Bruce, our guide, was outstanding!!! Great sense of humor, super knowledgeable and lots of fun tidbit facts. We really came away with a better understanding and appreciation of Glasgow. He set a quick, but comfortable pace, which we liked as it enabled us to see and learn so much in the time allotted.

Our guide, Henry Bell was excellent. He communicated clearly. The information he shared was informative and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour and guide.

    Exactly enough

    Amanda_R, Oct 2025
Our guide was fabulous. So smart. Could tell he really loved talking about the history of his city. He had a great humor about him. He filled you in, but wasn’t flowery. Pretty direct which was appreciated. There wasn’t a question he didn’t know. Pace was great. It is 2.5 hours so be prepared to be a good listener. Our walk was a walking tour around Merchant City. And you cover A LOT. Love that included some of the popular murals along the way. If you are staying in the Merchant City area then definitely do this so you can get comfortable with the area around you.

    Great walking tour and guide.

Great overview with some interesting facts. Very knowledgeable guide. Unfortunately, the park square was under construction & we were unable to go into the beautiful church due to a private service. Would still recommend this walking tour.

    Missed Opportunity

    blockbox78misc, Sep 2025
We book tours based on Viator reviews, so feel the need to point out that this is not a 5 star tour. The tour guide is very likeable and approachable, but the structure and the content of the tour need to be dusted off and redone. The first 6 stops on the tour don’t exist because of construction that started 4 months ago and will last for 2 years. But the tour still starts in the same spot. It is clear that there are many overarching themes that the guide could expand on based on his choice of stops (the art scene in Glasgow, the impact of religion from founding through wars to present day, the quirky anti-establishment vein in Glasgow and where that came from, the impact of the slave trade on Glasgow’s finances vs its stand against apartheid, etc), but the guide’s explanations don’t make these links clear. It is a stop based tour (this is the art museum) not a insight tour (Glasgow was named as one of the top cultural cities in the EU because xxxx and the art museum is an example of this). If you want to see Glasgow, this is a good tour. If the guide wants you to understand and embrace Glasgow, he needs to rework the material.

    Gritty Glasgow

Bruce shared some interesting facts particularly about St. Mungo. Also directed us to necropolis for view. Would have liked a little more on architecture.

    Great overview of Glasgow

    Benjamin_D, May 2025
This was a fun and interesting tour. We learned a lot about Glasgow’s history, including some really random fun facts. It would have been better with a smaller group size. We missed things because we couldn’t hear sometimes. I’d rather pay a few more dollars and be in a smaller group (another tour we did the day before was half the size and better for it). Note - this tour doesn’t end back where you started - it ends in an area you’ll likely want to explore, so plan accordingly if you’re doing multiple tours in one day - you’ll want time after this one to explore a bit and then make your way back to the starting point or whatever might be next. Glasgow is a beautiful city and we are so glad we got to learn more about it on this tour!

    Great tour, got to learn...

    Glasgow

    David_W, Feb 2025
Bruce was excellent! He’s very knowledgeable and gave us lots of background information on buildings, statues, and the history of Glasgow. I had never heard of Mungo, and now I know about him, his miracles, and his significance to Glasgow. A real bonus was seeing many of the beautiful street murals during the tour.

Getting the lowdown on a fascinating city's history

    History of Glasgow

    Sherri_D, Jun 2024
Bruce did a great job explaining the history. We kept wondering why we were staying in the square so long but it made sense to learn the history before taking off on the walk.

    Stimulating

    Hans_B, Jun 2024
The enthusiastic reciting of a Robert Burns poem in front of his statue. Great knowledge of the city center

    Stop after George Square

    Dave_R, May 2024
This could’ve been cut much shorter. It could’ve ended in George Square where it started. Guided was fine, an actor so a bit theatrical at time. One member of the group was complete bored after leaving the Square. * At departing time one of the people on tour decided to go in and get a coffee. The tour guide waited for them, almost 5 minutes. It was incredibly rude by the other member of the party. And given that we were in the Square for the next hour or so across from the coffee shop the guide should’ve started without them. Tour was 30 minutes over end time when has to leave before it finished. Guide needs to respect the group

    A walk with a purpose
