. It did not feel safe or sanitary, so we declined.

WARNING: be very careful when booking this camel ride. What Viator doesn't tell you is that it works with multiple camel ride operators and it's a toss up on who you will get it. Therefore, if everyone in your group books separately, there is a HIGH chance that you will be on multiple different tours. This is what happened to us. Luckily, Sunset Camel Tours was able to work things out with the 2 other camel operators that we were randomly placed in. So in the end all 8 of us were able to be on one tour.
Sunset Camel Tours was amazing! They dressed us up in typical Moroccan clothes and took us around the Palm Grove. The tour guides were so friendly and made us cute camel shaped souvenirs made out of palm tree leaves. And they really love their camels! I saw one playing and rubbing his head against one while we were walking up to them. Then they took us to a typical Berber house where they were super gracious and gave us tea and pastries!!! This is seriously a must do experience when you come to Marrakech!! And the sunset was so beautiful in the Palm Grove and since the sun was going down, it wasn't that hot outside either which was a HUGE blessing during the middle of summer in Marrakech! I would definitely recommend it but make sure to ask for the Sunset Camel Tours because they are amazing and made our tour one of the highlights of our trip!

Well worth the price! Great experience with friendly staff. The tea was very good as well. Definitely recommend this ride.

This tour is the best way to truly experience a Morrocan sunset. The staff were very friendly and made sure we got all the pictures we needed from our adventure. This was a great way to finish our stay in Marrakesh and I highly recommend it for those who want a memorable moment in Morroco.
INGRID_L, May 2016
I was not very impressed with this. When you are on your way to the Palm Grove you can see other companies set up to do the exact same thing. The view is less than impressive and the ride is pretty boring. It is not over a sunset like in the picture. You ae basically riding a camel in an empty field with palm trees. Do it for the experience if you have never rode a camel before but I did not feel it was worth it at all.
