Such a lovely way of seeing Kyoto! Maki took as through the beautiful streets of Kyoto, stopping at a couple of shrines and temples, including Fushimi Inari Taisha.

Maki was so great! She put together a very thoughtful tour and was really great about guiding us around the crowds to take good pictures. We had a rainy day and she navigated well so we were still informed but weren’t standing in the rain. She was super informative and so sweet, we learned a ton about Japanese culture and history. We also covered a ton of ground in the city and saw a lot of sights, and the back street riding allowed us to get a feel for Kyoto daily living. We highly recommend!!

I only had a couple days in Kyoto and this was the perfect tour to be able to see and learn a lot in a short time. The host was amazing - very kind and knowledgeable. The bikes were really nice and easy to use. Highly recommend!!

The Kyoto bike tour was exceptional! We rode on big streets, small side streets, and scenic bike paths on comfortable e-assist bikes that were equipped with baskets (handy for backpacks or jackets). Maki was fun and personable, and we covered a lot of ground without feeling rushed. She shared a lot about Japanese culture and the areas that we visited. I’ve done bike tours in different cities/countries, and this was my favorite; just a nice mix of scenic riding, visiting sites, and interesting conversation. Also, a big plus supporting a woman-owned and operated small business!

Take this tour if you want to experience the rich history of Kyoto. Our guide Mika grew up in Kyoto and was able to share both her personal experiences as well as communicate in perfect English the incredible history of this region. An ebike is a great way to get around this city and see the many sights it has to offer.

Maki, the owner and guide led us on good quality bikes around some great sites. She was informative and added a lot by telling us about her own personal experiences. We cycled along quiet back streets and by the river, very rarely coming across much traffic so we felt very safe despite being in a bustling city. She took lots of photos for us using her knowledge to find good photo spots. She was very generous with her time. A lovely morning!

Great bicycle tour. I highly recommend it. Maki, our guide, shared lots of interesting history, customs, and culture about Japan. We went to off the beaten path places and rode in areas that tourists wouldn't go, like along a river and down narrow alleys. Excellent value, too!

Maki-san was hands down the best tour guide we’ve had thus far. The E-bike ride through Kyoto and tour guide explanations of the rich history was superb! With Kyoto being mostly flat roads and E-bike assistance, it was not as tiring as we thought. Maki-san went above and beyond in keeping our family comfortable in the sweltering August heat. She provided water, rest stops and cooling body sprays at no additional charge. She also took time to let our sons experience some fortune telling at the shrines. One out of the three got really good luck so I how it sticks. We highly recommend you book this tour with Maki the next time you’re in Kyoto. You won’t regret it!!!

I enjoyed the ride, despite the brutal heat. My favorite part was riding through the neighborhoods of homes and along the river. The ride was easy on an electric bike. Very few hills.
Bring plenty of water during the summer months. An electrolyte drink is also recommended. We did stop at the convenience store to get an electrolyte drink and additional water.

Great E bike tour around the historic areas of Kyoto. We received a lot of information and history of the shrines, temples and Geisha. It was especially nice to go to some lesser traveled spots to be able to enjoy without the huge crowds that seem to be everywhere in Kyoto. And of course the E bike and the ride along the river was icing on the cake. Two thumbs up!

Maki was such an awesome guide. She was attentive and informative with Japanese history, and spoke excellent English with wonderful humor! She also gave us so many cultural insights. She thought of every detail, including water for everyone at the beginning of our E-bike tour and a little treat toward the end. The end with the ride along the river was beautiful. The ebikes were very comfortable and had plenty of power.

We completed a 6-star tournament with Maki san. The pace was easy on ebike, and the 2 of us were the only individuals in that particular outing. We were educated concerning the training of Maiko and Geisha. We visited several shrines, temple, historical landmarks. For us, the historical and cultural context she provided helped us remember the significance of these structures and provided some insight into Japanese culture. We also had time to look around each site. Maki san also illustrated Buddhist and shintoist traditions and cultural practices in the context of her own life experiences and explained why it was taboo to pass food directly between 2 people using chopsticks and why there could exist a museum dedicated to the subject of poop in Odaliba. Her frequent and routine use of hand signals while biking illustrsted her commitment to safety for both herself and for her customers. By asking for our feedback throughout the tour, she could adjust the itinerary to personalize our tour. I was initially leery of bike tours in general because of some negative comments made concerning the guides of OTHER tour operators; however Maki san is the owner and currently only guide of her tour service; hence she is able to maintain a high level of quality for her tours. Of all the people we could have encountered, we were very fortunate that our pathway in life intersected hers. For that, we are thankful to the Kami.

We had a wonderful time with Maki on today’s e-biking tour. We learned a lot from her about the rich culture, history and traditions of Japan. We also enjoyed an elaborate tour of various neighborhoods of beautiful Kyoto, and visited several shrines and temples in the area. Maki was very knowledgeable and helpful during our more than four hour time on the tour. We had a fantastic body, mind and soul enrichment. I highly recommend this tour with Maki.
