Our art studio is located in Sultanahmet and is on the 3rd floor. Please note there is no elevator access and may be difficult for elderly and persons with disabilities. Just 2 minutes away from the Topkapi Palace. We have the best view of the Bosphorus

Ali was an incredibly warm and friendly host, with excellent English and very good with my kids (aged 7-13). A fantastic, authentic experience with lots of brilliant artworks to take home. Our family agreed this was the best thing we’d done in Istanbul and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommended it!

I love a crafting class and this place was just around the corner from my hotel. A cozy studio with a great view and patient, generous instructors. Betül is ìstanbullu hospitality personified and a talented artist and teacher. She obviously loves her craft and sharing it with people. I honestly felt like I was hanging with a crafting friend I'd known forever. Thank you so much for a great afternoon!

This was so much fun. Betel is a master ebru and tile artist. She was so knowledgeable and kind. She spent a lot of time teaching me and my 6yo daughter the different techniques and guiding us as we made our own Ebru marbling art. The studio is also in a beautiful location. Such a fantastic activity and you come away with a unique, self-made souvenir. My daughter absolutely loved every second and was so proud of what she made!

This was hands-down our favorite experience in Istanbul! Betül - the artist - was so kind, patient, hospitable and her art studio has stunning views. We are a hard crowd to please - one artist, one non-artist and a 6 year old and we ALL had so much fun and really enjoyed this Ebru art workshop. 10/10 recommend for artists, non-artists and kids!!!

Wonderful morning spent with this husband and wife team who educated us on marbling art technique and history. They were perfect with my children aged 7 and 9 showing the right balance between fun, encouragement, support and patience. We could not have asked for more and walked away with some wonderful designs to display at home, and many happy memories. The best experience we have had in Istanbul.

Great experience. I highly recommend to anyone on the fence. They show you the basics then you get to take over. There is no talent required. Your art will still be refrigerator worthy with their guidance. Very patient and amusing instruction and good hibiscus tea!

What a great experience! Highlight of our trip! We booked the Turkish Marbling class and it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Our kids (4 and 6) loved learning how to make the designs and Betul and her husband were so helpful and kind with them. We each learned how to make 4 to 5 different design techniques, each unique! Best of all, you get to take your art home!

The paper marbling class was one of the highlights of our trip to Istanbul. Highly recommend as a great memory-making activity for families. My husband and I thought it was a fun experience and our 10 year-old son deemed it “really cool.” The instructor, Betul, was amazing and the staff was helpful and courteous.! I can’t wait to return home and have a few of our pieces framed. If you are looking for a unique experience in Istanbul, this traditional art making class is it.

We couldn't have had more fun making marble paper (Ebru). The children, aged 9 and 11, kept making masterpiece after masterpiece through out the time we were there. The location next to the Topkapi palace is perfect, as is the view from the top floor. Lovely couple gives expert and encouraging instruction. Highly recommended for all ages - no skill required. Great stress relief!

We had an AMAZING experience! Our instructor Betul was the best teacher, very patient and informative and gave us opportunities to make plenty of art. All of our marbling papers came out wonderfully. I 1000% recommend this workshop for everyone who want an wonderful opportunity and learn a new craft.

As a frequent traveler, this is one of the best experiences I’ve ever enjoyed. Yes, yes we learned about Marbling. However, more importantly my daughter and I made memories, and that is the true meaning of travel and exploring this planet.

I don't know where to start because this should really have 10 stars.
The atmosphere is amazing, you are welcomed in a 100 year old traditional Turkish home, the last 2 floors are the art studio and the terrace, both graceful and furnished with superb taste. You also get a magnificent wiev on Tokpapi palace and the bosphorous Channel. You are greeted with tea of course and then you get a full immersion in the Ebru art... We were able to paint at least 7/8 sheets! We literally could not stop. Our teacher (who owns the place) is a lovely woman with lots of patience, she went above and beyond to make my mom's birthday unforgettable!
We will proudly show our art to friends and family and give the paintings away as Xmas gifts. This is a memory I will always cherish.

This art session was a once in a lifetime chance to learn from art experts in creating unique works of art using an extraordinary form of color transfer. It was fun for all participants and we each created 3 to 4 works of art that we can take home. If you're ever in the old section of Istanbul make arrangements to do this activity. Be prepared to be amazed.

What a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon in Istanbul with our awesome teachers Betül and Ali. We learned so many techniques to marble paper and our teachers were friendly and helpful. We would have liked to spend the whole week taking classes from Betül! The location is amazing and after we went to pick up our paper, Ali showed us the Istanbul skyline from the top floor terrace while we enjoyed a sunny day. Make sure you leave some time in your Istanbul itinerary for a peaceful afternoon of making art! Thank you Betül and Ali for a perfect afternoon!

Run by a family of artists and designers who have dedicated their talents to sharing the traditional art of marbling paper (erbu), this is a soul enriching experience that should not be missed. Betül and Ali are warm and patient teachers, and provide excellent instruction on the tools and techniques of this beautiful traditional art. The studio is charming, well equipped, and easy to find. My afternoon with them is truly one of my most memorable experiences, and I am grateful for the chance to learn from two passionate practitioners whom I now count as friends.

Such an awesome experience! Ali is super knowledgeable, kind and patient with his instruction. I made several pages that I'm going to frame and several more that I already have ideas how to use in other projects. A beautiful way to get in touch with Turkish culture that's currently being used but is grounded in history.

I highly recommend this class for anyone visiting Istanbul and wanting to learn about traditional art from a local artist. Betul and her husband Ali have a beautiful art studio and were great teachers and hosts. My daughters loved this class and enjoyed every minute of it.

This.was.amazing!!! What an incredible experience with awesome people. I'm so glad I booked this because it was like watching (and making) magic from a very old time.
The location is great, close to all the attractions in the old city; the duration of the class gives you time to try and learn a bunch of different techniques and do different designs and Betul and her husband were simply amazing 😍 I look forward to come back and do their ceramic class as well.
Treat yourself and go ahead, plus you will take your masterpieces as souvenir from your visit to Turkey!

I highly recommend you add a marbling class to your Istanbul itinerary. Ali and Betul are incredible artists and teachers, and I guarantee you will be greeted with the warmest smiles and have incredible conversation (and laugh A LOT!). I found marbling to be extremely relaxing and very beginner friendly.
All in all, I'd say this experience was a highlight of my trip to Turkey and of my travels so far. I have taken art classes while adventuring in 10 countriesand this was my favorite. In fact, I enjoyed my time with Ali and Betul so much that I decided to do one of their bookbinding workshops as well (scheduled for later in my trip). I'm looking forward to showing my pieces off when I get back to the States.

This workshop was a great way to spend an afternoon in Istanbul! The instructors were so warm and welcoming, and they made paper marbling so fun and accessible (even for someone with no artisitic skills!). Spending a few hours in their beautiful workshop was a peaceful break from the city and we loved hearing their stories about art and about Turkey. We came home with personal, unique pieces of art to remember the city and would recommend this as a something off the typical tourist path.

This was unforgettable! The class was a private one scheduled for two hours;we wound up staying an extra hour and painting more and learning from her. It was such a unique experience to learn about Turkish Ebru from a master! Having more than 20 yrs experience, passion for teaching others and sharing stories. We painted 4 each, then one together. I can't recommend this enough!

I took Betul's marbling paper art workshop during a busy day in the Sultanamet district of Istanbul. The art class was a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of Istanbul that I could have spent the whole day there! Betul is a wonderful teacher and was a generous host. She offered me water, tea, coffee and a dessert!!! She is an artist herself, having studied fine art at the Istanbul University, and is a wonderful and patient teacher. I recommend everyone to take her class! I will be back again, next time with my children!

Ali was incredible. If you are looking for a change from admiring Turkish arts to trying out yourself and learning something new in a few hours, a must lesson in Ebru (Marbling Paper) with Ali. You will learn about Ebru Art, the materials, traditional designs used in marbling as well as techniques like stone, back and forth, comb design, and flowers - tulip, poppies, etc. Ali is dedicated and patient teacher. You will also get a chance to bring pieces you create with you home. Loved the experience!
