Informative guide who knows the Medina well!

Mohammed was a very informative guide with a lot of knowledge of the Medina bc he grew up there. He took us around to show us a few headed local spots, a few historical spots as well as typical tourist attractions. He is very kind and polite and even bought us some nice chocolates to try.

While our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable, it bears mentioning that you have to pay for your own entrance into the Medersa Ben Youssef (cash only) and the Secret Gardens. Additionally, you should plan to bring extra cash if you plan to shop. Our guide took us to places he found to be high quality, which was nice, but be ruthless with your negotiations as the vendors will inflate prices greatly.

Thank you for sharing your feedback! Of course the expenses are not included as it stated on the product! Probably you missed it! . In addition to this, you should bring cash with you on the tour and ask your guide to haggle for you in the souk. Safe travels!

Excellent Marrakech activity

We were fortunate to have the same guide as we did the previous day on another trip. Charif was again excellent and shared so much of his knowledge and passion for his beautiful country. He also treated us to some snacks, and mint tea of course, along the way! This trip is highly recommended with Charif and good value for money.

Our guide was very knowledgable about the Souks but we didn’t see all of the sights listed in the itinerary. I feel like we didn’t get what we paid for and it was very expensive for what we got.

Navigate Medina Artisan shops with a Guide

Our guide, Ali, was an energetic pro who escorted us on a brisk and colorful tour of the Medina. We had the option to tour the Ben Youssef Medersa and the Musee de Marrakech which we did and recommend (small additional entrance fees). Ali is a story teller and shared information in between the 5 authentic artisan shops we visited (leather, lamps, rugs, herbs/oils/spices and jewelry). This was an enjoyable, educational and no pressure shopping experience. We appreciated navigating the Medina with an expert. We taught Ali about college football—Roll Tide!

Fab Tour

Met by Abdel outside Cafe France. He was very friendly and warm. He took us on a walking tour through the souks and we also visited Medersa Ben Yousef had to pay extra for entrance to this, not expensive and wasn't aware we would be visiting during the tour so a nice surprise. Abdel guided us through the souks and we were glad to have him with us as I feel we would of got lost otherwise as the place felt like a maze. He was very knowledgeable and we were not hassled by anyone as we were with a guide. Huge thanks to Abdel for a great tour.

I came from a morning tour so I was at Cafe de France as early as 12:40PM (I asked the morning tour guide to show me where the Cafe was, instead of bringing me back to my hotel), and left probably around 3PM. I purchased a private tour. I ate lunch inside the cafe as it was hot outside. Just before 2PM, I went outside. Stood by the front entrance where the menu of Cafe de France was posted. I was looking for a guide who was alone, as the other tour guides, had people with them. Not once did I hear my name uttered. Nor did I see anyone with a sign with my name on it. Remember, I booked a private tour. There was one male guide who was also looking for his customer and asked me if I was that person. I said "no", and I was waiting for my tour guide for the Medina tour. He told me it must be the guide to my left, who was with several people. This male guide went to this other guide, and I followed him, so I was beside him when he asked if he was the tour guide for the Medina and if he had my name on his list. The other guide quickly answered "no". There were other guides that came but they all had an entourage, meaning, not a private tour. I walked from right to left to see if there was any tour guide that looked like he or she was looking for his customer. NONE. Still, I waited patiently. People can be late at times. But when it felt like I waited long enough, I messaged the tour operator. After a short while, the tour operator responded saying the guide WAS THERE! Imagine my shock! Then I felt angry because I knew this operator was lying. I told him I was there so I should be refunded. I do not know if I should be happy or not, but the operator said immediately my refund was on its way. THAT FAST. But there are no perfect "crimes" you see. Because the tour operator added that these things happen, but the guide was there, and the other members of the tour found him/her. See, the tour operator was trying to make it appear I was the only one who missed the guide. Big mistake! At this point, I messaged back that my tour was supposed to be a private Medina tour. So it's possible the tour guide and tour operator really dissed me because mine was a private tour, and they would make more money with a bigger group. I even sent him a picture of the male guide who helped me out asking this other guide, because he thought he was doing a Medina tour. I messaged the tour operator that if he could send a picture of the guide who was supposed to be there, then I would be able to identify if it was that guy who denied me flat out when asked, or some other guide who was there, since as I said, I was there at the appointed time. Had I been asked, I would have been fine with a non-private tour. I told the operator I would be able to identify the guide if he/she was there. It is possible, that one group of people was actually together, and this was a private tour for them as well, except with more paying members, compared to me who was a solo traveler. Also, If the guide was really there, I thought, this was a walking tour, the group could not have been too far ahead. But as I said, the tour operator was just quick to refund me.

Our guide Charif was knowledgeable and thoughtful, and his tone was very soft so that the time we spent together was absolutely comfortable. He taught us history and politics of Marrakech, which was eye-opening to us. He also answered all the questions we asked. It was, however, in souks we wholeheartedly appreciated Charif’s help. Had it not been for him, we could not have enjoyed ourselves enormously or would not have purchased what we wanted. He even bargained for us at the shop exactly where we had requested to go at the beginning of the tour. I highly recommend this tour, especially Charif. Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience

We had a super great afternoon on this tour - we went around the inner corners of the Medina, which we would have had NO way of finding without the expertise of our guide. We got to learn about how Moroccans live and take care of each other as well as seeing the amazing abilities of some vendors. We also got to experience a traditional Riad versus a very modern Riad, and seeing the architectural differences between the two was incredible. I highly recommend this tour because it's an amazing way to see the insides of the market in a very safe and illuminating way. I'm also a photography nut, which I told our guide, and he kept showing me incredible places to take pictures, which in turn helped me notice and appreciate little details even more. Thanks for a wonderful day - could not recommend more!

Visite guidee d une demi journee dans la medina

Visite du nord de la medina avec passage par l école coranique (prix non inclus dans le prix ajouter 50 dh) magique bâtiment il manque juste la possibilité de visiter le musée le l école. Puis passage et arrêt sur plusieurs artisans (tapis bois plâtre...) sans obligation d achat mais toujours gênant. Puis nous finissons par la place des épices Toujours agréable de passer toutes ces ruelles avec un guide pour une 1ere fois à Marrakech. Houssain était très sympathique.

Il semble que ce fut une expérience enrichissante malgré quelques petits points à améliorer, comme la possibilité de visite le musee. Le prix de l'ecole coranique n'est pas inclus dans la visite (ajout de 50 dh). La diversité des artisans et la découverte de la place des épices semblent avoir été des moments agréables, et il est super de savoir que Houssain était très sympathique. Notre Guide Ahrim a été juste génial, très sympathique et agréable. Il connaît Marrakech comme sa poche ce qui nous a permis de découvrir la ville sous un autre angle.
