Sahara Desert Trip — Highly Recommended!

Kyrylo_D, Apr 2026
The Sahara desert trip was absolutely amazing. We visited the Atlas Mountains, explored the ancient village of Ait Ben Haddou (a UNESCO World Heritage site where many famous films were shot), rode camels through the desert, and fell asleep under the most breathtaking starry sky. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to our tour provider for two reasons: 1. Outstanding customer support. On the first day of the trip, we missed the bus — entirely our own fault, as we didn't have WhatsApp and our guide had no way to reach us with the pick-up details. Despite that, the tour provider generously offered us the same tour the following day at no extra cost. It was an incredibly kind gesture, and it speaks volumes about how much they care about their customers. So rest assured — even if you make a mistake, they will do everything they can to make it right. 2. An exceptional guide. Our guide, Ahmed Faska, was wonderful throughout the entire trip. He went out of his way to make sure all of our needs were met — whether that meant finding the nearest ATM when we ran short on cash, or making a quick stop so we could grab a drink. He made us feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely looked after every step of the way. We had an incredible experience with this team, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. If you're considering a desert tour, don't think twice — these guys are the real deal!

Amazing drivers and...

Zohra_M, Dec 2025
Amazing drivers and guide. He really took care of our group. He went above and beyond. Extremely grateful that he was with us the entire time. This trip exceeded my expectations.

Chaotic tour - a warning before booking.

Oliver_F, May 2025
This tour was pretty chaotic from start to finish, there was a complete lack of communication throughout, we were Ignored by our tour guide who exclusively spoke in French (even though we knew he could speak English) and that we could speak conversational French. There were Spanish and Italian speakers on the tour as well; of whom he could communicate just fine with. The stop at Ait Ben Haddou was amazing, as well as the stop at the Berber village, because we had a fantastic guide for both, but basically every other stop was a 5 min stop, where we were dumped on the side of the road, told to take a picture, given no information and then told to get back on the bus. 2 days of this, before the desert. The hotel on the first night was absolute pot luck. We ended up with a perfectly pleasant hotel but others were not so lucky. One thing to bear in mind is that there were around about 10-15 mini busses with multiple different tour groups. We discovered from talking to people from other buses, that everyone had booked through different operators, paid different prices and bought different “luxury” levels but everyone ended up doing essentially the same tour with the same accommodation, food and experience etc. When we actually got to the desert… the bit we had all been waiting for, we were dumped on the edge of the dune, with literally 0 explanation/plan, then shouted at and rushed around at 1,000,000 miles an hour on to the camels, again of which there was no explanation nor was there any safety. They didn’t even check to see if we were the right people or even supposed to be on the tour! The “sunset camel ride” was in fact a half an hour walk, that dropped us half way to our camp, with the sun still very much high in the sky. We got off our camels, confused as to how we would get to the camp, as we were in the middle of the dunes! Once again, 0 communication or questions answered, we were then hastily ushered into the truck bed of a pick up (after witnessing … no exaggeration… a head on collision of two land cruisers going up opposite sides of the dunes at serious speed, with a huge amount of tourists fleeing out of the two cars (more tourists than there were seatbelts!) That must have hurt! As you can imagine, we were hesitant to get in the rear of a pick up truck after witnessing that. We grabbed one of the “guides” and he stared at us and the scene absent mindedly, and said “SAHARA SAHARA” and with that, off we flew over the dunes, bouncing on the hard truck bed. Anyway… so much for a sunset camel ride. We were then dumped at the camp and pointed to a room and told dinner was at 9. It was currently 7:15pm. The dunes were admittedly stunning, a very surreal landscape but frankly the magic was ruined by the fact that literally every inch of dune was crawling with tourists, jeeps, quads, tire tracks and footprints. It wasn’t particularly “magical”. We then got to eat. Average at best., but somehow still some of the better food we had on this experience. Literally everything was extra on this tour and the prices were made up on the spot as I know people paid anywhere from 20-50 dhiram for a bottle of water at the camp. In our room the shower didn’t work and there were no plug sockets. The bed was perfectly comfy however the door didn’t work properly, we woke up at 3am to our door being wide open because the lock had broken. Exposed to the desert. Breakfast was a buffet but had pretty much ran out by half way through the queue of people. The entertainment of the evening was a few teenagers banging on drums around a camp fire. Which is fine I guess but it was sold as an “experience of Berber music”. Not too sure… Now… on to the final day. 5am start. Hour camel ride home (there were other options you could take at a additional cost but after the crash we had witnessed yesterday and the general lack of any safety concern we opted to stick with the camels!) So anyway the “sunrise camel trek” was not that either as we were walking away from the sunrise with no stops etc we just were hastily told to get on the camels and whisked away back to the bus where our “securely held” baggage was just dumped in a pile on the side of the road. Then ensued a rather painful 12 hour bus journey back to Marrakech with yet another tourist trap lunch stop and a stop to look at the “fossil museum” which was just a shop where they once again got rather irate if you didn’t buy anything. We arrived back in Marrakech at 7:30pm. Miraculously our guide could suddenly speak English after constantly telling us that we must write a 5 star review! A few warnings if you don’t want to read the whole review! ❌ it is horrendously organised ❌do not eat the lunch at the restaurants where they take you. Literally go next door or slightly down the road as the prices are 3-4x less than that of the prices in the tourist restaurants. For example on the last day we had a 2 starter 2 main 2 pudding 2 sodas 2 Moroccan tea and a big water for 110 dhiram at a local restaurant. The food at the places the tour takes you will be a set menu for 130 dhiram minimum and will be bad! ❌Everything is a sales pitch!! Do not be hustled into buying anything as we were. We were pressured at every turn to buy things we did not want and at massively inflated prices. Just remove yourself from the situation before the sales pitch. They will try to sell you something!! ❌warning there will be 0 communication we spoke to people from all the different busses and they all seemed to have the same experience ❌ the “guide” is just a driver they give you 0 information ❌the places they stop for breaks are a HUGE scam my recommendation would be to stock up on food and water when you’re in one of the larger towns ❌if you’re on a budget this tour is fine but don’t expect ANY bells and whistles or personal experience because it simply doesn’t happen. All in all, we were able to visit some incredible places and landscapes, unlike anything we had seen before, but for £150 please don’t expect it to be luxury!

Unforgettable 3-Day Trip – Perfect for Families!

Akos_F, Feb 2025
We just returned from an incredible three-day trip, and it was beyond amazing! The highlight was definitely Ait Ben Haddou – a breathtaking, historical site that felt like stepping into a movie scene. The landscapes were stunning, and we loved exploring the ancient kasbah. Our first night was spent in a lovely hotel in the Dades Valley, an absolutely beautiful area with dramatic rock formations and a peaceful atmosphere. The accommodations were comfortable, and we woke up to breathtaking views! The second day was magical – we had the chance to ride camels at sunset, an unforgettable experience that felt straight out of a dream. Spending the night in a desert tent was another highlight; it was cozy and well-prepared, making the experience comfortable even with kids. The atmosphere under the starry sky was something we’ll never forget! The organization of the trip was excellent, everything was well-planned, and we felt taken care of the entire time. The food was delicious, with big portions at an affordable price – a great bonus! We did this trip with two toddlers, and it was absolutely manageable. The guides were helpful, and the experience was kid-friendly, making it perfect for families looking for an adventure. We highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Morocco – an unforgettable experience that is worth every moment!

Instagram vs Reality 😬

Jayne_S, Oct 2024
I never leave a poor review as I don’t want to damage a business, but I do think all potential bookers need to be informed about the ‘Instagram vs reality’ that we experienced on this “luxury” tour. Now, I want to start by saying that I’m pretty sure this tour package that you buy, ends up getting taken over by one of a number of tour companies on the ground who take you around and it’s a bit of a luck of the draw. Another couple booked through Get Your Guide, another through their hotel… I think we were unlucky with the tour company we were allocated who did an “if Wish did this tour” version of what we were sold. So I can’t say “don’t book this package” because you may be absolutely fine as the reviews will tell you. We were just unlucky I think! We were picked up by “𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐬 a 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬” and were the only English speaking couple in a bus of Spanish natives. We did book only about a week before going, so I’m not sure if that was all that was left, or whether everyone ends up in the same position. I’ll try to summarise the positives and negatives: 1. We were picked up on time by a Spanish tour guide ✅ got onto a minibus with his driver that had a suffocating B.O problem. ❌ we stopped a few more times to pick up more tourists and then the tour guide left the minibus to get on another one, and left us for the 3 days with the driver who, bless him, was not a tour guide and didn’t speak English or Spanish so we had no communication about what we were doing, where we were going, how long until our next stop, how long to spend at each stop ❌. Not his fault, but having a tour guide to ask questions to makes a huge difference. The minibus was full, so I think they valued selling that extra seat and sacrificing space for a guide. But with a guide, a lot of issues would have been sorted. 2. The a/c wasn’t very efficient. He wouldn’t turn on the ones above our heads, only the big ones at the front. ❌ 3. We made stops at beautiful photo spots on the way ✅ but I don’t think they’re unique to this tour. There were always other minibuses there. 4. The lunch spots they take you to are over priced and not great quality. (Around double prices in Marrakesh) Many reviewers recommend you go to the restaurant next door instead, but these places were always out in the sticks so we were force to eat in these places. ❌ 5. The hotel on the first night in Dades Canyon…. ❌❌❌❌ we dropped off one couple at one hotel, then a group of 4 in another hotel, then us two couples (us and the other couple who booked through GYG) at a different hotel - so we were all clearly on different tours. We stayed at Canyon Dades Hotel or something. The room had a shower curtain for a bathroom door ❌ then they served some of the worst prison slop I’ve ever seen for dinner ❌ and then we had the aftermath of said prison slop when we got back to the room, with only a shower curtain and no air con to help us escape the issue 😂 it was like faulty towers. Again, zero communication there. Just dropped off with no explanation other than to be ready for pick up in the morning. Next morning we clearly swerved the breakfast. Then waited for the driver to take us towards Todra Gorge and then to the desert. Both beautiful locations ✅ but again, not unique to this exact tour. We stopped at a carpet making cooperative which wasn’t mentioned but was a nice surprise. We had a tour guide who met us there called Hassan and he was amazing. Spoke fluent English, French, Spanish and even Japanese and just repeated the tour in all languages for all of us. He was incredible ✅✅✅✅ Once we got closer to the desert, it was the same thing again, dropping off one couple in one place, the group of four elsewhere, etc. then us last. No communication again, just dropped off at a camel centre with no explanation. ❌ We were the last group of hundreds of camel riders to go out. So our view of the desert was tourists like ants everywhere. ❌❌❌ not what I’d pictured about seeing these gorgeous sand dunes. Instead they were covered in footprints and tyre tracks and people. Not great. ❌ Our guide on the camels also didn’t speak a word to us throughout so it was a bit weird. ❌ The he pointed to tell us to go Sand boarding which was the main thing I was looking forward to. And when we trekked over there, the board didn’t have feet straps so you were only allowed to sit on your bottom to go down. Was very anticlimactic. ❌ huge disappointment for me. Again, not a word of communication so we just kept wandering trying to find a quiet area without so many people. Eventually found a place to watch the sunset which was beautiful ✅ but I can’t exactly credit the tour company there. Then the desert camp drop off was similar, just dropped us there with no explanation. ❌ luckily we saw our bags piled up there so assumed we were in the right place. The luxury tents were very nicely decorated and have everything you’d need: shower, toilet, toiletries, even air con! ✅✅✅ The camp food - OH DEAR. ❌❌❌❌ we couldn’t even smell the food it’s was that bad. And we are not fussy eaters in the slightest. The chicken was off, the vegetables smelled like bad breath somehow??? ❌ It was bizarre! Ended up having a yoghurt and a banana and went to bed. The next morning you get an offer to pay for a sunrise quad ride back to the minibus which we took. That was epic. Was €50 for 2 people so not too extortionate. ✅ During the quad ride, two women in front of us veered off the sand dune and toppled their quad which ended up landing on top of them and pinning their bodies underneath. The quad instructors were teenage at best, so couldn’t lift the quad off the women. My boyfriend had to go down the dune and single handedly lift the quad off the girls so they could get out. The two instructors didn’t even ask if they were okay, they only checked damage to the quad. ❌❌❌ they never thanked him or anything. Was just really weird. Then we all just carried on as if nothing happened with the women then riding with an instructor each and leaving their quad behind. All baggage is driven back to the pick up point while you go back on camels or quads and it’s just a free for all for people to pick up their luggage. Our bag zip was undone on the back pocket where we kept our wallets and passports. ❌ nothing appeared to be missing, but it was very worrying nonetheless. You then leave to come home and it was much of the same. Lunch stop on the last day was a buffet again but was nice food. Only 12€ for your meal and a small drink which is expensive for Morocco but we oiled plates high! All in all, this tour is a big risk. Many others seemed to have had a great experience so I think it’s luck of the draw. Maybe try booking direct with a tour company so you get reassurance about the provider you’ll be allocated?

Marrakech to Sahara

Laura_M, Jan 2024
Fabulous 3 day trip from Marrakech to Sahara. Saw so many amazing sights and had great photo opportunities along the way. Frequent stops made long trip very easy. Amhad guided us each step of way, was very informative about sights and local culture. Always checking to see if we were happy with experience. lunch stops all reasonably priced and food was delicious. Camel ride to camp was a must do while visiting Morocco. Fire and music at desert camp was a highlight. Sunset and sunrise were spectacular. ATV ride was extra $ but well worth the experience. Whole family had an amazing time. Five stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really liked the tour,...

Tupee_D, Jun 2023
I really liked the tour, i felt it was well organised. The staf were very kind and friendly. They always check up on you, ask if you are okay and your reservation is up to liking. The food was also really good. Just a tip for my black sisters, when you book your tour, insist to be in a group with only english speaking people. Or you are going to be stuck on a bus for 3 days when a group of racist European travellers who think because you are black you dont understand their language, they will disrepect the hell out you. Other then that i really liked this trip and the staf. A must when in Marrakech.

Vanessa_G, Jun 2025
Beautiful excursions with lots of stops on the first day in beautiful tourist sites. The second day we arrived at the gates of the desert at the end of the day, camel to the camp, dinner served very fast with very little choice of food. Luxury tents are comfortable. 3rd day get up at 5am and return to the camel cars, so very short stay in the desert. We travel with 3 children aged 4, 7 and 10, it is possible with young children provided they are patient because the road is long. Nice driver, comfortable car. To do if you want to see a lot in a short time aïs with nice whoop of ride.

Tanta strada verso il sud del Marocco

patrizia_p, May 2025

Sahara Tour 2024

Anastasia_D, May 2024

Response from Host, May 2024

Vielen Dank.

Bellissimo tour in Marocco

Lorenzo_J, May 2023
