Overall experience (not museums) was exceptional thanks to our driver, Ahmad Abdella! (Due to Eid he was actually our driver and an Egyptologist—boy did we hit the jackpot there!) This booking does not include Egyptologist—listing is a bit confusing!)
We are very much into history and he went above and beyond to truly share his passion for Luxor! His English was perfect, which made for very pleasant conversation. (Out of 8 guided tours with different Egyptologists, he was by far the best.) Sad we couldn’t have had him with us to guide all around Luxor! For any experience you book, your Egyptologist will make/break your experience.
While in the museum, he went in with us to elaborate on certain must see objects we might have otherwise missed.
To be honest, if you have already seen other local tombs/temples, you might be disappointed with experience overall. Very small museums, (mummy museum is one room) but were interesting!
Save yourself some money, and do driver only because you can just buy ticket at museum and save there. Having a driver was helpful since so many locals will pester you!)
Overall, try and request Ahmad Abdella if possible for an unforgettable experience. (Egyptologists here are contract workers and work for all the booking companies—who you get is completely random, but if you can request or locate him, totally worth it! (If you feel compelled to book him, message me and I can get you contact info!)
Truly I never write long reviews, but wanted to express how great he made the experience—he stopped and got us water and homemade sugarcane juice and gave us a tour of the city sharing his love for his country!
Luxor Museum and Mummy Museum might not actually be worth it to be honest, but wanted to give 5 stars due to experience. Thanks Ahmad and will 100% book with you if we ever return!
