Sake tasting, but quite commercialized, more for big tour groups.

Olfert_d, Mar 2026
Nice tour of some sake breweries. But don’t expect an experience like wine tasting in France. The breweries are quite commercial, and the tasting is automated with coins for select sakes and little explanation. Our guide was flexible and showed is the downtown sighs as well.

A must do when you are in Kobe!

We had such a good time touring with our very knowledgable guide Norio. We visited 2 breweries (and one excellent museum) and he took us through all the different steps of making sake and explained us why/how Kobe still today produces very high quality sakes. Norio also showed us a very local market with fresh produce, meat, fish and lots of snacks. No tourists around ! Be prepared for a long walk ;-) Spring and autumn are probably a better time than summer.

Excellent Experience!

This tour was fabulous! I absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in the history and creation of Sake. Take this tour with Norio, he was amazing!!

Not fun and not really as described. Admit the Sake Brewery museum was interesting. We thought tour would be more like a food tour only with sake stops instead of food stops. Turned out our guide doesn’t even like sake. So that lack of enthusiasm on guide’s part surely contributed to the blah experience.

Kobe Sightseeing Experience

My friends and I enjoyed this so much. Our Tomoko was so fun and extremely knowledgeable on Kobe. She was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. The amount of effort she put in to give us a good time was incredible. She also reserved an amazing Kobe beef lunch for us! If you ever have the chance to come to Kobe or Kyoto ask for Tomoko. You won’t regret it!

A Memorable Sake Brewery and Cultural Tour in Kobe

JunLin_O, Oct 2024
I had an incredible experience on the Sake Brewery and Japanese Life Experience Tour in Kobe, guided by the wonderful Tomoko-san. From start to finish, the tour was a delightful blend of culture, history, and culinary exploration. Tomoko-san's friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge about Japanese culture and history truly enriched the experience. She didn't just focus on the specific area we visited but shared fascinating insights about various aspects of Japanese life as we walked to and from the brewery. Her storytelling made the journey as interesting as the destination itself. As a foodie, I was thrilled that Tomoko-san introduced me to some fantastic food spots along the way. Each stop was thoughtfully chosen, allowing me to savor authentic local flavors that I might not have discovered on my own. While the tour is a bit pricey, the quality of the experience more than justifies the cost. I learned so much and tasted incredible food, all while being guided by someone as passionate and knowledgeable as Tomoko-san. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kobe who wants a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and a memorable culinary adventure.

Fantastic guide

WOW! Our guide Tomoko was fantastic and couldn’t recommend highly enough. The sake tour in Kobe was an absolute delight. From the moment we stepped into the traditional sake brewery, I was captivated by the rich history and craftsmanship that went into every bottle. Our knowledgeable guide, a local expert, shared fascinating insights into the sake-making process, explaining the intricate techniques involved in producing this beloved Japanese beverage. We had the opportunity to taste a variety of sakes, each with its own unique flavor profile. Tomoko recommended the plum wine, it’s great!
