This was an absolutely amazing street food tour. Our guide, Malik, was fabulous. He made sure that we understood exactly what we were tasting to ensure we had the most appropriate palate experience. It was fun, it was delicious and we gained a wonderful appreciation of true Malaysian food. Don’t hesitate to book this tour, you will love it. One piece of advice, go with a very healthy appetite.

This tour is highly recommended. We only had one full day in Malaysia and as we wanted to sample a variety of Malaysian street food this was an ideal tour for us. We were just a group of three and therefore had great service and attention from Malik who knows all the best places for street food in KL. as well as Malaysian burgers, Satay dishes, lemon tea, wan ton, fried plantain, sambol (several types), durian and other exotic fruits - finishing with a restaurant meal of nasi lemang and chicken. It was all delicious and Malik knows his stuff. Don’t miss this tour - one of the best things we did in Kuala

This experience is pure authentic Malaysian food from reputable street food vendors just the way to indulge in the truly culture of Malaysia. Malik took us through the streets tasting lots of delicious food (deserts, satay, drinks, fruits and the must try for everyone visiting Malaysia, Dorian. Malik gave us excellent education about the city, people and the foods origination and most of all the full knowledge of the national fruit Dorian and how you should eat it:). Very knowledgeable and kind young gentleman:).

Just finished this tour. Mixed group of 8 and a really nice friendly bunch. Malik walks quickly in order to get so much food in! An amazing array from savoury to sweet, different fruits, unusual drinks and you leave absolutely stuffed! Gave us a real insight into where the locals eat and will give us confidence to explore ourselves.

Don’t hesitate. Book this tour asap if you like eating tasty food with a local guide in a local area. There were so many small bites as we explored the area that ended with a large meal. Malik was so knowledgeable as he grew up in the area. I would book it again easily if I ever go back to KL.

There was a lot of food! I was worried there would be lots of fish dishes, but there wasn't. The meals were a good mixture of snacks, mains and desserts. Some local drinks also. Malik also told us about the local area and culture. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. It was well worth the money. You must try the Durian!!!

Just what a food tour should be. We were guided around an area of KL that was off the tourist track. Got to sample all sorts of local delicacies and learnt a lot about KL. Malik was great.

Fantastic array of foods. Tried some new fruit to me. Also lots of savoury dishes which we both enjoyed. Loved the Thai burger. The area was such a contrast to the modern skyscrapers. A bit of real KL. Malik certainly knew where to take us for our tastings

Although we managed to start of in a torrential downpour, out guide made sure everyone had a brolly. He was very attentive to our needs and tuned in to our needs.
Malik made a point of letting us know he had chosen the best stalls and all his personal favourites. I wasn't disappointed.
We had a miasma of flavours, textures, smell and colours. Thoroughly enjoyed everything whilst getting to know others in the group in a relaxed way as we shared our common interest.

Great street food experience with Malik who was very chatty and personable. He was very knowledgeable about the foods we tried and was very good at explaining about the various foods and their ingredients, he obviously is passionate about what he does. He also told a lot of the history of the area we were in and about the foods we ate.
There was a lot of food on this tour!!
I would recommend this tour to everyone especially if you've not be to Malaysia before.

This food tour was an incredible experience from start to finish, and Malik truly made it unforgettable. He was very informative, sharing the history, stories, and culture behind both the food and the places we visited. It added so much depth to every stop and made the experience feel meaningful, not just delicious. The food was amazing. After every stop, I kept thinking, “There’s no way anything can top that,” but somehow it just kept getting better and better. Each dish was unique, flavorful, and memorable. Definitely come hungry because the portions are generous and absolutely worth it. This tour is a perfect mix of incredible food, fascinating history, and an outstanding guide. Highly recommend!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked this tour, but it was truly one of the best experiences I've ever had. The walking tour took us through authentic streets in Kuala Lumpur, where the focus was on local flavors. The food was delicious and truly authentic, clearly prepared with care and passion. We sampled a wonderful variety, from beef burgers to grilled chicken and lamb with different sauces, local tea, fried bananas, fruits, and much more (+15 types).
However, the true highlight was Malik, our guide. His knowledge and enthusiasm transformed the entire journey, providing insights I hadn't anticipated. I highly recommend Malik for anyone looking for an exceptional culinary adventure!

The tour was a great experience. Malik was knowledgeable about Kampung Baru, the neighbourhood we toured, and offered plenty of delicious eats. He was great with portioning, which can be a challenge with food tours because travellers tend to stuff themselves during the first few stops. However, our guide ordered the right amount at every stop and purchased extra food when we enjoyed specific locations.

Fantastic experience with Malik, who is clearly passionate about showing others the beauty and taste of Malay cuisine! We had plenty to eat during our multiple stops in Kampang Buru, the last remaining Malay village in the city of KL. Malik brought us to try a variety of authentic Malay bites at places the locals go!

I had such a great evening trying out the various food and talking to Malik! Please only have a light lunch as you gonna eat until it hurts 😅
Malik showed me around his neighbourhood Kapung Baru, an area where not a lot of tourists end up and we went from one food stand to another. I liked the mixture of savoury and sweet and also trying out different fruits!
The tour is also highly recommendable to vegetarians. If you are vegan- ask Malik if he can arrange something for you.

Excellent food tour! Malik was great interacting with the small group to make this a fun and knowledgable tour with exceptional food. Took us to local food restaurants and markets off-the beaten track and tried 10-15 different food and drink items from meats, soups, juices, desserts and more.
More than enough food to go around and would definitely recommend.

Reasons to go on this tour:
1. Lesser known neighborhood with many good food options, especially Malay food! However many vendors don't speak English very well so a guide is very appreciated here.
2. Malik is the tour guide for this event (I think the only one) - so unlike a company where you are not sure who you will get, you will get Malik and he is great!
3. We were in a group so we ordered many, many (so many) dishes and split them instead of individual portions where you might get too full. Malik seems to know the vendors on the route and can get the perfect portion sizes.
4. Malik is a local and knows the best foods that locals enjoy.

This was an amazing tour through the Kampung Baru section of Kuala Lumpur. It’s not a section that you’ll find many listings in the various apps, which made the tour that much better.
The guide, Malik, is a fantastic guide with an extreme amount of love for the local cuisine. He is extremely knowledgeable about all the aspects of the local Malaysian street food, the area and gave us a great glimpse into the lives of the local residents. He was gracious and really looked out for each of us, loaning us umbrellas and making sure we understood the rules of the road.
The three of us joined to make a group of 7, and what a fun group it was. A special shout out to our Tanzanian friends who were so much fun, we’re adding Tanzania to our bucket list.
Last, the food. It was a lot of food. As someone that loves to eat, it was a lot. But so, so good. Malik explained each food, what it was, how it was made and the history behind it. Some of my highlights were the Ramly burger, both varieties of fried bananas, the Mee Ayam soup, the mango smoothie, fresh fruits, and the Nasi Lemak. We even got to try durian, which turned out to pretty good.
The tour ended with a walk over to the Petronus towers.
Enough can’t be said of Malik, who made us feel welcome, was patient with all of our questions and ran a fabulous tour.
If you’re a picky eater, this is not the tour for you. But if you’re willing to try the amazing food, why aren’t you on this tour already?

I highly recommend this food tour around the streets of KL. It was a fantastic way to experience the city’s food culture. Our guide, Malik, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing not only the history behind each of his favourite dishes but also insights into local life. We had a fantastic experience tasting and learning about Malaysian cuisine on this tour! Malik is an excellent, local guide, who shares his love for food with you by taking you to gems in Kampung Baru, a village that's held to its traditions while the city has evolved around it.
The list of foods you'll try is too long to list here, and you'll surely be full by the end - everything we tried was delicious and we learned lots thanks to Malik. We cannot recommend this tour enough. It's a must-do activity in Kuala Lumpur.
