Old town is walking only - no cars allowed.

Cars are not allowed in the old town so our driver just dropped us off and left us for the entire day. The company didn’t tell us in advance that this is the situation even though they knew our plans to go to the old town. I would have never booked a private car if I knew this information! I also told them that my parents were elderly and couldn’t walk much so this is even more disappointing that they didn’t care. You don’t need a private car. Just take public transportation to the old town. It’s quicker and easier.

Dear Dana, You independently booked a private vehicle with driver through Viator on October 21 at approximately 11 PM, without consulting us or providing an itinerary beforehand. We only learned of your sightseeing plans after contacting you about your last-minute request for a guide, which we arranged. We clearly advised you that walking in the Old City was unavoidable and that visiting all four attractions could be tiring. Your driver picked you up from Galataport as scheduled and remained at your disposal throughout the 7–8-hour reservation. He did not leave or abandon you. The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace are located close together in a pedestrian-restricted area. The fact that you did not require additional journeys does not mean the vehicle and driver were not available. We sincerely regret your parents' discomfort. However, requesting a 50% refund because you later felt the vehicle was unnecessary does not mean our company failed to provide the service you independently booked. Our Driver was amazing and took us to places that we hadn’t thought of visiting and finished with taking us to our hotel near the airport. He was so very obliging and an excellent driver negotiating all those narrow lanes
