Hamburgers and pizza

Our guide was amazing. Very friendly, knew the city and history and she was fun to talk with. We were disappointed to be the only English speakers in the trip. Our guide was good to speak in English and German so we all had the appropriate information, but we missed a lot of the fun conversation. Also, we expected to experience more Frankfurt specific food, not hamburgers and pizza. We left the tour full of good food, just not what we were expecting from the tour description..

Disappointing

I would like to start by saying that everyone I dealt with regarding this tour was very nice, including our guide. However, in truth, this is not a good experience. The tour was supposed to leave from the old town at 1pm and on the morning of the tour left at 12.45 from.a location several metro stops away. I was finishing an earlier tour and was therefore late. Most food tours of cities feature local food - after all the participants are usually tourists trying to soak up the local experiences and culture. The food on this tour was pizza, Turkish food and Austrian. At the second (Turkish) location there was no table available and we stood around for about 20 minutes. At the end of the tour we were left to our own devices at the other end of the city from where we started. I want to stress that the issue here was not our tourguide but the tour itself, how it is laid out, the choices of restaurants and it's general organisation.

This was a wonderful experience with our guide Kubra. She brought us to great food stops and the entire group was very welcoming! As English speakers she was very attentive to ensuring everything was translated, and many participants were bilingual. Loved this tour and will recommend it to friends!

Great to see some of the modern restaurants that locals frequent here in Frankfurt. Both restaurants visited for very good with great food. The dessert place and cocktail bar were good too. Great tour guide - very friendly and very accommodating - even experienced some rides on the Frankfurt underground.

Well I have to say that our tour did not start well. I purchased the tour that stated the start time would be 1:00. The day of the tour I received a call a few minutes after 12 asking where we were. I was unaware that the tour time changed. Julia our tour guild was very nice and gave me a meeting spot and we just met her there. I did receive an email but it was all in German so I did not think anything of it as I do not read German. Besides this Julia our tour guild was amazing. She had great people skills and was always communicating with the entire group. I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking this tour.

You could do much better

Guide Rabee was great. We only went to 3 places. We had cheese burgers, pizza, pasta and dessert. They were all delicious, but not exactly the German/Frankfurt experience. We met at a market where we could have sampled all kinds of great foods. And yes, I understand the market is not there every day. We traveled quite a bit to get to these 3 places. It was disappointing.

I have done multiple food tours in my travels and this one was lackluster. The food was good but there was no real conversation or description or a little city history that I’ve had in all the past tours. I think the food stops could have been closer together. We got on the train twice and it wasted a lot of time when I’m sure we could have found restaurants closer together. We would have rather had a 3th spot than taking the train. Also a little disjointed. The Turkish steakhouse was amazingly delicious but we had to ask what we were eating. No description. . Vietnamese Pho was just fine. We had to ask what we were eating. No description. Then dessert was again delicious but by then we were kind of disappointed in the day. Our guide was kind and personable but we would have liked more “tour”.

Great food but be aware…

We had such a good time and the people we were with were great. I thought I had signed up for an English speaking group but my family ended up in a German group. Thankfully the guide was very fluent in English and most of the others spoke some. The wording of the tour promo led me to believe that this would be exploring the cultural and culinary diversity of Frankfurt -‘that only the locals experience’. But it was geared FOR the locals, not travelers who are looking for what the locals eat. The ad also says,‘Visit locally loved stops that fall under the tourist’s radar’. So is it for tourists looking for off the beaten places? We got pizza, burgers and some steak and potatoes. All fantastic food, but it’s what we eat in the US. I’d recommend this tour, but be aware. The guide told me the company’s concept is to take the locals of each of their cities and expose them to a more varied dining experience. If you’re an American tourist, don’t bother.

Do not expect German food tasting!

So perhaps I did not read the details, but I expected to taste German food on this tour, i.e. pretzels, eisbein, appel strudle. Unfortunately for me this turned out to be all about American, Italian and Vietnamese food. The places we visited were good, however the 3 and 1/2 hours ended up being 5 hours as every place we stopped at, started our food from scratch. There were long waiting times inbetween For me the Vietnamese restaurant was the best. To end we had a dougnut, which we could have done without. Our guide Poloma tried her best to speed things along. My only other reason for giving this trip only 3 stars is that this was supposed to be an English tour. The trip wqs changed twice and thw starting time was changed the morning from 2 pm to 1:30pm. In the end, from about 18 people we were only 2 who spoke English and most of the commentary was in German, with a few afterthought English translations.

Must do food tour! So happy we did this one.

This was one of the best food tours we have been on. We had four stops, and each one was unique and delicious. We plan on revisiting two of the stops on our last two days here. I highly recommend this food tour! So good!
