This tour was great - just us and the guide, Francois. Good amount of food, some walking and exploring. Come hungry! Marketplace for meats, then Fondue, then hot chocolate and finished with more chocolate!!

We had a great experience with Robert. We visited a food hall for charcuterie, followed by Fondue at a local restaurant, the best hot chocolate we have ever had and of course chocolate. Robert was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our afternoon

Overview

If great food is a key part of your vacation, don’t fall into the trap of eating dishes designed for tourists. This Geneva food tour showcases the city’s beloved local eateries where traditional “fondue moitié-moitié” and quality Swiss chocolates are among the dishes of the day. Even better: Numbers are capped to small groups for a more sociable tour.
  • Enjoy enough food samples to make a full meal as you explore
  • Orient yourself around Geneva old town on a walking tour
  • Visit the indoor market at Halle de Rive and find stalls to revisit
  • Learn about Geneva’s history and culture through its food

Below expectations

John_S, Aug 2026
First stop was at a food hall where we ate our assorted meats off a metal cart on a common platter while clustered around the entry door. Not comfortable or classy. No drinks and we each got a single napkin and toothpick to feed ourselves. Second stop was the highlight with fondue at a lovely little restaurant local wine. Third stop was unique with ~14 varieties of hot chocolate. A little bit odd on a hot day but interesting. Final stop at a chocolatier, we were given exactly 1 chocolate covered almond each! Our guide bought some additional chocolates which he selected for us—so we each got 2 more. Overall less food that described and well below expectations on the experience.

More food than tour and not informational

James_S, Jul 2026
We have been on food tours in various cities in Europe, and, unfortunately, this one was not up to par with the others. In this tour, our guide essentially brought us to different places to try different foods as usual/as expected with a food tour, but did not provide much information about the food itself. When we would go to a place, the guide would be silent unless we asked questions. For example, when taken to a Fondue restaurant, after some silence I had to ask the tour guide what the origin of fondue was. The guide then happily shared the origin which was quite interesting but I do not feel that I should have to ask when I am paying someone to share their expertise about the food and area.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations, especially since you have enjoyed food tours in other European cities. After reading your review, we spoke carefully with your guide to better understand your experience. She told us that she made a point of providing additional explanations throughout the tour and was very attentive to your group. In fact, she was quite surprised by your comments, as she felt she had shared plenty of information and was happy to answer any questions that came up. Knowing her well and having worked with her for a long time, we were surprised too, as she consistently receives excellent feedback for her knowledge and engagement. That said, we also understand that everyone has different expectations of what makes a great food tour. Some guests prefer a more conversational style with opportunities to ask questions, while others expect a more structured narration throughout. We are sorry that, in your case, the experience did not fully match what you were hoping for. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it gives us the opportunity to reflect on our tours and ensure we continue to meet the expectations of as many guests as possible. We wish you all the best in your future travels.

Good Food & Great Host

KIMBERLY_M, Jun 2026
Our tour guide, Robert, was fantastic! We enjoyed his personalized tour around the city and would happily do it again all over again. The food portions were just right and gave us a perfect taste of some food highlights in Geneva sprinkled with some historical commentary. Highly recommend!

Great food and guide

It was a good experience. Robert our guide was experienced and knowledgeable also personable and friendly. The foods were delicious! Delightful chocolate experiences!

Nice good tour to get acquainted with the area

Laura_R, Apr 2026
I waited to long to write this, I hope I have remembered the name right, our guide was Francois, and it was just my husband and I on this tour, so it was sort of a private tour. We had a lovely time, I’m a vegetarian do Francois had to mix a few things up, but we were full and I couldn’t even finish my hot chocolate, which was possibly the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Fewer stops than done good tours, but hearty portions, and we saw quite a few Geneva highlights while we were at it.

Very nice historical and food tour

Kat_J, Mar 2026
Nice selection including traditional Swiss Swiss fondue with Gruyère and chasselet as opposed to Savoyard fondue with Beaufort which is a wonderful contrast after a week of French skiing; really enjoyed the anecdotes and details about Switzerland from our guide as well as animated conversation with the other couple on the tour One note - I mistook the mention of water as being something g to carry with as opposed to offered with the fondue and hot chocolate so I forgot to bring a bottle of water to drink while walking

The food tour provided...

Dede_L, Feb 2026
The food tour provided highlights of Geneva along with samples of local food. Our tour guide, Francois, was very friendly and knowledgeable. My only recommendation for improvement would be to change the hot chocolate stop to a food stop. We feel there wasn’t quite enough food to feel full at the end of the tour as the tour description states.

Delicious and filling...

Delicious and filling food experience in Geneva with Benjamin. The fondue was a highlight, both the food and the atmosphere. We also enjoyed the “hidden” hot chocolate stop.

Great guide and food!

Food Tour with Benjamin

John_G, Dec 2025
Tour with Ben was interesting while short on food knowledge, it was long on history politics, and culture.

Great food. Great guide. Beautiful city

Mark_G, Nov 2025
We had a wonderful day with Robert. He was engaging, knowledgeable and great to spend the day with. He shared lots of knowledge of Geneva, the area and the food, but also his personal experience with the city. The food was amazing and lots of it. The meats at the market were tasty and way too much and the cheese fondue… amazing. One of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Not only that but it was served at a beautiful small classic Swiss restaurant in the heart of the old city. Follow that up with two chocolate tastings and that makes for a perfect day. My only complaint - I wished the tour had said to come hungry or I would not have eaten breakfast that morning. I wanted to eat even more!

Highly recommend!

This was such a wonderful tour! My mom and I were new to Geneva and took this tour on our very first day - it was the perfect way to get acclimated to the city. Nigel was incredibly knowledgeable about both the city and its food culture, and every stop featured something delicious. We loved the places we visited, and the pacing and duration of the tour were spot-on. Highly recommend!

Too much for fondue and hot chocolate

Deborah_G, Jul 2025
While Nigel was a very personable guide, the cost of this tour was not justifiable. Charcuterie off a service cart in the back of a market near service doors was not enticing. Cheese fondue was delish as was the stop for hot chocolate, and a handful of chocolates as a parting gift.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hello, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. I would, however, like to kindly clarify a few points regarding your comment about the price being unjustifiable. The tour you attended lasted 3.5 hours and included the services of a guide at a cost that reflects the fair compensation we provide to our team, which is something we value highly. I’m not sure if your remark was directed solely at the food, but it's also worth mentioning that Geneva is one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Despite this, we’ve made every effort to curate a selection of five high-quality, local establishments that truly reflect the culture of the city. We also ensure that the portions are generous, and we genuinely believe it would be difficult to find a similar experience with the same standards at a lower price point. Additionally, wine was included and enjoyed during the tour, an element that naturally adds to the overall cost as well. Our goal is always to offer a sincere, authentic experience that showcases the best of Geneva in a welcoming and respectful way. While we understand and appreciate that opinions may vary, we feel your review may not fully reflect the care and effort that goes into each tour. Thank you again for your feedback,

Robert gave an excellent tour. More food than we could eat. Nice historical sights also. Highly recommended.

A great way to experience Geneva in a day

Robert_O, Dec 2024
Anabelle was a wonderful guide. She is bright and friendly company, nothing is too much trouble for her. She kept us well informed throughout the tour. Thank you!

Lovely afternoon with lots of food!

Anne_L, Dec 2024
Ben was a really delightful host to spend the afternoon with. All the food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The tour just felt slightly disorganised and we felt he could have planned the route to stop at interesting places and tell us more of the history along the way. I know he is new to guiding so I am sure this will all come as he gains experience and confidence, but I would still recommend this tour. We really did enjoy it.
