A great introduction to ancient Peru

We booked this half-day tour on Thursday and it was a perfect first taste of Peru's ancient cultures. The route took us to the Huaca Pucllana adobe pyramid in Miraflores and then on to the Larco Museum — two very different sites that complement each other beautifully. Our driver Victor navigated Lima's horrendous traffic calmly and safely, which is no small feat. But the real highlight was our guide Mario. His explanations were lively and vivid, and you can tell he is genuinely passionate about what he does. He made the pre-Columbian cultures come alive rather than just reciting dates. Highly recommended if you want a solid, engaging introduction to Peru's ancient history without giving up a whole day.
