This was a wonderful day trip. In the morning, we were picked up nice and early, on time, and had the opportunity to have breakfast as part of the experience at a Berber household. As we were the first ones, we got to experience their hospitality without interruption. The breakfast was great and the family was so warm and welcoming. Our driver, Oualid, was also excellent. He was so kind and respectful, stopping at places to allow us to take pictures and giving us the time to explore at our own pace. He also was very accomodating to a disabled family member we had with us. The rest of the day trip was also amazing as we had a lot of time to explore the area, buy items from the locals and had a wonderful lunch by the river.
The communication with the company in regards to booking was also great. They responded quickly and comprehensively, giving us all the information required to book. They were very trustworthy and I would definitely recommend them for a day excursion to the Atlas Mountains, especially for first time visitors to Marrakech.

Our driver Mohamed arrived exactly in time and was very good all day. The experience was fabulous and this was made easier with such a knowledgeable driver who we felt really wanted to look after us and was very respectful of our requests.
We went for a traditional breakfast in a house which was really interesting and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Then we were able to ask the driver to stop for pictures of the mountains wherever we wanted.
We went to an Argan oil cooperative which again was interesting, there is zero pressure to go or purchase but we found the place and products fabulous and made some fabulous purchases. We can stock up online after we have gone home also. The cafe by the river was great with excellent photo opportunities and views.
The trip to the waterfall on our final stop was really lovely with loads of good photo opportunities. The walk up is fine, but would not be suitable for anyone not steady on there feet or not able to manage some larger steps/rocks. We hired a guide for the walk but not really sure it was needed. We went at midday and it was quieter for people but on the way back down it was so much busier. Passing places thin in some places so there was a wait for people going up to go past at certain points, would not have been as good if far more people. There are some shops on the way up to the waterfall and toilets are half way up (closed when we went past) and also a drink cafe at the top but no toilets there.
Overall we loved this trip and would highly recommend. I would highly recommend Mohamed as a driver if you can request.

Great day out and all went smoothly. A perfect opportunity to experience some Moroccan culture and have a bit of fun riding a camel.
Zaki was our driver and guide for the day and he was prompt in picking us up from our hotel and provided lots of information throughout the day and was always polite. Lovely air conditioned car. We had read the reviews about the challenging hike to the waterfalls so we opted to finish our day after lunch by the river at Setti Fatma. As this was a private tour we could go at our own pace and we were never rushed.
Moncef at Atlas Excursions was prompt in replying to all my questions and was very patient with me and provided all the information we needed about the day and, as mentioned, was happy to tailor it to our wishes. Thoroughly recommend this company and this tour.

The trip was amazing. The views from the way were so different and natural. The local people were really welcoming and nice. Mr Said, the driver, was amazingly helpful. He gave us options for restauratnts and things to see in Marrakech. He also stopped whenever we wanted and helped in anyhting needed. We were overwhelmed by how kind and genuine he was. Highly recommended tour in a very reasonable price.

As with several trips we did in and around Marrakech, Viator arranged this trip through local company 'Instyle' travel.
I cannot complement the drivers/guides from Instyle enough, they are friendly, helpful and Knowledgeable.
Our driver for this trip was Muhammed, he drove us up into the Atlas mountains stopping at a traditional Berber house for green mint tea before heading up to our drop off point for the walk to the falls. We were then passed over to our local/walking guide, also called Muhammed, who couldn't have been more helpful and supportive on the trail up to the falls, he was very careful to lend a helping hand to my wife and daughters whenever he felt they needed it and was full of useful information about the local area.
In the Ourika valley it is common for guests at restaurants to sit and eat there meal at a table in the river, so you have your feet in the water to keep cool, sure enough our included meal was served in this fashion which is certainly something to try at least once!
After our meal Muhammed picked us up for the trip back down the mountains to Marrakech, he even stopped at a village fruit market at our request and helped as our translator while we bought fresh produce to cook our evening meal.
Instyle seem to specialize in small group tours, for us as a family of 5 we found this a perfect way to to see the local sights as we had our very own driver/guide who did not have to share his attention with a bus full of other guests. You travel in smaller vehicles, comfortable and air conditioned so because of this you driver can tailor the trip slightly to suit you.
I cannot recommend 'Instyle travel' enough and would advise anyone to use their small group private tours.

This is a great trip to see something entirely different to the City. We went during Ramadan and the weather was unseasonably cold, so the area was quite quiet which might feel quite different when the river is full of people taking in the sun going up the drop off point for the walk to the waterfalls.
Said, the driver, was great taking us there and our walking guide Mohammed was excellent taking us up to the waterfalls - being both entertaining and also helping us get over the more difficult areas in the safest way possible. You should be aware that the walk to the waterfalls is not particularly long, but if you are unsure on your feet there are some relatively challenging areas when you have to cross the river over stones and for instance go up/down a short ladder, so the smaller the group the better as the guide will be able to help you more.
That said, the walk is certainly worth it and the views of the waterfall and the valley are great.

Beautiful tour. Our driver and tour guide were amazing. Wear hiking shoes and get ready to hike an hour up the mountains. Also there’s about 20-30 min of rock climbing involved to get to the waterfall. Otherwise beautiful trip, delicious food, and wonderful people we met along the way. Love Morocco.

Good:
- Our driver Sayeed was really nice and friendly - he told us about the history of Marrakech and the areas we passed by.
- We really enjoyed visiting a berber house and eating a traditional breakfast. It felt authentic and the family were very nice and welcoming though they didn't speak English.
- It was good to learn how argan oil was made in the women's co-operative although it was enormously overpriced and more of a shop than a place of production
Bad:
- Unfortunately after we arrived at Ourika, the trip was not fun at all. Our nice driver left us with a far less friendly guide who was only interested in taking us to his friends' shops and restaurant which were tourist traps. He just rushed ahead of us without saying anything the rest of the time - and then had the cheek to beg for a tip! The small waterfall is quite uninspiring and the hike to get there is just a littered path past loads of touts selling the same tourist junk as in Marrakech. For lunch, you are taken to a restaurant without being given the option to go anywhere else although the whole area looks quite unappealing. The place was empty except for us, virtually no choice on the menu. I ended up paying 120dh for a horrible lukewarm soup in a dirty bowl, a lukewarm plate of meat and chips, and a pot yoghurt from a supermarket multipack. I was scared I'd get food poisoning! After that it was a relief to go back to our hotel.
I am sorry to leave a bad review because the driver was very nice, but we finished the day feeling like we'd been scammed.

The trip was a bit disorganized - up until we reached the berber village we had no idea of the itinerary or schedule for the day. there were no guides on the drive - the driver was friendly though. When we recahed the village we went off with a wrong guide at first and then the guide for our group was found. We were supposed to return by 5 pm but got back only at 6:15 pm. Guides were friendly through out and the lunch was good.

Trip was a little disappointing really. The waterfall was good to look at but there was so much rubbish both in the water and around it that spoiled it. The restaurant we ate at was overlooking the waterfall and that was nice. The food was really good also. The walk to the waterfall was not taxing for us but some people in our party found it hard going. It was good to get out of Marrakech and breathe some cleaner air.

We both enjoyed the trip including the visit to the Berber house which was really interesting to witness their way of life. The Argan Oil visit wasn't that interesting and really a sales stop. The part of the trip that needs sorting out was the trek to the waterfall which was Not explained correctly in Viator's marketing information. Basically, it was a very steep hill/mountain climb which should have been described as such to prepare clients for. There was a mixture of rickety bridges and rugged rocks to climb over and the correct climbing clothing and footwear was required. we eventually reached the waterfall which was a real disappointment as I was expecting something more spectacular then we had to climb up a vertical slippery ladder more rugged uphill terrain until we reached the summit. there were some great views from here and the opportunity to take some photos. Then we descended down the other side of the hill which wasn't quite as difficult as the ascent. My partner slipped and nearly fell down into the side of the steep hill. We eventually reached the bottom and breathed a sigh of relief. The guide Mohammed was brilliant and without his help neither of us would have made it back to base. Basically, to attempt this climb you need to be pretty fit, wear the right clothing and either rock climbing boots or cross trainers with good grips. I also know of someone else who managed to fall doing this climb. Health and Safety would have a field day with this expedition.
On a brighter note, the 3 coarse lunch after the climb was excellent especially the chicken tagine. Our driver Saed was also extremely helpful throughout the day.

There was no tour guide, just a driver, so we learned literally nothing about what we were seeing. He didn't talk to us the entire drive there or back. This was supposed to be an educational experience not just sight seeing. It is a short day, it ended at 2pm and they made us sit at a really not nice lunch spot when there were so many around it that were much nicer and cheaper. It felt like a rip-off because 34 is a lot of money to them and I felt like this was the only way we could do this because we didn't want to hire a taxi but the value was about 10. The hike is a toursity joke with tons of shops along the way and very crowded that takes a long time but is actually just a simple walk to a mediocre waterfall. Not impressed, do not go on this tour.

Had a really great day trip. Driver Said arrived punctually and we then picked up another couple before heading to the Berber village approx 90 mins from Marrakech. Were shown around the village by a local Berber who introduced us to a family who welcomed us into their home and gave us a tasty breakfast. Our next stop was for a camel ride, this lasted approx 30 mins and was very enjoyable. We then traveled for another half an hour where we met our guide Souffiane who expertly helped us trek up to the waterfalls. It was not too difficult although there is a little bit of rock climbing involved.Well worth the trek and there are some excellent photo opportunities. After this we went to a restaurant by a mountain stream, the setting was lovely although the meal we had was pretty average compared to others I'd had during the holiday. We then headed back to Marrakech. The trip was really good and both guides were excellent. I would definitely recommend it.

Previous reviews suggested the trip had an actual tour guide, and we were picked up from our riad by someone who introduced himself as such but then disappeared after dropping us off with our driver.
We did have a guide/translator at the Berber house but through the Atlas Mountains trek, we were simply following a guy who helped us through the hike but spoke very little English. We weren't given the opportunity to find out much at all about the area, Marrakech or Morocco as suggested by some other reviews.
The trek to/past the waterfalls was a lot more difficult than suggested by other reviews also - we were two fit and healthy young men with decent shoes and definitely struggled through parts of it. And beware - you may be in the Atlas Mountains but you might as well be back in the souks, with the number of stalls and hawkers harassing you. Not helped by the fact that we reached the waterfall and were left by our guide to chill out, not realizing that to stay where we'd been dropped off we had to buy a drink or move on - not possible when the guide had disappeared!
Having read the reviews of other travelers we were really quite disappointed at our experience we'd hoped to have the chance to find out about life in Morocco and Marrakech as well as seeing some great scenes outside of the city, and were left wanting, having driven in silence to hike through what is nothing more than a tourist trap.

It was a fantastic experience. Our tour guide Marud was very helpful. He provided us with a smooth journey into the Ourika Valley region with a first stop over riding the camels. It was my first time riding a camel and it was excellent. It was around a 20 min camel ride which was exactly what we paid for for the entire package. We then drove further into the valley and was greeted by a local tour guide. He was excellent! He helped us all climb the rocky mountains and also experience the true nature of the waterfalls. Our lunch was great too and we sat in the river getting our feet wet. Overall a great experience and I would recommend anyone doing this tour whilst in Marrakesh. This is a fun trip to the mountains - you can ride a camel, explore waterfalls and have lunch along the river. Our driver/guide was excellent, super friendly and professional, and the hiking guide was great too. The waterfalls were extremely busy because it was summer holidays in Morocco so the climb was a little hairy with hundreds of other people on the rocks, but we enjoyed it. While the trip itself is good value, the only negative aspect was a visit to a local natural pharmacy where we were extremely overcharged for a local argan oil soaps etc. It put a slight dampener on the day but the rest of the trip was excellent. I would recommend to anyone, just be aware that you should always ask for clear prices upfront before you agree to anything in a shop. A lesson learned for me!

Brilliant tour, well worth the money! The guide was friendly, the food amazing! Be prepared for a lot of climbing on dangerous looking rocks... only downside was the guide kept lying about how much further there was to go, he could have saved some members of our party struggling to the last waterfall by allowing them to stay at a refreshment hut we passed again on the way back down....
