Had such a great time at Fizah’s Malaysian cooking class! She was super lovely and a really great teacher - made everything easy to follow and fun. I felt so welcome in her home, and she was really thoughtful about my allergies, which meant a lot. The food was amazing, and the whole experience felt really personal and relaxed. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try something local and hands-on!

Amazing Experience! Fizah was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and it was an experience I would highly recommend to anyone interested in food, culture and trying something new. Fizah was extremely knowledgeable and explained every step of the process as we prepared our man meal and dessert. All the ingredients were fresh and the end result amazing for two first time Malay cooks. Definitely worth a try!

It was great fun and I learned a lot. Fizah is a great teacher and so knowledgeable. All meals cooked from scratch which I love. And super tasty. My only regret is that I’m not in Kuala Lumpur longer so that I can attend another class. Next time.,…..

Fizah and her husband graciously welcomed us in to their home for this experience. It was very hands on and we learned about Malaysian food, traditions and culture. Fizah showed us how best to prepare each component of the curry laksa dish, answered all questions we had about how to obtain the ingredients back in the US, and even how to freeze the sauce to use for later. She also gave us the recipe for curry laksa and the dessert we made.

My 3 hour cooking class finished in less than 2 hours. We only prepared one dish. And even then the host had prepared the condiments ahead of time. I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED that we did not learn more and only cooked a simple one dish meal.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that you felt disappointed with the experience.
To clarify, during the session we prepared one main Malaysian dish together as well as one traditional Malaysian dessert. Some ingredients and condiments are pre prepared in advance to ensure food safety and to allow us to focus more on cooking techniques, flavors, and hands-on experience within the scheduled time.
The class is designed to be approximately 3 hours, but depending on the pace of participants and group size, it may sometimes finish slightly earlier.
I truly value all feedback and will continue improving the experience to make sure future guests leave feeling satisfied and happy. Thank you again for joining the class.

It was a hands on experience which is what we were hoping for. While you dont have your own cooking station, you each have a station to cut and prepare and then the cooking part is shared. Sitting and eating together afterwards we learnt so much about Fizah and Malay culture and food . Fizah is a great teacher and host. The overall experience was totally worth it !

Fizah’s class is probably the best cooking class I’ve been to! Firstly, I’d commend how accommodating she is. I booked my class 3 hours prior, and she was kind enough to accommodate me despite short notice. Secondly, she’s a great teacher! I really learned a lot—not only how to cook, but also about Malaysian culture, customs, and values. Thirdly, her ingredients are fresh! We made the curry paste from scratch. Her recipes also has some personal twists, which makes cooking more exciting! Love the experience overall.

We thoroughly enjoyed Fizah’s class. It was very hands on with good explanation and instruction , making it possible to replicate the dishes at home. The food was delicious and the ambience was relaxed and comfortable. We would highly recommend this class.

We had a very nice time cooking with Fizah in her home. The day before our scheduled session, she sent us a note with several options we could select from to cook. We chose Mee Goreng and Kuih Gula Melaka. Both turned out excellent, and although my wife and I are avid cooks, we learned an a few things about cooking Malaysian foods. Our session lasted two hours.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Malaysia Cooking Classes With Local run by Fizah in Kuala Lumpur. The class is set in a relaxed, casual environment and offers a truly personal touch, with small groups of up to four people—perfect for a more hands-on experience.
We were given the option to choose from four traditional main dishes and four local desserts. On the day, we cooked Koew Teaw Goreng, a delicious stir-fried noodle dish, and for dessert, we made the beautiful Kuih Ketayap, a pandan-flavoured crepe filled with sweet coconut. Both dishes were fun to make and even better to eat!
The class lasts around three hours, making it a great way to spend a part of your day in Malaysia, learning about local ingredients and cooking techniques. Fizah is warm, friendly, and an excellent teacher who makes the whole experience enjoyable and memorable.
You can book through Viator at a very reasonable price—highly recommended for food lovers looking to explore Malaysian cuisine in an authentic and fun way!

Fizah’s cooking class was amazing! Everything was so well prepared and she walked us through every step whilst we were cooking. We chose to make Nasi Lemak and Kuih Ketayap and they both came out so delicious and very filling. The class was very engaging and felt really comfortable and welcomed in her home. The communication was also great in the lead up to the class. We had a really nice time at the end whilst eating our meal and met Fizah’s husband and they both gave us lots of great travel tips!Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cooking class in KL!

This was a wonderful few hours spent with Fizah. Fizah welcomed me into her beautiful home for an authentic experience. Fizah was organised for the class and very patient with all the questions I had. I learnt a lot of techniques that I can take and try back home. I loved that when we were doing certain steps, Fizah would tell me how her mum taught her to do certain things. The best part was really getting to know Fizah and her partner, Roman, as we shared what we had cooked. Fizah also gave me lots of great advice re how to spend time in Malaysia and I'll definitely be back to spend more time here. We spoke about Malaysian culture, too. All in all, it was a wonderful day that gave me lots of special memories. This really is the authentic, in-house cultural experience you must try while in Malaysia.
